  1. Pic from Nov 30, 2016, decorations started around the 28th, fun to see more and more appear each day..on same cruise this year starting Nov 25th...heard the same thing about the Canadian company

  2. When we were on QE this summer...the price of the cruise we wanted to book was very high, they recommended we purchase a future cruise certificate for a deposit of $360 CAN each...good for 4 years...so can wait til a good deal comes along and then book and get the standard credit you would get if booked on board..

Interested in the platinum comment, how much credit are you offered, we are going on QM2 in late November and will be our first cruise as platinum

  3. We got our assignment today - sheltered balcony on deck 4, towards the aft section, near a small bank of lifts (4156).

We thought we were getting an obstructed view on deck 8; my husband is concerned that we have been offered a sort of down-grade, as he'd have preferred an obstructed - what is everyone's preference, obstructed or sheltered? Is it worth us calling our travel agent to get some advice?

Can you tell we're new to this?? [emoji23]

The same thing happened to us a few cruises ago, we booked a room on deck 8 with a little bit of a view, but noted we would take an upgrade..ended up on deck 4, technically sheltered balcony is in a higher category than instructed view on deck 8

in the end we paid more and got a better room but we have had sheltered a few times, it is ok as you have a full view, but only when standing, and I found the room slightly darker than a room with a glass balcony

find it interesting that deck 4 is not an option when you book, I think it is reserved to move people around.

  4. Loved it, upgraded last Xmas on QM2 when we saw the price dip for a few days..it was amazing, personally not worth the huge price difference as we can get 2 cruises for the price of one, but when a deal is too be had, go for it...the grill lounge was great for relaxing before dinner and having afternoon tea in a personalized setting..they also had a few private grill lounge entertainment options that we loved...the personal attention to detail at dinner etc is also amazing...

  6. We could only book a guarantee P2 for our cruise in 2016, we received a confirmation of a P2 about 6 weeks before departure.

Last year we had a confirmed P2, but were upgraded to a Q3 after a dramatic price drop.

This year we were going to book a confirmed P2, but were offered a guarantee P2 at a discount, so we took a gamble. We sail 7 weeks tomorrow, and have not had an allocation yet. Checking this morning, the cruise is sold out bar single cabins, although cabin availability seems to vary day by day.

Often wondered if a cabin does not become available, do they 'bump' you?

  7. They do have darts however they are of questionable quality (I tried them out). I would check to be sure they do not prohibit you from taking your own onboard (ie a restricted item).

Personally although the menu is limited I did enjoy lunch there. They do tend to get crowded for lunch. Also, I thought they had a decent selection of beers. Not sure every bar has the same selection of beers.

We sailed on QM2 this summer, brought our own darts and played on our own as well as joining the competitions where we all had to use the same ones...we then got on QE2 and where very disappointed to see that the dart board was only useable during the daily competition as there is a table in the way , as this is a pub, was expecting the same as QM2

  8. The package isn't for selling it is for giving away.

"Book this cruise and receive a free AI package worth $69 a day".

I called today to make a change to our next cruise..I asked about it, she said it was new package Cunard are trying that you buy when getting on board. I asked if both passengers had to buy it and she said no...I had the coffee package this summer on QE2 but it was only $8.50 plus grat..and only I had to buy it.

  9. How much is the package and can you buy it on board, or before or both.

Found some info - that states $69 per day...

Would you know if all passengers in the same cabin have to take it like other cruises or just the one who wants to take this package.

I would like the old coffee card on QM2 I had this summer, $15 per day seems very high just for specialty coffee, cost more than 3 coffees

  10. I was on Board TransAtlantic arrived September 9,2018

I bought the drinking package, includes cocktails, with Vodka or any hard Liquor. Wine by the glass

    Martinis.

There is a lot of resistance in selling this by some staff. I had a few encounters. The Wine Staff hates it , the Bar staff are better.

Depends on the bar , service can me good and will give a good serving of liquor.

It’s a new program, so it’s working with some issues.

    I’m glad I took it

  11. That is very exciting! We just last week booked a trip on Queen Victoria leaving on August 11, 2019, and we had no idea that the departure might be special. I have now gone from super happy to really super happy. [emoji3]

  12. Not worth having then as I might have the odd pint of lager then mainly cocktails which are mostly over $11.I will buy the cheap soda package and just pay for separate drinks

We were on QE for the trip to Iceland in August. We took QM2 over, they had a coffee card..then on QE they had a coffee/tea package for $8.50 a day plus 15%...not liking it being $15 per day, that’s a lot of coffee, that is almost double what we just paid...on QM2 in late November and was looking forward to the same deal

  13. Yes, thanks for reporting back. Of course finding a fare you are comfortable with is all that really matters in the end. But just to help you feel even better about your choice, here is a similar fare analysis to what I did previously for the voyage and cabin type you have chosen comparing Canadian, UK, and US fares.

    Cunard Canada

    Voyage V917, Cabin BD, Canadian Fare: C$4,124 + C$238.41 taxes & fees = C$4,362.41

    Cunard UK

Voyage V917, Cabin BD, UK "Cunard" Fare: £3,065 = C$5,166 (approx.)

    Cunard US

    Voyage V917, Cabin BD, US Fare: US$3,299 + US$176.59 taxes & fees = US$3,475.59 = C$4,501 (approx.)

So, for this particular voyage and the current currency exchange rates, the fares are currently skewed in favor of the Canadian fare in comparison to both the UK and US fares. Well done.

I think they fixed the drink package shortage and added more availability, the room we booked yesterday went from $4123 to $5786 today OMG, pays to watch the prices...

  14. This is one of those threads I like to investigate because it takes some detective work. We know from other threads that the OP is talking about a voyage that calls at Stornoway. That leaves two possibilities for next year.

    QV: Voyage V917 (30 June-14 July, 2019)

    QE: Voyage Q925 (6 Sept-20 Sept, 2019)

As it turns out, QE voyage Q925 is showing fares similar to what the OP has described for cabin category BE. Here is what I am seeing for that voyage and that particular cabin category on Cunard’s web sites for Canada and the UK, with the US thrown in for good measure. These are per-person fares, double occupancy.

    Cunard Canada

    Voyage Q925, Cabin BE, Canadian Fare: C$5,461 + C$254.44 taxes & fees = C$5,715.44

    Cunard UK

Voyage Q925, Cabin BE, UK "Cunard" Fare: £2,301 = C$3,828 (approx.)

    Cunard US

    Voyage Q925, Cabin BE, US Fare: US$4,369 + US$188.47 taxes & fees = US$4,557.47 = C$5,949 (approx.)

There are no flights involved. The US and Canadian fares do include the “Drinks on US” promotion which offers free drinks under $9 for balcony cabins. On the other hand, the UK fare offers $110 onboard spend. So, I have no good explanation for this pricing disparity between the UK and the Canada/US sites.

Booked the June 30th cruise on Q.V. this morning,

prices were similar to what was shown above for the September 6th QE sailing when we checked a week ago..just before when we got off QE.

Today we got the BD for $4123 plus port charges, no drinks as they say all gone, even though I stated it still shows...(false advertising, they should update website)

but we got free gratitudes, also as we had bought a future cruise credit so got another $600 US room credit,

and..our new booking does not have the restriction of non refundable deposit..

funny how things change in a week...

if we had booked on board, we would have got the free drinks, but this would not have been worth the difference of the fare then which would have been $1500 CAN each...

  15. The OP quoted prices for next year so they probably came from the Sales Office or the brochures & flyers freely available rather than personal conversation

    Hi just got off yesterday...

the prices I got were on board at the voyager sales office, although I did ck both Canadian and uk Cunard’s sites before going to see them..if we had a British address we could book and get the uk price, but as we do not ..the price is so much more...for CAN and USA travellers...in the end we bought a future travel voucher so we can watch the prices for Stornoway next year, as noted it is showing $3400 more for sept 6 for us, with or without drinks...compared to this year for a BE..

(without drink price is reg deposit vs non refundable for drink package).

  16. I asked for a price for sept 6 QE, drink package was $100 less than no drink package because it included a $500 non refundable deposit. I asked for the price without the non refundable deposit, what you get us no drinks and pay $100 more...and still $5700 vs $3800. For the same cabin.. oh well. Just upset as we missed Stornoway and why I booked the cruise we are on now. Trying to get back next year but the price is too much at this time

  17. I am very upset about this. K to try and book for next year and the cost is much much more..ok if I was British $3800 vs $5700 for the same cabin which we paid $4k for this room now..I understand weather issues, but this is the result of mechanical...any suggestion who I can escalate too who may help..my family is very upset too. All planned to meet with us on the 21st after 35 years....still no announcement on board, but the Stornoway port authority wrote to my friend late yesterday saying it was cancelled.
