Cool...I think we will end up requesting #5....not quite as private as #6 but the kids can get into the water where it is deep or walk in from the sand and we will be able to see them from the cabana without much fuss.  They are both avid swimmers and snorkel so not really 'worried' anymore than a typical parents always does.

We have had #5 in the past as well and it does have easier access to the beach. I’m sure you’ll love whatever you end up with!!

How do you get into the water from 6?  It step and ladder right?  What's the depth?  I'm trying to figure out what's best for my kids....I don't want to book a Cabana and then have to sit on the beach all day anyway 😉

There is a metal ladder between the 2 cabanas. Not the most comfortable but just take your time. The depth is probably 3-4 feet. You might want to consider one of the beach cabanas that are right in front of the water if it is a concern. If your kids are pretty young that might be a better option. I have teenagers so they are self sufficient, mostly. LOL

*sorry! Just noticed the post with the ages of your kids

  3. We were star class last October. Star class gets first dibs on barefoot beach cabanas and then the rest of the suites can book them. When you hear from your genie about a month out just specifically tell them what kind of cabana you want and you should have no problem getting what you want. I even requested a specific one and I got it.

The comedy club is certainly hit or miss.  I understand it is adult, that being said our most

recent sailing was disgusting.  The comedian focused primarily on his need for oral sex, he even

simulated a person unwilling  performing oral sex.  Am I the only one who doesn't think this is

funny?  I wish there were some parameters so scheduling this with family and friends isn't a

    big gamble in taste level.

This sounds like the same guy I saw on the Oasis last November. He spent a lot of time on the oral sex angle. I was with my mother and I had taken her on the cruise because we just lost my grandmother. I was hoping to have some laughs to relieve our grief. Instead, I was mortified sitting through this part of the show next to my mom.  We didn’t leave but I was very uncomfortable.

  5. I was on Indy in March in a suite.  They swiped our cards.  I have never had them swiped on an Oasis class ship in a suite.  At the end of our Indy cruise I had $100 charge for pool towels.  I was very careful to turn them all in so I had to make a trip to guest services late the last night.  Good thing I checked my account before disembarkation morning!

Quick/early on....quick/early off. That's 90% of the value of The Key, and it's included in a JS.

The other "The Key" stuff is mostly fluff and questionable dribble. Just read all the posts of people who got "The Key" and then reported back how little it really brought them and how they'd "never get it again".

There is no escorted departure for junior suites unless I am missing some other quick/early off that I have missed while staying in one.  It has only been for grand suites and above.

  7. I was on Indy last month and did the escape room. It never showed up on my cruise planner. I was in a suite so I contacted the suite concierge ahead of time and he booked it for me. I would do it as soon as you board the ship if you’re not in a suite. It was a lot of fun. I have done them on Harmony and Anthem as well.

Columbus Cove isn't showing as an option to book in my Cruise Planner.  Only Nellie's.  I'll get my TA to look at it on Monday.

Columbus Cove only has the beach bungalows, not the cabanas. They are a little different but are in their own private area.

Are they still very aggressive with sales at the end? I would be more inclined to tip more if they weren't.

I always write in large letters “No Product Sales” on the sheet I fill out before the massage. If they stick to that I tip them extra. I’ve never had an issue since I started doing this. It used to ruin the experience.

  10. Andrew, thank you so much for another awesome review. I was sharing the handbag cake pictures with my teenage girls when they asked who your genie was (we’ve only done star class once).  When I told them Charlie they were insanely jealous as they had him in the teen center a few years ago before he became a genie and they still talk about how awesome he was! Can’t wait for your next one. Safe travels!

  11. I just noticed this today too for my March sailing. I’ve never seen it before today. When we get money off of our sea pass at the casino they give us slot tickets or chips. You can’t turn those back in for cash. You have to cash them in the machine or change out your chips at the tables before getting cash in return. I’m assuming this would work the same way.

  12. If you read between the lines it seems strange that security would be involved over accidently spilled wine. We all joke that spilled drinks are a “crime” but....

Araceli is a wonderful person. You will enjoy her. We board Harmony on the 20th so we will see her then, even though she won’t be our Genie. Out of curiosity, what cabin are you in next week?

We are in 8730- A1 2 bd aqua theater suite. Very excited! First star class experience.

  13. That’s my understanding, at least by the post I saw on social media.

Araceli is my genie on Harmony this Saturday and I emailed her to ask about Labadee and the earthquake. I took this opportunity to ask her about winegate and this was her response. I’m not sure if she is downplaying it or if this is really what happened:

I was the Genie in that incident, there was a situation with the seats in the theater but they did not throw wine at me, they spilled a glass of wine and my guest had it on his shirt and pants, later on when I came to take my guest with the other party I sat down on the chair next to him and I got some wine on my pants as well, but nothing bad. I will explain how it all happened once you come onboard. Not sure what exactly is online but guests had a meeting with security.
