  1. Rebel Yell crew is great.... It was a smooth ride, and they pulled up to the beach and you hop out. My mother in-law is a non swimmer and was super nervous, they made her comfortable.

But if you can find a private charter, do it. We went last November, this had to be my favorite stop of any. Great beach, quite, great drinks, clear water. Only negative was that we were not there long enough. I we end up doing eastern again, going to book a private charter so we can spend all day there.

I think it was called Escape to Jost van Dyke. It was through NCL, and it was on the Rebel Yell. The ride there is 20-30 minutes. For a catamaran, it's not too rough.
  2. There are three "MDR"'s The Manhattan Room, Taste, Savor.. all free.

There is also O'sheehan's open 24 hours, there is also some snacks put out at the back of the Casino. If your are in Haven , there is a restaurant there as well.

I also have the food and bev package,, my question besides the buffet and MDR ,, where can u eat, that you don't have to pay ?
  3. Cagneys #1 loved it

Teppanyaki, loved it both times we have eaten here, My #2 my kids #1

Moderano, come hungry, they pineapple is awesome. #3

Food republic, great to get a snack or skip one of the MRD, not on the plan though.

Bayamo, The first time we ate here it was awesome, the second time not so much. Hit or miss

La cucina we have not tried, too mych good Tuscan style around our house.

Le Bistro.. Pass was not that good.

  4. Thank you, that is what I was looking for! They are a little older but it seems they don't change it up much. Mmmmm several delicious IPAs and even Cigar City's Maduro Brown. That qualifies as breakfast beer...since I'll be on a cruise ;p

If the menus are any different, I'll post them when I get back.

Breakfast beer... :'):'):') I will have to try that for breakfast in 3 weeks... as you recommended it.

  5. You pay the gratuity before your cruise. However, if you are in port in the US, they will add tax to your drink to your bill. So your first drink or two may get taxed.

There is no limit per day, but they do stop serving the over served. If you know what i mean.

We have not eaten sushi on board and have used the traditional restaurants. I think Food Republic serves sushi, and you may have to just pay a la cart. The up-charge restaurants we end up going to are Teppanyaki (super fun), Moderno, and Cagneys. Bayamo and Le bistro were so-so. I believe you can also use it in La Cucina, but we have yet to try that one.

quote=zdub86;53289276]Hello. I am about to book my first NCL cruise for November 2017 and have a few questions about these promo deals they are offering. Of the ones being offered, I think I will choose the Ultimate Beverage Package and the 'Free' Specialty Dining package. A few questions...

I pay the 18% gratuity BEFORE my cruise, is that correct?

I know there's a price limit per drink set at $15/per, but is there any kind of drink limit per day (alcohol)? I know Carnival has a drink limit per day per guest, so I was wondering if NCL also has that.

Also, the specialty dining package says I get three free meals, but some of the restaurants still charge an upcharge, why is that? So if I wanted the sushi bar, I must pay $7 per person to get in, but then we can eat more than $7 worth for no extra charge, is this correct?

The three 'free' main courses being offered are only available at Cagney's Steakhouse and Le Bistro, correct?

I am also confused by this last statement... "There is no minimum or maximum to the number of meals that can be redeemed in a day, however each meal is counted towards the package."

So for example, I can eat at Cagney's one night, Le Bistro one night, and the sushi bar one night and then my specialty dining ends? Anything after that I have to pay out of pocket right?

Thanks in advance for any information!!

  6. Good idea to make a list of songs. I think I shall do that.....Will they do "oldies" like the 60's? Love the 60's and 70's music.

Yes, depending on what it is. If its one of the classics that everyone knows, im sure they will know it.

  7. They definitely have the mainstay songs they toss in to keep the crowd in it, at least on board they they have taken requests and played them... even up to college fight songs. I have been pretty amazed at the large number of songs these guys actually know. Last trip, my wife requested 4-5 songs and they covered them all, even the "man hater song" i will survive.

I have been to Howl at the Moon in San Diego and many other performances in this genre in other cities. It is amazing to me to watch people throw money at these performers thinking they take requests. These guys or girls only play what they want to and pretend these are requests. They will play things that get audience participation and are comfortable playing. This is not like Karaoke which is yuk,

I like go to these shows and have fun but know that they have a set playlist and script they follow. It is probably a dozen songs or more and maybe a request or 2 if they like it.

    YMMV

  8. Since they almost always have guys playing piano and singing I usually request a song that requires a sultry female singing voice. For example, "I Touch Myself" by the Divinyls. It's always a hoot to watch a guy try to sing a song that a guy shouldn't attempt to sing.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

    Oh... that is Amazing....

  9. So i am 39 days out from Vacation! One of our favorite items on the escape is Howl at the moon. The guys they have had our last few trips have been amazing, add to that Tyler the cruise director hopping in. A good time.

However, I always have a few drinks then get in there and go "you know ... That Song... By that guy... whats his name?" So in preparation. What are your favorite dueling piano request songs?

I will admit it is funny when my wife tries to get the all male cast to sing I will survive.. :')

  10. This will be our third trip with the family (14 and 10) on the escape in the last 2 years. Only reason we are back is the kids loved it. Make sure yours go to kids club the first day. If the make a friend or two, they will have an amazing trip. There is a ton of things to do for the kids.

  11. We are looking forward to this day, so Zip line was worth it? What else is not to miss?

Yes, I reread it and you are thankfully correct. Thanks for the good news.lol

We look forward to our return to harvest caye. We had two grandkids and stayed quiet awhile but if you aren't doing what they want, they are antsy and ready to go.

We did the zip line and it took a lot of time. Well worth the time and money. It is such a nice and clean place. Also the workers are very friendly. No pushy push buy this and buy that.

  12. Sounds like its going the other way, taking 350 more off the island... looks like more dive shops, and activities. We are right there with you though, we have enjoyed the cruise line "private islands" more than some of the bigger stops.

The thing we loved loved loved about harvest caye was it wasn't another carribean sardine can with way too many people. Guess they will figure a way to mess up the only place that you had room to breath. If they limit it to 350 it will still be doable but hopefully they keep it at 350.
