  1. Anyone have info on the central park view window rooms? Specifically room 9593. There are 3 of us in the room. Where is the connecting door located and is the sleeper sofa more of a single size sofa? Any pictures? Thanks for help!

This thread here: http://cruiseforums.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=41074347 has photos of a Central Park View room with a photo showing the connecting door to the stateroom next door. The connecting door is by the entry door to the stateroom. It also shows the sofa.

  2. I would think that they have fire doors in the servery, where food is prepared and there are heating elements (not sure that code allows fire).

Yes fire doors at kitchen entrance from main dining room. Probably several sets of fire doors within the kitchen as well.

  3. Its easy to spot the fire doors in the promenade but I've never thought of how they save the MDR. Do they have any kind of dire doors in the MDR on current ships?

No fire doors inside the main dining room that I am aware of. Fire doors at every guest and kitchen entrance. Fire doors are interesting as they are mainly around every stairwell/elevator lobby (where fire and smoke could easily spread), along stateroom corridors and at the entrance to every venue. Also, as you said, two sets in the Royal Promenade.

  4. I got married on Liberty of the Seas in 2008 in Miami. My advise to you would be to avoid the ceremony at sea and get married on the ship while it is in a US port. If you leave from Florida, Royal Caribbean can obtain the marriage license on your behalf, which makes it a lot easier on you.

My wedding was a wonderful experience, so best wishes to you!

  5. The Freedom class is very similar to the Voyager class just a longer with a few extra venues. Ice cream locations and hot tubs will be the same. Deck 11 for both. There will be a soft serve station out by the pool. Hot tubs are by the pools and cantilevered hot tubs are in the Solarium on Deck 11. The Windjammer Marketplace is on Deck 11, same as the pools, so just a short walk to the pool from buffet.

  6. My Oasis recommendations:

    1. Catch sail away from above the bridge (Deck 14 Forward Left Side)

    2. Have lunch at Park Cafe (Central Park - Deck 8)

    3. Watch a performance of Hairspray (Opal Theater - Deck 4)

    4. Relax on a "secret balcony" (Decks 11, 12, 14 AFT)

    5. Ride the Carousel (Boardwalk - Deck 6)

    6. Enjoy a burger and fries/onion rings at Johnny Rockets (Boardwalk - Deck 6)

    7. People watch from the Rising Tide Bar or let the people watch you! (Royal Promenade - Deck 5)

    8. Bask in the sun on the second floor of the Solarium (Deck 15)

    9. Don't miss the ice skating spectacular Frozen in Time (Studio B - Deck 4)

    10. Walk the track and pause (chairs available) at the back of the ship (Access from stairwell on Deck 5)

  7. OMG I'm going to be flamed BUT I can't believe the complaints on here .... I live in Australia, we have 3 Royal Caribbean ships that come here for 6-8 months of the year, Rhapsody, Radiance and Voyager.

Other cruise lines operate here like P&O and Carnival, I think all year round.

In the US the number of choices in ships is amazing and I suppose this is due to the population. Australia's population is 25 million .... if one of the big ships, ie. Oasis or Allure came to Australia WE would be so happy. We travelled to the US and cruised on Oasis in December on a B2B, had the best time and had nothing to complain about.

Perhaps you just take for granted what you have there! Sorry just sayin !!!!

Thank you. It is called "First World Problems". I don't think Royal Caribbean would consistently win awards for their brand if everything was "going down hill".

  8. 8:45pm and 10:30pm usually on Oasis class ships. This would be for the show in the Amber Theater. AquaTheater shows may vary slightly, but it is usually the same because of early/late dining.

If you have early dining, you'll most likely want to see the 8:45pm show. If you have late you'll want to see the 10:30pm show. There will also be a matinee performance during the day around 2pm or so.

  9. It seems as though food is of great importance to you. Is that what ruined the cruise? Did you see any of the shows, enjoy any onboard activities? There was a fleetwide menu change in 2012. For having sailed RCCL so many times I'm surprised you would let 1 bad cruise change your mind about the entire brand.

  10. [quote name='cruzinlady1947'][I][SIZE=3]I might be in the minority, but I like the WJ. Of course there are always things I don't like, but have no problem finding things I do like. I love the salad bar, including the salad dressing (honey mustard for me). And, I agree, the mashed potatoes are great. And I also like the pizza and FF. I don't cruise to eat and as long as the food satisfies me, I'm good with it. Nothing wrong with the MDR either.

I should say, I have not cruised as many cruise lines as others, just Royal, Carnival and Norwegian. But, it's been a long time since I cruised another line other than Royal. I will stay Loyal to Royal for now. ;)

Don't feel like you're in the minority. I like the Windjammer too, but sometimes the selection is less than desirable. I love the mashed potatoes and pizza too! :D
  11. Thank you all so much!! I love CC. You are all so helpful!!

What about the "my time" dining? I know you have to prepay the gratuities, which is fine with us, but why else would one pick this over the traditional dining?

One note about My Time Dining: If you want to same wait staff every night you'll more than likely have to make a reservation for a specific time and request that staff's table to ensure you have them each night.

My personal opinion about My Time Dining is that sometimes it can be a hot mess depending on how many people utilize the service. I've seen the lines backed up for people waiting for tables because a lot of people want to eat at the same time and the My Time Dining section is only so many tables.

  12. Okay, seriously fellow cruisers. I am a huge RCCL fan. I am a middle class american who hardly eats at 4 or 5 stars restaurants. I am just an "average Joe". I have taken many RCCL cruises, and by far this is the worst Windjammer experience.

In the morning, pancakes, french toast, toast, etc were all cold! So bad there were a few times I couldn't even swallow it.

The meat is ridiculous. The infamous CC honey stung chicken is as dry as a bone. The hamburgers are something that would be served in a school cafeteria. No quality meat at all.

It takes the entire cruise to figure out what to avoid.

I do give credit to the salad bar, it was nice. But even the dressing was so cheap. I had Blue Cheese dressing that squirted out of a bottle with a very small tip. So it was runny, not creamy or chunky like it should be.

At what point are we going to all agree, the Windjammer is like eating at a local grocery store food cafeteria line. After you finish eating, you are full, but there is never anything you have to get seconds. It just wasn't good.

Go ahead and flame me. But I wish they would use flames in the Windjammer to at least keep the food warm.

Buffet food is normally always hit or miss. The last cruise I was on (Oasis) I didn't even eat in the Windjammer, but I'm not opposed to. There were just so many other places to eat I choose not to. But I would agree that you have to really be picky because some things are cold, stale, dried out, or just not appealing to eat.
