  1. Somewhere on the P&O site you will find pictures of all obstructed balconies and sea view cabins on all ships

All you have to do is find the magic question to ask to get to the feature

I’ll see if I can find it for you - perhaps someone else can step in and link you straight to it?

    Back later - hopefully

  2. Marcus Rashford’s Twitter account is going crazy with large and small caterers joining the movement.  Good on ‘em but what an indictment.

I don’t know who is making the decisions in No 10 but they appear to be way away from public opinion on this one

How is trying to avoid children going hungry a bad thing?

This sounds a bit ranty - hope I don’t end up in CC jail 🙄

  3. Oh, shame

In extreme storm conditions I think I would just make my way to the medical centre for a jab.  Shame to have your holiday ruined when a little ***** can save it 🙄

Others say acupuncture from the onboard practitioner will do the trick.

Stugeron works for me, though, fortunately I rarely have to resort to medication

All ginger products help mild seasickness - biscuits, toffees, pop, crystallised pieces

  4. You can (or at least I can) appreciate the company’s dilemma.

There must be a lot of lost sleep at Carnival House & in Florida and at every cruise company HQ

How long do you think it would take for the companies to be in financial ruin should, for instance, all foreign travel was banned under emergency powers?  All planes, trains & shipping. Eek

Or, emergency legislation compelling the companies to allow 100% refunds for cancellations?  Or to compel insurance companies to refund?

Of course, if things came to that holidays would probably be well down our lists of worries

”May you live in interesting times” is reputed to be a Chinese curse.  Seeing as this originated in China, it feels like we are living it.

Hi....yes I too am having a problem accessing CC with Chrome on my computer...as you say there is an overlay on the screen. No problem when I use Edge although it is rather slower to load  when using Edge

The technology is against us as well as the viruses!

I’ve got the overlay using Safari on my iPad.  Unusable.  Chrome is fine.  Weird, Eh?

I do feel for anyone with difficult decisions to make, especially as it seems that the situation will become clear within a few weeks.  The balance is due on our 7 night Iona cruise in the middle of next month.  If it was due today I would forfeit the deposit of £85 without a second thought, just to lose weeks of worry.

Looks like we should all book on board in future - losing £50pp deposit for every forfeited cruise is nowhere near as painful as 15 or 20%.

  6. There was a website - something like yourcruisecabin? which started an excellent database, inviting all cruisers to submit a brief report - basically just a tick list or x/5 click - after each cruise.  Iirc it was Brit-focussed, P&O, Cunard and US etc ships which tended to be based here

i don’t know if it, or anything much like it, still exist.  There are a couple of sites with plenty of cabin photos but they can’t record noise

  7. Is there a topic here?

What should cruisers do on sea days where the weather does not support using outdoor space?  Is it acceptable to use any public space for ‘just sitting’, or does use of a chair require purchase of a beverage, at least?  Should the Entertainment crew do more or are there enough ‘indoor events’ through the day?  Are the theatres used efficiently or could they be used more to show films, or to repeat speakers offerings?

This issue is one which puts me off ‘cold weather cruises’.  The other is the fact that it is so ccccccold near exterior doors, both sea days from smokers going in and out and port days when the gangway leads from public decks.  Plus potential bad weather and consequent change of schedule.  Not for me.  I’ll admit to being a wuss

  8. We are all individuals and experience things in our own way.  Such is life.

Imo (and everything written on here is simply that, an individual’s opinion) there is limited value in an individual detailing minutiae of niggles during one, possibly ill-chosen, cruise.  If complaints are serious and substantiated then they should be taken up with the company.  If, on the other hand, they are niggles, they might be addressed with onboard crew at the time, or noted in the post-cruise questionnaire.  I’m not sure there is much value in broadcasting to the (few) readers and contributors to a (?fading) online messageboard.

Live and learn.  If an experience has been bad for you then mull it over, think if there’s anything you could do to improve it, were you to repeat it; if the answer is no then, it seems to me, the answer is to avoid it in future.
