  1. Have sailed on the Dawn, balcony room, pre-COVID. Had fridge, ice bucket and small coffee machine.

Just sailed on the Getaway (February 2022) in a Club Balcony Suite. Fridge had bottled water inside ($$$) coffee machine was put away into the closet on top shelf (I believe you can ask your room steward to have set up), had to ask for an ice bucket (room steward filled 2x a day!)

room service is free for continental breakfast, $9.95 service fee for anything else. I don't think room service is free except for continental breakfast in a Club Balcony.

Did get treats delivered 2x during 8 night cruise (small chocolates/sweet one day, 4 large cookies another), free bag of laundry and a bottle of sparkling wine. There a few other small perks as well.

The Dawn is a great ship!

  2. got off the Getaway (2/18-2/27), Simon the cruise director said we were sailing with 2024 people. This sailing was during winter break for many school systems. One of the bartenders told us that the numbers were going much lower for the sailing depart 2/27.

I thought embarkation in NYC was held up by NYC officials. Husband and I lined up at 7:30am and were off the ship and in a taxi by 8:20 am.

    can't help with haven : )

  3. According to the Ardastra Garden website, they are open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Have to pre-book. There are ticket prices for non-residents, so my guess is that cruise passengers can go.

My cruise stops in the Bahamas on Thursday, a little bummed can't visit.

  4. I am also sailing after 1/16. We received an email with the details about testing.

    From NCL site

"Cruises with embarkation dates beginning January 17, 2022:
At time of check-in, all guests will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 antigen or PCR test result administered by a verified third party or via medically supervised home test (i.e. https://www.emed.com/ or BioReference-Scarlett Concierge testing service - BioReference sends a qualified medical professional to you to conduct your test), within two days prior to boarding for cruises originating in a U.S. port and three days prior for voyages departing from a non-U.S. port. Guests are also responsible for complying with all local health and safety requirements which may include additional testing"

I would think you could get tested in San Juan. If you are not able to get a test back in time, NCL can do a rapid test for $99.

  5. I would recommend booking a clamshell, probably about $30. You pick which one you would like (find one with mesh in the back for comfort) plus you get priority tendering. Each clamshell has 2 loungers inside.

The buffet is fine and in the past there was a taco truck too. (free)

As mentioned by ggTexasGal, bring cash for tips. Servers will come by and take drink orders, a few $$  means you will not go thirsty!
