  1. sailing to Cuba on the sky on April 9th. After hearing what happened on the epic, i’m Afraid it’s going to be packed with a bunch of wild party kids.:cool:What do you think?

We are on this sailing and doing the 6-9 Bahamas cruise and I'm pretty sure most college Spring breaks will be done. The first leg of our trip might have more families/college kids, but the Cuba sail should be more mellow!

  2. Don’t forget the Canadians! In Ontario, schools have a week off in March, usually the second or third week. I’ve seen some people on Breakaway be horrified that they were on a ship crowded with Canadian families.

On our March 11-18 2017 Epic cruise there were a lot of Canadian families. They were all extremely friendly and well mannered. Why would people on the Breakaway (NYers??) be horrified? I am from NY.

  3. I booked a small cabana on a 3 day Sky with a Cuba as a back to back. If we miss GSC on the first leg of the cruise and get OBC, would we be able to use that on the next one since it is a back to back??? Not looking for another cabana but looking to use any OBC that might incur.

  4. I called to reserve a small cabana but was concerned about the weather. I was told I could cancel 48 hours prior to arriving at GSC and not be charged. The cabanas do sell out.

What happens if the ship cannot tender to GSC and you have already booked a cabana? Do you get a reimbursement on your credit card?

  5. Epic - Mediterranean - late June 2017. I am trying to decide if we are going to upgrade to the Haven area. We are currently in a large balcony. I have a few questions.

    1. I have read many reviews that the food in the Haven restaurant takes a tremendous amount of time and service is very slow. Is this true for the main dining rooms as well? I am just trying to gauge if 1.5 hours for dinner is about average.

    2. I have read that the Epic is extremely crowded. Especially at the pools. Is this true?

3.We have a 10 year old son who is very active and social. Will he enjoy the Haven pool? Will we end up spending more time at the standard pool.

    4. If you have stayed in Haven with a child (around my sons age), what did they enjoy most on the ship? Where did they spend most of their time?

    Thanks!

The service in the Haven Restaurant was by no means that long, unless you want to spread out your dining experinece. Just off a full Epic sail this past March. If you have to get to a show they will serve you quicker. Didnt use main dining rooms so no idea of how long in those venues.

There was a good amount of kids enjoying the Haven pool and tubs on our trip. They were all well behaved and looked like they were having a good time. However, your son would probably enjoy the main deck with the slides.

  6. Is this something if you are in Haven you can request they book for you?

It sure is! We asked the concierge literally a few hours before start time. He picked up the phone and told us we were in go to event at 12 noon. went up to reservation stand, gave our room number and we were escorted right in. There was a long standby line waiting for unfilled spaces. We had a lot of fun too!

  7. We don't plan to book restaurants until we are on the ship. We are in the Haven and have a huge amount of OBC to spend. Do you think it will be a problem booking restaurants for our entire cruise the day we board?

In Haven should not be a problem, just have concierge take care of it.

  8. Don't take 17 if you can avoid it - only because of the sun deck above it. If you all are early risers, then it's not an issue.

We were on deck 17 forward. The sundeck chairs were moving about one night due to choppy seas! Other than that night I was never aware of the crew setting them up, we are early risers though. 17 is a staircase down to 16. I needed the exercise so it was a plus to be up there!

  9. Right, understand. It's just in your face in this ship. Not comfortable, ever, really. Crappy lounges that are awfully uncomfortable by the pool. Comfy lounges up by the top deck but all in the sun. No shade. Cordoned off areas we couldn't enter, ok, I understand but a turn off. Back to the days of the Titanic.

Hey at least you were able to get a lounger!LOL

  10. when we were on the Epic in November they had wine tasting and martini tasting as in the past. We had been told by someone the tasting had been removed but this wasn't the case. I do remember the wine tasting was in one of the MDRs. We did not attend. I am surprised someone has gotten the idea they have been discontinued.

Any idea what the charge is for these tastings? Would be interested in the wine tasting if it includes some decent wines.

  11. Is there anywhere on the NCL website that lists any SPECIAL EVENTS that might be scheduled for a particular ship and date? I’ve looked at their website and can’t seem to find any info.

I ask because on our December cruise on the Epic the Norwegian Cruise Line Poker Challenge was taking place all week and the Bliss Lounge was closed and only used for the poker challenge. I know that poker tournament will be held again next year but I can’t find the ship and date.

I would love to know about the challenge and any other special events that NCL might have scheduled on their ships. It would be nice to know about any upcoming special events when booking a cruise.

Freestyle Novice has a thread with a spreadsheet of upcoming incentive cruises. I dont know how to link you to it sorry, hope this helps!

  12. Just back from a wonderful week in the Haven. Great cruise, great crew. I will be writing my review this evening, and will post a copy in this thread as well. I am happy to answer any questions!

Is the private section for Haven guests open on GSC? Also, can the concierge get you into a sold out comedy show? thanks!
