  1. Bennett: Let us know the outcome. I went to the online application through BOA and do not see a line for a latitudes number. Also, we have three NCL BOA credit cards and we never had to tell anyone our latitudes number. However, things change everyday.

  2. Icewarrior: Do not take any chances especially if you get close to the 1000 cap each year. Just call the customer service phone number on the back of your cc and they will be able to tell you or connect you to someone who can tell you your exact anniversary date within a minute or two.

  3. Misty: We have done this in the past. We had $2000 in certificates. We applied $1200 to one cruise and $800 to the other. We did not book through NCL and still there wasn't a problem. I had attached a letter with the certificates I mailed to NCL asking them to apply so much to each reservation. You may want to keep calling until you get someone who will do it for you.

  4. We are also pay our auto, boat, and RV insurance with our credit card. :) I ordered $1500 in certificates on June 3rd. I received them on the 17th (exactly two weeks which is a little longer than usual) and mailed them in certified mail on the 19th. NCL signed for them on the 20th. (we live in FL thats the reason the received them the next day). I will give them a week or two to credit our reservation and will call to pay the balance of $32 on our cc of course. We're the couple whose 11-day cruise cost $1782 total minus our $250 certificate minus our $1500 certificates :D

  5. I agree with Preds. I leave the TA out of the mix completely. It adds to the mess if you call NCL to check on the status and you really don't know when and/or if the TA sent the certificates in already etc. This way you deal directly with accounting. I include a copy of my reservation where I deduct the amount of the certificates and indicate the balance due if any. I have applied certificates from two different cc accounts to two different cabins and they always get it right. Just make it clear what you are doing.:D These certificates make our total now $6000 since Nov.05

  6. Hi kdg51

Go to Insuremytrip.com and you can see all of the different companies and criteria for each. I have used them in the past.

Did CAS tell you that you will get a separate CAS card with a label which will get you free drinks in the casino? That's worth something alone. The only thing is some people are saying that the casinos are now offering free drinks quite frequently to everyone while playing.

  7. Hi Kdg51: As a matter of fact, I had booked in March. About three weeks later, NCL reduced the brochure price online by about $100 pp and made the price the same for all inside categories. So they moved us to a Category II and reduced our fare by a little more than $200. They would not let me use my free upgrade which I recieved after our last cruise. However, it would not have made a difference since we are at the highest inside and I don't think you can use it to go from an inside to an oceanview.

I called CAS for the first time to book after reading about it on these boards. I gently referred to all the time we spend at the blackjack tables on our past cruises with NCL and asked if I could book through them. Although we always got a CAS card, we never bothered having the pit boss track our play because we only play $5 and $10 hands. They told me they could not give us any comps but they could book the cruise for me. They were very nice on the two occasions I talked to them.

  8. I know you are all NCL credit card cheerleaders so you will appreciate this. We booked an 11-day Mexican Rivera cruise through CAS. The rate for an interior Category II was a total of 1782.52. We used our Freestyle Cruise Reward as our deposit leaving a balance of $1532.52. I just ordered our $1500 Compass Rewards yesterday to make sure we recieve them by the final payment date (July 30). We will now have a balance due of $32.52 as our final payment:D So out of pocket we are actually paying $182.52 for an 11-day cruise. ($150 cruise reward cost (I don't count the $100 OBC they gave us for buying it in November) and the $32.52). If there wasn't a fuel surcharge, it would have been $154 less.

Now, if I could just stay out of the casino:eek: The best deal out there for sure.

  9. We have always booked through TAs and receive the 4%. Our cc statement comes in with "NCL Reservations" as the person charging. It seems our TAs are only middlemen for customer service but do not lay out any money to NCL. They merely tell us how much NCL will be charging our account for deposits, final payments, etc.

  10. Neilstuber: As your posts can verify, these certificates are work. They are not for people who are not organized and do not follow up on things. They will definitely fall in the cracks if you let them. When all is said and done, we have always received all of our certificates credited correctly, but it is something you can not give up on. Do not take no for an answer and keep pushing until you get the answer you need. We have used approximately $6000 in these certificates so it is definitely worth it but man-oh-man there must be a way to make it easier.

  11. I am guessing it means you cannot apply it to receive a credit "after" you have cruised. In other words, it has to be accompanied by a current reservation. Also, now reading a copy of one I have, it seems the "cruise-related travel deposits" may be referring to you can not use them on your credit card toward airfare/hotel charges to get you to/from the cruise ship. Who knows???

The only problem with this program is that there isn't anyone to call to get a straight answer to these questions. If you call ten times, you get ten different answers. :o

  12. The "not to be used for downpayment" means you can not send in certificates to book your cruise. Once you give them a credit card number and your down payment is charged, you can send in your certificates to get your money credited back to your credit card. We have used certificates to pay 100 percent of our cruise including the down payment. This time (Pearl-Nov. 16th) we used $2500. However, this is only about 50% since we are taking all of the kids.:D

  13. Hi Kaitlin: We wanted to use some of our points to pay for part of two other cabins which are in our kids' name. I added each of them to our credit card as authorized users, asked to have our certificates mailed to us, sent them in with the reservation numbers from the kids reservation, waited for the credit from certificates to hit, then removed them as authorized users. It all took less than six weeks.:) They never even knew they were authorized users as the credit cards came to our house.

  14. We are leaving on the Pearl on Friday. Port parking will be $150 for the time we will be gone. I looked at car rentals, family favors, and long-term parking. I will have to decide by tomorrow whether we will be using either United or CBM. I believe we used the place called Continental one time when we flew out of Miami for a week. We got back in the pouring rain and did not notice the ding in the back bumper until we got home. : (

I think we will use whoever has self-parking in hopes that there wouldn't be any reason to move our car. They have weekly rates of about $50 plus the additional days. I'll let you know how I make out.
