Is it possible for someone on a Cruise to purchase CN for another person to use on their upcoming cruise?

not certain, but as there is no physical certificate (it just goes on your latitude account) I think they would have to get it and then transfer it to you. That process is really easy and painless however.  A quick call to the CN desk and the transfer is done in minutes.

  2. We cruised the Getaway in early December. For the week we ate dinner 3 times in the MDR, once in O’shehanns and Ocean Blue, La Cuchina and Cagneys. Despite all we had heard La Cuchina was probably my favorite, the Osso Bucco was outstanding. Ocean Blue was also very good. All three MDR meals were tasty, we had a terrible server in osheehans so that kinda tainted that meal, and our steaks in Cagney, ordered MR came medium to well, we sent them back and the second ones were rare. Not gonna be the guy who sends one back a second time so we made do. I think that is better odds than I get at land based restaurants (1 or 1.5 out of seven)

Is this the same on cruises booked in the UK? I’ve just booked a package deal with an agent and added the free at sea perks on including drinks and dining. I did not see any additional costs for gratuities? The regular gratuities were not included I was told that and that they weren’t compulsory (I will pay them don’t worry) but no mention of any on the free at sea things?

No! hopefully one of our UK cruisers can answer exactly, but I believe due to laws in the UK you can't charge service charge on something and call it free, so they just do a flat fee for all inclusive or something like that.

Thanks, that is what I thought and expected from numerous other cruises.  It just is not stated that way on the website, or at least I didn't read it that way.

Two hours in every port would be a bit much!

I was confused by the same thing on our first cruise.  NCL could really word that more clearly.  It is a frequent source of confusion, but as stated by the previous posters, embarkation only. Most ports are 30 minutes prior.

Thank you very much for the info. One other question, if you don't mind me pick your brains some more.... I don't really get much of an OBC bill, but if I do tot up a few dollars can I just pay, and keep the full value of the CruiseNext vouchers? Thank you all, Jane

Your on board account has no bearing on the value of your certificates, they are worth $250 each. If you purchase 2 or more, you will be charged the price of each certificate, with a corresponding credit for half the value of each certificate applied to your on board account.

Thank you for your update. Can we walk to the main places as soon we desimbark the ferry or do we have to take a tour? Can we acess beaches in Placencia n a walking distance from the ferry? (I was looking in google maps but it seems that everything is farway to walk...)

Depends on what you consider far. It wasn’t for us but we walk regularly. Search YouTube for Tipsy Tuna, we walked up there and if you buy a drink or food you can hang on their beach. Very reasonable. If it’s Wednesday it is wing special day. $1 wings (Belize) so $.50 is. They were delicious.

Who did you book through and was arranged transportation included?

Sorry to take so long to get back.  I emailed the hotel directly.   activities@infinitybay.com They told me who to ask for for transportation just outside the port, and they were expecting me.  $20 each for the day pass and $20 each for transportation.  The driver/booking guy did try to upsell us on a tour before hitting the resort, but we just told them we wanted to go straight there and it was fine.  They were back 10 minutes before we arranged for the trip back to the ship.  transportation needed to be paid in cash.

  8. We just did Infinity Bay last week.  I would highly recommend it.  Great pool, literally feet from wading out to snorkel the reef.  They also can hook you up if you want other stuff, like parasailing or a boat to take you out further for snorkeling. There are lots of vendors wandering the beach, but that is the case everywhere it seems.  They were ever present but not too annoying.

  9. Update, we took the ferry last week, the cost was $25 each, booked thru the excursion desk on board.  The $50 excursion credit did apply, making our cost zero.  Had a great day seeing the village.  They will give you a set return time, or you can go standby on the others.  On our trip, 3 pm was the last option.  Hope this helps.

  10. We were in Placencia last week.  At the end of the dock where the ferry drops you off, there were a couple of vendors offering tours.  Don't remember exactly what however, we were just looking to explore the village.
