My family and I (a party of 9) are thinking of taking the 6-hour Capital City Tour & Beach Splash with Thenford Grey while we are docked in St. Kitts. Has any CC taken this tour? We are seeking feedback. TIA
Little late to the posts here...but I would suggest emailing him about a privet tour for your group. The privet tours are very well priced. Did the tour you are asking about last year and it was the best tour of the WHOLE cruise we took.
Coolwhip82, we have reserved Mr. Grey for our cruise, Nov 24 on the Fascination. After checking here and other places, I decided he was the tour guy for us. Hope whoever you select gives you the best tour. You will love the tour. We loved it so much all the other tours we took last year on our cruise failed it meet this companies high standards. Hope you enjoy the tour as much as we did.

I, myself, recommend Thenford Grey. Did his tour last year and loved it. My mom and I are doing a privet tour this year with them. More personalized to what we want to see and do. It is only 50.00 more then the regular tour per person.

LOVED his tour last year and doing it again in Oct/Nov. Always gets back to me within a day or two. However with the pending hurricane coming I am sure they are more worried with preparing for that to make sure their families and friends are safe then answering emails right now.
I would say if you have not gotten a reply in the next few days email them again.

Okay my family can only sale during the Christmas holiday. I know I have to pay extra for the room and specialty restaurants. But, the photo package with pictures is $295. Almost $100 more than the normal price I have seen people quote. I need advice trying to figure if I should take the plunge. My kids are 21, 20 and 18. This might be one of our last true "family" vacations. How are the quality of the pictures? Will the lines for pictures on Oasis be so long that we wont have many taken? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for your thoughts nad imput ahead of time.
In the end you have to make the choice for your self if it is worth it or not. However this is my take on it (in a story).
Last Nov./Dec. was mine and my mothers first cruise. First trip we ever did together and we had not had photos done in 20+ years. So I got the print photo package for us. From the start of the cruise with the welcome aboard photo you take when getting on the ship, to the photos at night to the photos taken in port we had photos done together and by our self. The photos turned out great. When we got home we figured out the price and if we would have paid for each one it would have been about 3,000.00 for them all. We were able to use them for Christmas presents and have them hanging up. This year when we go we will not be getting them...not because we did not love the photos or anything, but because my sister is getting a cruise for her 45th birthday that the 3 of us are taking together and we will be getting one then. So to us it was worth it.
Another factor you have to think about this might be the last real family vacation that the 5 of you take together...good way to remember it.

It would be at the top on the blue line in Cruise Planner.

I hadn't really thought about that to be honest. I was going to wait until Christmas but I also want him to have input on the shore excursions and if he wants to do any specialty dining or spa treatments.
I was thinking about gifting him a backpack full of cruise items for Father's Day and tell him about it then. I could include sunblock, a hat, sunglasses, a pack of cards, a map of the ship etc.
Or I could buy him a little floating boat for their bath!
You can still give it to him for Christmas and have his input on the shore excursions and such. Because mine is for my sisters birthday I will give her all the information on the ports and excursions after she finds out about it on Christmas morning.
For Father's Day you could do a count down to Christmas counter and on each number tease him about a big surprise for Christmas. That way you get the fun of two holidays surprising him.

So I spent this afternoon researching and have already put a deposit down for a cruise next year! RCI had a 7 night Pacific Island cruise leaving Sydney for a very very good price, even included a balcony for Dad!
226 days till it departs and I can't wait to surprise him! Now comes all the fun planning trips, figuring out shore excursions and what to pack!
Have you thought about how you are going to surprise dad yet???? I am surprising my sister for her 45th birthday with a cruise. I have been working on it for 9 months now. This is what I am doing to surprise her with the cruise.
This is year she will be celebrating her 45th Christmas. So what I did was had a poster made telling here the cruise ship, dates and ports of call on it...this is the 46th Christmas present because it is really her birthday present. Gifts 1-45 are things that she will need on the cruise...like sun block, flip flops, and so on. Each item has a poem with it also. I put each thing with the poem that it belongs to and wrapped it up. And that will be her Christmas presents and the last one she opens is her birthday present telling her she is going on a cruise for her birthday in February.
Good luck with the surprise with your dad.

Growing up in Baltimore, I ate fries and gravy. It was good. I order that other places and people find it odd.
Try asking for them in Texas...then look at ya like you have 3 heads! Love gravy fries....life would not be the same without them!!!

can you let me know if they have Dr.Pepper in the freestyle machines thanks
Dr. Pepper is not a coke product so Dr Pepper would not be in the Freestyle Machines.

Note to self: when in a Baltimore sports bar do not ask the bartender to put the Yankees game on one of the TVs.
Only time you will see a Yankees game on a tv in Maryland is 1. If the person is a trader/NY transplant or 2. The O's are playing the Yankees!
Have a safe trip!

Sadly there are those for which RCI can do absolutely no wrong, regardless of circumstance. Any suggestion that an employee of the company might have done something less than stellar is met, as you have seen, with belligerence.
I don't think that is true! I would not care what cruise line it was...it's the fact she did not call the bank to let them know she was going on vacation. And secondly as someone else pointed out you are hearing only her side you don't know if she provoked them or what have. So to make that assumption, you are wrong also!

ok but do u see the irony that they would not accept it without the physical card on board but as soon as I get off the ship I can call and use it to pay the balance without the physical card?
It is a fine line...splitting hair so to speak...I work at a hotel in a resort town and we would not take it this way either. And as someone stated before you can get real-time authorization over the phone when you call into the place.
The card had my name on it I had pictures of both sides and discover on the phone saying it was my card. This don't mean anything...unless it is something like applepay and the company is able to take applepay! Most business's want the card to swipe because you could get mad and call and dispute the charge on your card and because it was not swiped the company (Discover in this case) could say that it was stolen and will not pay it. Where I work, even though the card is on file, if you do not have the physical card then we can not and will not charge that card.
Sorry they threatened you with arrest...however thinking they should give you more then 300.00 and that they ruined your vacation is going overboard!!! Because in all reality YOU were the one that ruined your vacation because you did not call your credit card company to let them know that you were traveling with your card and where you would be traveling too. And I understand that you did not want the Discover card stolen, but there is a safe in the cabins on the ship that you could have left it in. You are blaming RC are you demanding compensation from your bank also for freezing your card, because by your accounts it is everyone else's fault so they ruined your vacation also????

If I remember right it is only about a 5 minute walk between the two. So if they do drop you at Vendors Plaza you can walk over to Main St. Also if St Thomas is one of your last stops before heading home and you send postcards, buy the stamps at home and mail them from St. Thomas....same rate as the main land. That is what I did last year.

If you have Att go to one of the authorize dealer stores or call them to add the cruise calling package to your phone. I did a lot of calling from the ship home and they called me also. Was more then the package because I went over the allotted minutes I got, but was cheaper then what the ship would charge and a piece of mind to keep in touch with home!

Another thing I am doing for my sister is that some childhood friends will be meeting us on the cruise as well as a few cousins that she will not know about until we are on the ship

What about a poster to put on the door??? Add a sharpie and ask neighbors of her room to wish her a happy birthday!
Something special for her and something she will have to remember her cruise with. I am doing that in February for my sisters birthday cruise!!!

We did Thenford Grey's Grand Island tour back in 2011 on our very first trip to St. Kitts! We absolutely LOVED it and the island!!! Mr. Grey was our tour guide. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable. This tour was a full 6 hour day!! We felt like we saw the entire island- Downtown, Romney Manor, Brimstone Fortress, and beautiful cliff top views for pictures! We stopped at a road side stand and were able to browse and take pictures holding a monkey! We even got to spend at least 2 good hours on the beach!! I was extremely nervous using an "non cruise line" tour for the first time and getting back to the boat on time, but no worries needed! We had plenty of time. We saved Mr. Grey's card and just pulled it out again as we are looking at doing a cruise that stops at St. Kitt's again. We would not hesitate to take another tour with him! We were blown away that in 6 years, his prices have only gone up about $5!! If we stop in St. Kitt's again, we would do either the downtown and beach tour, or the Nevis tour! Definitely worth the money!
I am right there with you with Grey's tours. Loved the tour we did with Mr. Grey's brother. We are going back to St. Kitts in November and have already been in contact with him about doing a private tour with him to see even more of the island.
For us Grey's came highly recommended and glad we took the chance and did his tour. The downside is the other 3 tours we tours we took on the cruise failed in comparison.

Just wondering, other than Thenford Grey (and the above taxi one), what other tours are there?
You can do the ones through your ship or google it and see what comes up.
Me as this was my first trip went with Thenford Grey because of such high reconditions from a good amount of people I know, from my TA and from the boards. And it did not let me down at all!

St. Kitt's - a tour that includes Brimstone Hill - the views alone are amazing

For St Kitts I would suggest Grey's tour!

Which one of his tours did you take?
It was the one that had the option to go to the beach. We skipped the beach. Loved it that when we return in October we are going to do a private tour with them.

Waiting for Thenford Grey

It is so sad about St Martin. I live in a hurricane prone area as well but at least I can get out of the area. I can not imagine having to stay on an island like that where the whole island is covered by the hurricane.
