  1. Thanks to both you girls for your suggestions!

Shipgeeks, you can bet I'll be wearing that dress early in the cruise for the exact reason you noted--haha! And jhsocial, thank you, too. Unfortunately, pantyhose alone don't give quite enough control. I wore the dress recently and received many compliments, so I guess I'll manage with what I have.

  2. My husband and I both tested positive for covid in January. We have the necessary documentation from the lab that performed our tests which gave positive results, and we were in touch with our doctors at the time. But since my symptoms were mild and my husband had no symptoms at all, our doctors simply advised us to isolate and recover at home. We were never seen by our doctors or treated. We are booked on a cruise that sails in 22 days, which is within the 90-day window of continuing to test positive. It's possible our doctors will provide letters, but it's also possible they won't. It's also very likely that we will test positive. What do we do? Even if we have the documentation and letters from our doctors, the part that is really concerning to us is the statement at the end that reads:

Guests who present these documents will need to go through secondary screening at the terminal and boarding will be approved at the medical staff’s discretion.

We don't know whether to go forward or cancel. We have not only the expense of the cruise at risk, but also our flights to the port and a hotel room. Would you risk going forward? I would really appreciate some level-headed opinions.

  3. I'm trying to organize a shot glass exchange for our first sea day on the Panorama. Where is a good place to meet? So far there are between 40-50 who have indicated they want to participate. Thanks for your help.

An alternative to the sheer black nylons is to find sheer black tights with a pattern. Patterns are very current and could also help with snags. Could be something elaborate with lace looks or smaller scale patterns, something simple like:

Fishnets are also more current...smaller scale fishnets like:

I think the main thing to be aware of with either choice is the idea of SHEER. The lower the level of denier, the more sheer.

I love the sheer pattern idea--thanks!

    I vote for nude.

I wear pantihose (nude) every evening on a cruise, and find them quite comfortable, more so than bare feet in dress shoes.  And much more flattering than showing the "imperfections" on my bare legs.

Thank goodness for your post! I thought I was the only one even thinking of doing this! Legs definitely look better in pantyhose!

  6. I will be taking a just-above-the-knee length dress for a formal night on a Pacific coastal cruise we have booked next May. It is black and has a sheer (see thru) panel just above the hem, so my legs will be visible. Here's my question. Do you think nude or sheer black pantyhose will look better? My shoes are black. Thanks for your help.

  7. Ship - Carnival Paradise

    Deck - Deck 7, Empress

    Stateroom # - E244

Stateroom Category – Aft View Extended Balcony

Starboard or Port Side - N/A

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – It was quiet.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – This cabin had that beautiful wake view.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Oversize

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Not at all

Any specific problems with this cabin? - The bed was located near the window. There was no sofa or side chair so there was much more floor space than usual. We could have stored all of our luggage--2 large and 2 carry-on's if we(had wanted to) in the cabin (not under the beds) with room to spare. It made the cabin feel very spacious, although it might have been nice to have had a chair. (We just stood our large piece of luggage up in the corner and used it as a catch-all. It worked out fine.)

Any other comments? - This was one of the newly-added balconies and was one of my favorite cabins ever. The cabin was well-designed and spacious, had enough storage/closet space, and the balcony was wider and deeper (from the cabin sliding door to the rail) and it was furnished with an third chair. We LOVED the balcony! I would absolutely book this cabin again!

  8. We had Jorge as our guide too, he actually is a professor at the University, he studied a lot of history, he really knows his stuff! I printed out Blexie's standard itinerary and added a few things, Jorge was happy to oblige! This was the itinerary I put together:

    4 Main Squares

    · Plaza de Armes

    · Plaza Vieja

    · Plaza de an Francisco de Assisi

    · Plaza de Catedral

    Castilo de la Real Fureza

Backstreets of Old Havana (suitable for Humanitarian purpose- gift giving)

Break for lunch at a Palador (private restaurant)(Optional)

    PART TWO:

Drive along the Malecon area to

    Nacional Hotel

    · Bunkers underneath hotel

    Fusterlandia

    El Bosque de la Habana

    Cristobal Colon Cemetary

    John Lennon Park (Statue 17th & 6th)

    Plaza de Revolution

    Drive to down town area

    Capitol Building

    · Central Park

Grand Theatre of Havana- Need to see at night too

    Bacardi Building

Where did you find Blexie's itinerary? I was told it was on their Facebook page but can't find it. Thanks for your help.

  9. Hi There! We are sailing on the Sunshine in just 2 weeks, and I couldn't be more excited. I thought you might be the one who could answer a question for me since you just sailed on her. Is it true that the televisions in the cabins are not interactive? Meaning, you cannot check your Sail and Sign account, can't view the MDR dinners, etc.? I read this in a review, but I'm hoping the TV's were updated since the review was written. Thanks for your help.

  10. We sailed on the Vista on February, too. Except for our Family Harbor cabin, it was not my favorite. I missed the "grandness" of the atrium with the glass elevators. Many of the public areas, like the main theater, had low ceilings compared with other ships. But, if you're looking for a ship with lots of things to do, you'll love the Vista. It just depends on what you're looking for. I'm really glad we sailed on her, I just wouldn't care to do it again.

  11. We had a Family Harbor Aft Obstructed Ocean View on the Vista last year and it was perfect. Because you're all the way aft, you don't really hear any hallway noise and we never heard a thing from the dining room above. We did experience a few vibrations, but they were at a minimum. The obstructed view is simply that you can't look straight down at the sea from your window, as there is a platform (decking) outside the window. However, if you raise your eyes just a little, you have that perfect aft view. We also loved having the use of the Family Harbor Lounge. They had a mini breakfast buffet with eggs, breakfast sausage, fruit, pastries, etc. It was so nice not having to fight the crowds on Lido. It was also a breeze getting back to our cabin after going ashore, so we were on a lower level. We would book one of those cabins again in a minute and we were a couple traveling without children! If you decide to keep your FH cabin, I hope your experience is as great as ours!
