  1. Why?

Individual pills are marked so as to identify their formula, strength, and manufacturer. For drugs with no abuse potential, your approach is overkill (but I won't stand in your way if that's what you want to do).

None of that identifies the traveler as a legally entitled to own the prescription, and not all countries base prescription laws on abuse potential.

And even drugs without abuse potential may be restricted in other countries. A good example, mentioned in the article I linked, is pseudoephedrine; perfectly legal in the United States and has no abuse potential (without a lot of work), but illegal in Japan.

  2. Tnx all. Why is the info so hard to find? Why doesn’t RCI want you to know anything about facilities they can’t charge for? Uh, sorry. Dumb question!

They do, you have to look at the individual ship on their website and then "things to do." Here's their page on the solarium aboard the Independence of the Seas.

Check your watch: It’s me time. Discover the Solarium, a relaxing indoor-outdoor retreat just for our adult guests. Perfectly positioned at the front of every Royal Caribbean® ship, the crystal canopy area presents fantastic views and stays warm while you enjoy swimming pools, whirlpools and lounge area, as well as cascading lagoons on select ships.

    RESTRICTIONS

    Adults only, excluding China sailings

    NOTE:

Access to the Solarium on Quantum of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas is limited to guests sailing on Junior Suites and above, Crown & Anchor Society Diamond and above members and Royal Premier guests in China sailings.

  3. Get trip insurance and in a week or two start checking the US National Hurricane Center website. That will give you a good idea of storm activity.

They have a 48-hour and a 5-day forecast model. They will show likely storms and current storms.

The week before if there is any activity in the Caribbean heading toward Florida you'll want to call RCI to get information about your sailing. And call your airline to see what their policies are, that's the most likely point of interruption.

But like others have said it's been a quiet season and they just reduced the number of named storms they expect.

  4. The guys at ROA are absolutely top notch, and provide an amazing snorkeling experience. We did the 3 stop snorkel and beach break in July, and it was our favorite excursion of the trip. They provide all of the gear you need, and will have guides with you in the water. You go out in small groups, and they are big on preservation of the coral reef. Herbert owns ROA and it seems like he has 5 or 6 cousins who work with him. We had no issues with wind blowing us around, and the coral and marine life were like nothing that we have ever seen before.

Oh, I have no doubt they're great. The reviews out there paint a very good picture, even the 'bad' ones.

My question about the fins is because I bring my own gear, and wanted to know if I should pack them or not.

  5. Luckily I don't have to do that as I never wear the same suit more than once when on a cruise. I probably bring 15 suits for a week cruise so I have choices - never know what I will want to wear for my suit each morning until I try them on:p:p:p:p

    :cool::cool:

You must be a coastal person, too. My wife moved to Florida from Pennsylvania and thought it was crazy that everybody had at least two or three bathing suits.

  6. So, if I leave the balcony door open when the outside temperature is 40 degrees, it will have no effect on the AC system?

How about if it is 50 degrees? or 60 degrees? or 65 degrees?

My point is that sometimes having the balcony door open HAS ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER ON THE AC SYSTEM.

Yes, it does. The HVAC system doesn't just cool/heat the air, it also provides fresh air circulation to the staterooms. That's why the balcony doors cause problems, they reduce the air flowing into other rooms.

  7. My wife and I are going to be in Roatan in September and are looking at this trip. Can anyone provide a bit more information on it? I've looked for online reviews, but it's hard to find any about this specific tour.

How much experience is recommended? Does ROA provide fins along with mask and snorkel? I'm also just looking for how good of a time it was for anyone that's done it.

  8. We didn’t care for the jogging track on the oasis. A lot of it was under cover with no view. We will no longer cruise on any ship that doesn’t have a promenade deck! Loved loved loved the jewel!

What are you talking about? With the exception of the bow area and the aft corners the whole thing is open and looking out. Plenty of great views between the lifeboats..

  9. We had our honeymoon aboard the Oasis in March of last year. Between work and wedding planning we wanted a disconnected honeymoon and a cruise was the best way to do it.

For those who cruised for honeymoons before the early 2000s what was the experience like? Anything special? We were given a bottle of champagne and rose petals in our suite from Royal on the third night; which was a great surprise.

  10. The weekend turnpike traffic through Orlando us unlikely to be that bad. Whenever I head up to the armpit or down to Fort Lauderdale/Miami I leave on the weekends and take the turnpike from I-4 in Orlando.

Orlando’s traffic mostly radiates off from I-4, so there is a chance of traffic on the turnpike, but not necessarily on the weekends and unless it is a major accident it’s only a couple of miles.

  11. I will be sailing on Allure in October and I dont see where on my mobile app to even find a set sail pass. I have tons of other things to view but nothing that directs me to a set sail pass....where do I look????

Assuming you've already selected your sailing from the main menu click on the little person image in the top right of the screen. This opens up your profile information, if you've already checked in it will show an arrive at time ans "view set sail pass" on this screen.

  12. If someone wants a straw with their drink, why are some of you so insistent they not be allowed to have one? Works both ways. If you don't want one, you certainly can get a drink without one. Personally I consider it partially a sanitary thing... I'd rather not put my mouth on the outside of glassware being used.

If the use of straws didn't have a broader impact you would be right. But it does have a larger impact beyond that one person. And the glass is as sanitary as the forks and knives. Do you drink coffee out of a straw?

And for those who think trash doesn't end up in the ocean; go and walk along the side of any major American highway and you'll see the shoulder is full of trash. Plastic straws, burger wrappers, cigarette buds, bags, clothing, vehicle debris. All of that trash doesn't just sit there, if it's near a water way it'll likely get pushed into it over time and then flow into the ocean or seas from there. Go to a public beach in much of the US and you'll find straws and trash in the sand.

It's not just about your straws and trash, it's about everybody's straws and trash. It adds up.

  13. I haven't been following this thread but let me guess the nuts on here think its tyranny because RCI, a private corporation is doing away with plastic straws to save the oceans just a little abuse? Am I correct?

Nah, they think it's a waste of time and/or fake because they haven't seen plastic in the ocean.

Basically a bunch of selfish folks who care more about their comfort than their children and grandchildren and great granddchildren having a clean planet to live on.

  14. I understand some of the paper straws will disintegrate--wondering what the heck are they made of. It would have been so much easier to mandatory recycle.

Some plastics can't be recycled. Straws are definitely an example of this.

And for those who don't get how straws end up in the ocean; land fills aren't closed systems, wind and rain can wash light weight items away. Or blow them out of garbage cans or trucks.

  15. The reason they're being banned is people are saying the oceans are absolutely overflowing with plastic and straws. So while the companies on land are banning plastic straws and using paper straws they are serving those drinks in plastic cups, go figure, once again bureaucracy running amuck.

RCI is phasing out all single use plastics by 2020. And other industries are doing the same, they're just starting with the straws first.
