  1. We have traveled with 2 CPAP machines on Celebrity and without fail they have supplied extension cords and 1 gallon of distilled water per week.

However, I would definitely carry a set of adapters so you can plug your machines into whatever extension cord they supply. All CPAP machines are 100-240 VAC and 50-60 cycles.

With the adapters you can plug into one of the European 240 V outlets and plug your CPAP into the extension cord regardless of the plugs on the extension cord.

It is likely you can bring an extension cord with 3 plugs at the end in order to plug in the 2 CPAP machines and have an extra place to plug in a laptop or cellphone charger.

Great point about being able to use the European outlet for your CPAP (with a plug adapter). Many cell phones and laptops can also be plugged into either the 110v or 220v outlet, as well, so an adapter is just a good idea.

  2. We travel with 2 CPAP machines, and our experience on Celebrity has been fantastic. We told our room steward on the first day when he greeted us, a gallon of distilled water appeared as did a safe, heavy duty, extension cord. Our room stewards (4 cruises, 4 ships) even ran the cord under our bed and plugged our CPAPs in (we set them up not plugged in before leaving, and they were plugged in when we returned.)

The cord did have to go across the room, but we unplugged it during the day and tucked the end under the bed, so it worked out very well.

    All-in-all, a positive experience.

  3. I'm working on a spring break cruise. Thought it was just me who couldn't figure out the third tier of pricing! Appears to be the same as the "you pick the room" results - just higher priced.

It is strange. I’ll let you know if I learn anything.

I’m just glad this hasn’t been addressed 100 times in this forum and I’m “that guy” asking a question AGAIN.

  4. I did a quick search of the forums and didn't see anything related to this, but apologize if I missed something.

On RCI's website, there are 3 prices listed. One is if they pick the room for you (guaranteed rate, I understand that), but the other two look to offer the same things (including I pick the room) but one is more expensive than the other. When I click through, I still can't see any difference in what you get for the two different prices.

    Can anyone explain?

    Thanks!

  5. PS to premium package people who like red wine: Ask for Kendall Jackson Vitner's Reserve Pinot Noir and let me know if it is as good as it was on my last cruise in 2016. It is not a super-expensive wine, but it was excellent, at least back then. I think it was a 2013, but I am not sure.

2013 was a great year in California.

  6. I was finally able to print my cruise e-docs, thanks to a fellow roll-call member talking me thru it. In it was an IMPORTANT NOTICE In order to provide a better ship check-in experience please take note. The Port of Shanghai Wusonkou will not permit direct road access to the pier terminal prior to 11:15 am, etc. *** we cruise from Vancouver. Gee, I hope our ship is there not Shanghai. Unbelievable!

My first thought was to wonder how this post was on topic. But then I kept reading and found that it was right on-point. Good to know about Shanghai...

  7. How is the world do you book excursion, specialty restaurants on the stupid new site??? When I log on, they say I have no trips book even thought I am going in October fully paid..What is up with this? Help?

You have to add your trip to your account. There is a place to enter your reservation ID--once you do that, you can book things.

  8. But would the op ever be able to check in, book excursions, ..........

Go somewhere else where they bother to get things right at the front end, because if they can't get the window dressing right, what chance the rest?

All I can tell you is that on board they get things very, very right. And that's where it counts.

  9. I am certain they are not using their internal people for this. A website like this is comparable to the healthcare.gov website that cost the government more than $190 million by the time Accenture came in and fixed it (the taxpayers paid CGI Federal about $13 million before firing them). Accenture, by the way, is the company that Celebrity has contracted with to merge their disparate web properties into one unified whole. Whoever is doing the site is probably either Accenture or a subcontractor for Accenture.

I suspect they are into the new website for several hundred thousand so far. The website has to manage inventory, respond to rapid pricing changes, protect private information under PCI standards, expose a booking engine and maintain customer loyalty info. Much like healthcare.gov it isn't a site a bunch of 20-somethings with WordPress can create.

Still, NCL has a functioning website. Princess has a functioning website. X seems incapable of managing a project of this type, and they should start by bringing in a competent CTO from another company, and a new CEO.

RCI has an ok website...which should be a great template for X.

And Carnival's website is great--and they have the Carnival Hub app, as well.

  10. A member posting a recent review believes the Summit and other M class ships are for sale. He believes this is the Summit.

    Yours for 350 million

Who knows? Could be real (Edge will likely replace something), but likely much earlier than X would want to sell--they would want their replacements. Plus, RCI will likely want to move the ship elsewhere in their "family" much like they moved the Century.

  11. Are the cruise gods telling me don't do it?

I decided to book anyway. I contacted the site where TAs bid. I got three really good offers and emailed them with some minor questions.

    NONE of them responded.

    Maybe it's a sign.

No...take the cruise. Your time in the ship will be great and you'll forget all about the website.

  12. Hi Guys!

Thought I'd say hello in the Celebrity forums.

My partner, James, and I have just booked our first Celebrity cruise about Solstice (Sept 2018 - Norwegian Fjords). :D

In the past have been largely #LoyalToRoyal (having sailed Royal Caribbean many times) but have also dabbled with Princess and NCL. ;)

Always wanted to sail with Celebrity though. I think the ships are beautiful, elegant, works of art - and I appreciate good service and sea views over bells & whistles. I think the Solstice class really gives you the best of both.

I do have a few questions though, if that's OK, anyone who can answer them for me would be fab! :halo:

    1. We got a deal that bundled the 'Classic Alcohol Package' for free. Is it possible to upgrade that to the Premium package onboard/in advance? I love me a martini.

    2. Different cruise lines handle spa facilities differently. Royal Caribbean allow all guests to access the sauna & steam room free of charge, where as NCL charge a fee. What's the deal over on Celebrity?

    3. I've seen lots of videos with a bar covered in frost/ice - looks so cool (bad pun intended), is this aboard the Solstice? And if so which bar?

    4. Our Norweigian Fjords cruise is 8 nights. How many formal nights will there be? And is it worth buying a specialty dining package?

    5. Any other hints, tips, tricks, advice for a first time Celebrity cruiser - and for the Solstice in particular? We're in a Deck 6 Balcony cabin if that helps!

    Thanks, Tom :*

    1. Upgrade to the premium package once on board. This can be done at any bar--so skip the line to upgrade when you're in the cruise terminal. You can even use OBC to do this.

    2. AquaClass has the access to the spa facilities of which you speak included with their fare. All others, including suites, pay a fee.

    3. As someone said before, it's the Martini Bar. You'll have a blast there...they make great drinks (who doesn't love a martini) and the bartenders do a lot of flair bartending, i.e.. flipping bottles around, pouring 15-30 drinks at once, etc. You can find videos on YouTube--very cool.

    4. I think one formal night, but it might be two. Sorry I can't help more on that. Note that "Formal Night" is now called "Evening Chic" on Celebrity meaning that people are dressier but not necessarily suit and tie/evening gown.

    5. Try various specialty restaurants--we really like QSine as it is a dining experience unlike any you've had elsewhere. Be hungry when you go, though. They'll feed you into submission in there. And the chocolate tombstone is wonderful. Specialty restaurants can be booked on-board--though I'm not sure about a dining package. ALSO, as much fun and as good as the Martini Bar is, I'd also recommend you try the World Class Bar. They craft excellent cocktails there and we found it to be our hangout on our last Solstice Class cruise. Finally, if you make friends with someone in a suite, and they offer to take you to Luminae, accept the invitation.

  13. Failed health inspection again? It did about 5 years ago as well. I swore I'd never go on another Celebrity ship again, but decided to give it another chance on a newer ship. We will be on the Equinox mid August and hoping for the best...

That post about the failed health inspection is from June of 2013. It might be the same failure of which you're aware from about 5 years ago.

    I think you'll like Equinox.

  14. Heading out on an Eastern Carib. sailing soon, it's very Sea-day intensive (3 full plus embarkation day). I'm very torn between purchasing the Premium package or not. Partially the overall cost but also because we are getting $175 OBC that can be used for anything including any drinks. I've done some quick calculations and it looks like break even on the premium package is around 7 alcohol drinks per day (avg cost with gratuity $11). Any sage advice? I'm not an alcoholic but it is vacation so 7 per day considering meals doesn't seem crazy to me. Thoughts?

We have always had the premium package and we like it. We like that with premium you pay only the difference for wine by the glass or cocktails above $13...with classic you pay the whole cost for anything not included in the Classic package. It also includes all the non-alcoholic beverages on board.

Keep in mind you can use your OBC to upgrade/buy a drinks package once on the ship. We have booked with Classic as a special and then used OBC (as part of our special) to upgrade to premium.

  15. We were on the Summit from Dec. 24-Dec 31, 2016. She is 15 years old. That said, we found her to be in excellent condition with a fantastic crew and great service. In addition, she is exceptionally clean. For what it's worth, Celebrity is building a new ship, called Edge, which is due to set sail late in 2018. They have a second "Edge" class ship on order (due 2019) and just secured financing for two more (due 2021 and 2022). Those ships look to be spectacular.
