  1. I’ve done two HAL cruises to Alaska.  I really liked being able to go out on the bow while in glacier bay.  For me that was a definite highlight.  Got my glacier bay NP stamp and blacktop NP pamphlet from the rangers on board.
im not a big fan of HAL overall,I like NCL and my perks there, but HAL was a great cruise to Alaska twice.

  2. We went under the first bridge (Atlantic bridge I believe it’s called) pre dawn.  1st Locks were soon after.
for me the highlights were the bridges we cruised under, watching locks open, close, fill empty, etc., and some marveling at the “cut” amount of work involved.  Gatun lake is pretty, not much “action” there, lots of other ships to wonder about.  We were on the Joy, Feb 2020.

  3. I’ll jump in….

R/t tendering…Going to shore on your own and private excursion are basically the same thing.  You only get dedicated tender time when on a cruise line excursion.

it takes a lot of time to get everyone onto a tender from these big ships.

when you get onboard, there are touchscreens near the elevators, and lobby areas, the touchscreens will have an option to choose tender tickets.  If you want off early, select a tender at earliest avail, it might be like 24 hrs before the tender port visit.  I don’t remember that detail.

Also select comedy show times you may want asap….

  4. We’re visiting in later October.  Free bus routes 3 and 10 both end on Oct 10. Bummer.

I guess it’s cruise line tour if I want o see the park.

  5. Hoping you have a wonderful trip!
I had to cancel our Feb 2 cruise for medical reasons.  Rebooked on a 3/27 cruise, as that date is past medical restriction date, freaked out and cancelled that one too.  We were both so unhappy, I rebooked, only on 3/20, as flights worked better then…. It’s a circus in my head.
very happy to have a cruise coming up.

  6. I’ve only cruised RCCL one time.  We were trying other lines… then you know…Rona..

anyway.  What I noticed was the main dining room food was delicious.  I liked the appetizer selection, which included escargot. I like NCL foods too, don’t get me wrong.  But seems NCL has been cheapening the main DR selections for years.  I had nothing to compare RCCL to as was my first cruise with them.
    enjoy!

  7. We’re in no hurry to book anything yet.  Just popped in here to say we are missing our annual spring cruising so badly.  Can hardly wait for a safe return to sailing.  Miss you pool, spa, theatre, yummy dinners, ice cream machines, room stewards, and oh those beautiful views.   Tick tick.... not wishing away my life, just the pandemic.  Last ship we were on was the Joy.  🥰 Not my favorite ship, but nothing wrong with it either!
