We gotta remember that solarium rating often depends on where a person saling in/from.

We in Northeast need a different solarium than many people sailing from Florida.

I personally want an enclosed Solarium (w/ AC) when sailing from Florida.  YMMV.

Also, the FCC covers the cost of the stateroom only. If you choose to use the FCC on a less expensive cabin, the balance remaining is still a FCC and will not cover any extras like taxes, gratuities, etc.

I thought an FCC could cover prepaid gratuities and insurance.

With a guarantee, you'll have zero control over whether you're near your traveling companions -- and the chances of your assignments falling near one another are slim-to-none.

I've usually faired better than slim.  🙂

Nordic Empress a few doors away.

    Quantum - 3 doors away

Anthem - both forward, but 1 deck apart

Grandeur - side by side cabins

Anthem - 1 cabin between us

    YMMV.

Has anyone had success with booking two guarantee cabins on the same voyage? I've been tempted to do that when we travel with friends. We want to be near each other, obviously. I'm afraid that we'd be assigned rooms at far ends of the ship from one another...

You may (or may not 😄 ) have a better chance of being nearby if you link your reservations.  However, linking reservations does allow all parties to see some parts of the other party's reservation.

It seems to have been fixed. Royal hold me in their chat to try to log out and log in and if that didnt work to uninstall and reinstall the app…...hubby did that and it worked. I just had to log out and log in

I didn't do anything other than click the Check-in button, then View SetSail Pass.  I first tried clicking the Person Icon, then View SetSail Pass, and it didn't work, but it does now.

Has anyone used drink voucher for the discount off a bottle of wine?

I haven't personally, but others on here have reported using a voucher for a discount.  I assume that 18% gratuity is added to the remaining balance.

Drink vouchers may also be used toward a discount off the purchase of any bottle of wine — 20% off bottles over $100 and 40% off bottles under $100.

I wonder what discount is given for a $100 bottle of wine?  😄

Also, I do not know how this My Time Dining thing works as I've never run in to this problem before. Can you just show up at 6:30p and stand in line?

Yes, there is a No Reservations line for My Time Dining.  You can try showing up earlier, as they might have an empty table available from main seating.

Another option is to go to the dining room when you board, and see if they have space available in main seating.

Can I check in without my passport? I mailed my old one off for renewal and have received the new one yet. Can I update my check in information once I have checked in.

just check in and check DL/BC as your form of ID, when you get to check in at the pier, present your new passport

Yes you can update it later.  Pick birth certificate initially and then when you get the new passport, go in and edit the record to enter the passport information.

FYI - You can only check-in with a BC for an closed loop cruise departing from the US.

You can use the app to pick the check-in time and fill in the rest after you get your passport.

How about the restaurants on Symphony, did you try any?

I only tried Solarium Bistro for breakfast and lunch, WJ a few times for breakfast and lunch, Johnny Rockets for breakfast, MDR for dinner, and one night at 150 Central Park.  And of course, Sorrento's for pizza.

One other difference is the solarium on Symphony has a vey different layout than Oasis.
