  1. Ugh [emoji37][emoji31] I feel your pain. I spent 12 days next to and across the hall from a family of door slammers that continually went back and forth to each other's cabins and left the deadbolt lock turned so they could just let the door go, slam, and fly across the hall into the other cabin and then let that one go and slam too [emoji31] all hours of the day and night. I'm generally a pretty tolerant live and let live kind of person, but this was hard to ignore. I politely spoke to the son once, and the cabin steward spoke to at least a couple of them, and on and on it went .... [emoji19]

  2. We'll be staying one night before our Nov 5 cruise from Miami and will be using Marriott points for our stay. Which Marriott would you choose based on location? Not terribly concerned with amenities since we won't be there very long, but we will have access to the concierge lounge as we are gold reward members if you can compare the 2 lounges. Also looking for a nice location with a good happy hour/tapas or small bites type of meal within walking distance. Thanks in advance for your input!

  3. I changed my mind! Today the price of upgrading to a concierge level guarantee cabin dropped to $150pp for our sailing, so I went ahead and did it. My analysis was essentially the same as NHCRUSIN. It's now better than break even with getting all 4 perks since we had decided to definitely upgrade our beverage package. Thanks for the info!

  4. I read 3 on my recent British Isles cruise on the Caribbean Princess - all set in the region:

Me Before You by Jojo Moyles - enjoyed it

'Tis by Frank Mc Court - highly recommend, especially if you read Angela's Ashes. This is the follow up to that book. Loved it.

Trafficked by Sophie Hayes. This was tough; I almost bailed out it was so difficult to read at points, but I'm glad I finished it.

  5. I just upgraded today on the Nov 5 Reflection from a Veranda to an AQ Guarantee for very little extra because right now the AQ includes all 4 Perks and the Premium Bev Pkg which we always upgrade to anyway. AQ is our cabin category of choice. Here's hoping we get a good cabin! (First time doing a guarantee on X)

Champagne Cruiser - Did you get a cabin assignment yet? We did! I'm happy .... we were assigned a 2C, so a one category upgrade. We are in 6503, the last aft cabin, but it looks like it has a very large balcony! I tend to choose cabins way in the aft anyway because of less foot traffic and it makes me walk off some of my overindulgence! I'll still keep my eye on prices though until we sail.

  6. How easy/difficult is it to get a table for 2 with flex dining? The last 2 times that my husband and I cruised with Princess, we were consistently given a hard time trying to get a table for just the 2 of us. They tried very hard to push us into sharing a table with others. On the nights we just wanted a quiet dinner alone, they gave us a beeper and we waited 20-30 plus minutes. It wasn't a great experience.

  7. I just booked us on the Nov 5 Western Reflection...I think we got a decent deal. Booked a verandah guaranty category with the go big and 5 day extra sale promotions getting us a total of $400 OBC plus the classic beverage package for $1,099 pp. They required that I pay in full today because I'm guessing the final payment date has passed. If I find the price drops at some point, or a higher category is offered for what I paid or less, what changes does Celebrity allow if any? This has happened to me before on Princess and they would not allow any changes or credits.

    Thanks for your help! [emoji3]

  8. I came across this today too. For my sailing, it was $200pp. I decided to stick with the guarantee verandah. I had already planned to allocate $190 of the $400 OBC to tips....(I, too, haven't figured out why it's a full $400 and not just $300 due to my selecting the $150 per person OBC as one of my perks???). That leaves me $210 in OBC for extras and we will most likely do an excursion with that. To be honest, I didn't want to spend any more money to get things that I probably would not choose to buy on board anyway. It was tempting though [emoji51]
