  1. Well, it is so hard to believe that we are less than two months to our cruise and renewal. :) I am getting so excited.................

I started to freak out about my dress and decided to go shopping to see if I could find anything I liked better than what I have. I had found one on the David's Bridal website that I liked but it will take 8 weeks to get and I have to drive an hour to try on the sample. I talked to my DDs and they both told me they really like my current dress, then I tried it on again and decided they were right, it does look nice and will be perfect for a casual renewal. By the way, there are NO summer dresses in the stores right now so I really am stuck anyway. So with that crisis over, I am now thinking about if I want to do something different with my hair or just leave well enough alone!!!!

I go back to have my hair trimmed and dyed on Feb 18th and my hair stylist said she would show me how to pull some of it back and pin it so it would be a little more fun looking. We will see how that turns out!!

I have started tanning twice a week so I have a little color. I have decided not to order a bouquet. I am going to just take some ribbon and pick up flowers at a shop on St. John or buy some on the ship and fashion into a small bouquet. That way if they refuse to let me carry them back on I won't be so sad and out so much $$$$!!!

That's what is new here........................................

  2. I bet you will get some great pictures, especially with your girls there.

Planning the renewal was really fun for me. We are going very casual since we are having the renewal on the beach. DH is wearing shorts and a classy short-sleeved subdued tropical shirt, my dress is very tropical looking. I think I have a picture of it on one of the renewal threads or the what are you wearing thread. We both plan to be barefoot and I am hoping to have some pictures taken where we are actually standing in the ocean. :D

We don't know if it will be the formal night on the ship or not but we can have formal pictures taken at that time. I think a bottle of wine or champagne and a special dinner at chops will round out our vow renewal day.

Our children our grown up and out of the house (19, 22,24) so they think the whole thing is pretty cool since we are starting this new "empty nest" part of our life. We are actually having a pretty good time since the last one left for college! We have had kids in our house since the first year we were married so we deserve the break.

Let us know how you come out on your plans.

I will be back before you leave so I will try to post some pics once I get back, if people are interested.

Here is the link that will give you info on the Royal Romance Vow Renwal Package.

I bet you are so excited, especially having your family there with you.

We eventually decided to do our own thing and not go with Royal Romance because we wanted a beach location.

When is your cruise and what ship?

  4. Brooke,

Thanks for the site. We had contemplated just doing the renewal ourselves but decided it was too much pressure and I had looked at the site for vow ideas. We are meeting with the minister before the ceremony and he will tailor the vows to fit our needs.

We are going to do the ring thing as we had to have DH ring cut off this last year and instead of adding more gold again, we ordered a new ring. I also have an anniversary band picked out. This renewal will give us an opportunity to exchange these new rings with a minister to give a blessing.

You can be pretty creative with the vow renewal thing- it is really a lot of fun.

I am hoping that there will be paintings of the vow renewal beach site around at the art stores, so I can purchase one and bring it home to put in our bedroom. If not I hope to take some nice photos and I can always have them enlarged and framed. It will be a good remembrance.:D

Best wishes everyone on your plans. Let's keep the ideas flowing, it helps.

  5. I simply do not understand why someone would want to renew their vows.

Has the first one expired or become nol and void.:D

Why would one want to have two life sentences run connectively?:D

You think like most men. This was not high priority for my husband but he loves me, so he is going with the flow. Now I think he is more into the whole idea. I just don't think he realizes we will now have two anniversaries!!! s

When my hubby and I got married we only knew each other for about 4 months, I moved to where he lived, we got married and we started a family right away - 3 kids in 5 years. We have spent the first 25 years concentrating on raising kids.

Now it is time for us. Since the kids are out of the house we are having so much fun......;) Also, our first wedding was so formal, it seemed like it was more for our families than for us. This time around the day is for us!! We are in a sort or second "honeymoon" period. :D

  6. But you know that already. :D

We are using usviwedding.com and will be renewing our vows on Hawksnest Beach in St. John USVI March 12th. This is in celebration of 25 years of marriage. (Also empty-Nester's - now it is our "time".) ;)

Plans are casual attire and barefoot on the beach, just the two of us, the minister and wedding planner to take a few photos and taxi us to the site. I am hoping for romantic and personal for the renewal, totally opposite from our wedding 25 years ago which was huge and formal!

Our cruise is RCCL Serenade of the Seas Southern Caribbean. I can't wait.

bulldogmom- your flowers look much like the ones I may chooose!

  7. OK - I am on vacation so I eat and drink what I want. I never gained any weight on our cruises but just felt puffy... water retention when I fly. We do so much walking on those excursions and on the ship I think it cancels out the extra calories I consume. :) I will have to say that we went to Jamaica this year for a 5 day AI resort and I gained about 7 lbs. in 6 days. We just ate, drank and spent all day on the loungers on the beach. No excersize at all. Next cruise I plan on using the gym - I want to look great in the new evening dresses!
