Thanks to you both!
If you had an independent tour in St Petersburg can you advise on how difficult it was to make the reservations for the A, B, C etc. groups to leave? Do you know how many “reservations” each person could make? I’m wondering if one person could make the reservation for our entire independent group of 20?
TIA
Good question - I was wondering that myself. Judging from the wording it looks like you can actually "reserve" your spot as soon as you walk on board IF you know about this in advance. What was needed to reserve the spot? an id card to scan? room numbers?

You can email me at jj227CC at gmail dot com and I will send you the dailies.
Thank you! I would be interested in this as well. I just sent you an email. Look for one ending @sbcglobal.net

I know better than to believe them without a 2nd confirmation, hence my request to the boards.

Has anyone done the Schwerin Castle tour off the NCL ship? We were all set to do visit this castle on our own until we realized that the castle is closed on Mondays and that is the day we're in port. In reading the description for this tour on the website, it says that it includes an inside tour of the castle. I called and was told the description is accurate, but I can't imagine that the ship gets a private showing of the castle when it's closed to everyone else.
So my question is for those who have done this tour, did you see it on a Monday and if so did you see the inside of the castle?
Thanks

I have another question :) What was the weather like? I've been reading that it's cooler than expected and that Tallin especially was "cold". We'll be doing this same trip at the end of July.

Thank you for posting so quickly upon return and you answered most of my questions (on this cruise in 5 weeks). It sounds like NCL has the Stockholm transfer figured out then. I've been reading some horror stories and was seriously considering doing one of their tours just to not have to deal with the mess of the free transport.

St. Petersburg - The day before we were informed we had to sign up for a time to get off the ship, A, B, C, etc. We got B which was 8am. We were suppose to go to the theater and they let you leave at your appointed time. We were meeting someone we met at the M&G so we chose to meet in the atrium at 7:45am. We then saw people leaving the ship through the hallway pass the library and followed them out, never going to the theater. We waited on line for immigration around 10 minutes and met our guide by 8:20am.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. My family will be doing this cruise in a just a few short weeks. Just curious about the exiting strategy here. How were you notified about picking a group A, B or C? And how did you do this? customer service desk? kiosks? were the lines long? It sounds like though that they did not even check for you and that you were able to walk right off the ship (to Russian immigration).
In regards to the CPH airport, would the standard 3 hours be sufficient time?

Thank you for sharing this. I (like the others) am interested in what else you have to share.

Thanks for the review. How was last stop, Nyshaven/Stockholm? (I know this is incorrect spelling). I've read that there were some issues with the free transfers into/out of Stockholm due to the port changing.

"The hotel shuttle busses are for Crowne Plaza, AC Hotel Bella Sky and Marriott (and in the near future also Hilton) "
Danish Viking - Thank you so much for taking the time to explain in detail on how to get around. At the beginning of the pictures (2 pages back) you stated that one of the hotels for the shuttle busses is Marriott. Which Marriott are you referring to? I ask b/c we will be staying at the CPH Marriott Hotel at KB 5 and the site says no shuttle busses from the airport.

I have booked with Luggage Hero based on the recommendation of my airbnb host. Finding the specific locations is a bit of a challenge, but I found the online chat help to be very helpful in finding the best location based on our plans.
THANK YOU! I will definitely check them out.

Question: Is there some place that I can store my luggage for a few hours? We are spending time in CPH after our cruise but the earliest we can access our flat is 11:30 and we are off the boat around 8 am. I've no desire to wander around CPH with our luggage. I've searched this thread but only see info about going to the airport. TIA!

NicoleThank you so much for taking the time to share this. I really appreciate it - we are doing this cruise in July. I have a few "technical" questions if you don't mind answering. 1) What time was kept on the ship? On the cruises I've been on, the ship time is the departure port time regardless of what it is on land but this cruise does 3 time zones so I'm curious as to what they do (I did note in one of your pictures the notice/alert about a time change). 2) what did you do for currency? Did you generally put everything on the credit cards? or did you have a handful of euros/kroners/rubles with you?
Your pictures look amazing. Where they all from your phone? or an actual camera?
Again thanks!

Favorite souvenir : my kuksa cup ( careful , some are manufactured, some are hand made) Yes, it takes a few cups of coffee ( or tea) to break it in, but after that you have it forever and you choose one that fits your hand perfectly. https://ultimathule.fi/en/291-kuksa-cups/
Beautiful wool sweaters in Tallin ( still great condition after years of use)
Did you get these in Helsinki? I don't want to make assumptions. And at this rate with all of the wonderful suggestions I'm going to need a 2nd suitcase and a 2nd job for all of the unique items.

Thank you for all of your information. Greatly appreciated!

Thanks for asking this question - I wondered about this as well (cruised with RC but never NCL) and thought the wording a bit odd.
-
Thanks - I had initially searched the NCL forum but didn't see anything so I thought I would post here. I was just curious on it given the # of currencies involved with a Baltic Sea Cruise.
-
Not sure if this is the proper spot to ask this question:
Has anyone been on a NCL cruise to the Baltics and if so do you recall if there was an ATM machine on board? If there was what currency did it dispense? Given the # of currencies involved with that particular route I was wondering which it would dispense: Euros? Kroner? Rubles? (Doubtful)
Thanks!

I've done a cursory glance through the forums but didn't notice anything: has anyone stayed in these cabins on the forums and if so, any comments? It's right outside the Imax theater so not sure how loud or busy it will be. I'm a heavy sleeper but the rest of the family is not so any insight would be appreciated.

Just received the email tonight notifying me of the required pick a time. One thing in the email was that it said regardless of when you check in, you will not be boarding the boat until 12 pm. How valid do you think this is? I've read elsewhere of people checking in around 10:30 - 11 and that they were on board around 11 - 11:30 (from the earlier cruises on this ship). I don't want to do early check in only to sit around in the terminal with a bunch of antsy kids (and adults!) waiting to get on board.

Energy Saver System
Thank you for letting us know about this. This is my 3rd cruise, first with Carnival and had no idea about this. With 2 teenagers it's important to keep the gadgets charged. So if I'm understanding the responses correctly you can "trick" the system by leaving/inserting another card of some sort (fake credit card, piece of cardboard, etc).
-
Never mind - found it. THANK YOU!! As we're on the 7/29 cruise with 21 people.
-
Where do you do this? Checking the site now and I don't see that option :(
-
I understand that there's 2 ATM machines on the boat - one that dispenses US $ and another that dispenses Euros. Did anyone use the Euro machine? If so do you know what the exchange rate charged was? was there any issues with using the machine? (long lines? unaccessible? broken?)
Thanks!

A few questions:
Another question regarding the Copenhagen Card:
I saw that it can be purchased at the airport. If we purchase it there, it won't be valid until we use it the first time correct? I ask because we wouldn't use it until 11 days later. (Doing a cruise and we're staying in CPH after not before). I'm thinking of doing this so that I don't have to worry about text messages, emails and the what not. Buy it at the airport and this way when we get off the boat, we have it all ready to go.
As I mentioned we're staying in CPH after the cruise, so what is the best way to get from the cruise terminal (Oceanijc -spelling is incorrect) to Vor Frue Kirke? (We're staying right around the corner from there). Taxi? Public Transport? If taxi, approximately how much would it be for 4 people plus 4 luggage? (debating whether to start the Card that morning or wait until the afternoon so that the 48 hours end in the afternoon so that we can take the train to the airport)
Last question: What train do we take to get to the airport? About how long would it take?
Normally we do not do the "city cards" b/c cost wise we don't break even but this time we are due to convenience and we do plan on visiting a few sites and the canal tour in the 48 hours that we have afterwards.
Thank you in advance for your time and answers.
