Any speculation as to which line and how soon the Galaxy Note 7 will be banned from ships? Fire at sea being one of the biggest fears. If they can ban irons and other heat sources it would not be a stretch to see devices with flaming batteries get banned too. Or has a line banned them already?
Good question. They're already on the FAA "no fly" list, so I'm not sure how many could end up on a cruise ship anyway, though some folks are lucky enough to be able to drive to the cruise terminal.

Other than sitting out watching the world go by and the wind blowing thru my hair is there really any extra benefit to being in a balcony stateroom? Carnival Magic is the boat and hoping to get level 9.
If you are on the correct side of the ship, balconies are fun when you leave port. Also nice for room service breakfast.

Me too. Short of them being naked nothing would really bother me.
And sometimes not even that.

I would go on cruise critic and write a review capitalizing words for no apparent reason saying how this couple at the table ruined the cruise for me.

For some reason I find random capitalization more offensive than casual dress. :)

Carnival is great for kids. But I haven't been on Norwegian.

We have two cruises booked in the caribbean in feb 2017, but with the Zika virus going on we might not be able to cruise in the caribbean next year.
If we are expecting a baby we won't take the risk of going to there.
That made us look for different areas to cruise in. Since we are booked on RCI we have three options, Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand & Vietnam), the middle east (Dubai, Oman, Abu Dhabi) and Australia (South Pacific, Tasmania, New Zealand).
How different is it to cruise in different parts of the world on the same line?
I understand that the ports is different, but I'm talking about the experience onboard.
Congrats on the new baby. Personally, I'd go with South Pacific/New Zealand/Australia. Just curious, you're shooting for 50 countries and haven't visited Canada?

Had to buy them on Amazon. They have the first two seasons on DVD for $35

We don't have to fly for this cruise!!! I was asking for some newbies that are traveling with us. :)
This is our first cruise without flying. :) Looking forward to getting dropped off at the SF cruise terminal.

My DW and I are cruising next month. Every time we get an email from the captain we joke about it being from "Captain Stubing".

rarely do you see cruise fare including air except on expensive lines.
Use to be able to bring wine on board and paying corking and sometimes no corking fee was charged.
Cocktail parties aboard for repeat passengers were with real cocktails... lol.
Princess still lets you bring unlimited wine on board. First two bottles are free. You pay $15 corkage on any additional ones.

We are taking a Carnival Cruise soon. If you want to bring a bottle of wine or can soda on the ship you pack it in your carry on luggage & not your checked luggage....Is this correct? :)
That's right - put the wine in your carry on. Which is tricky if you fly, because the airlines require wine to be in a checked bag only. Don't forget to move the wine to the carry on before you board or Carnival will seize your vino.
The Carnival website should have details of their alcohol policy.

8 years ago I saw a nice watch in the gift shop that I really liked, but assumed the price would be lower on shore, so I waited. We had to do a lot of shopping around to find the same low price as on the ship. Also, if you want a souvenir T shirt or sweatshirt, some days they offer deep discounts.

Thanks, XBGuy. Good to hear it from someone who's done it.

We're stopping at Long Beach, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Ensenada. I know my way around Santa Barbara because I went to grad school at UCSB. We did the wine trip in Ensenada on a Carnival cruise and had a great time so we're doing that again. Long Beach - maybe walk over to the Queen Mary. They also have a submarine you can visit. I've been to San Diego a few times so we'll figure something out to do on our own there.

Welcome to Carnival. The prices are low until you get on the boat. Then it's a constant upsell.

I'd wear it. You may be among the few, but you'll also be the best dressed guy in the place. Nothing wrong with that. Don't worry about July - I was on the Pride in Mexico in June and people wore tuxes (and dark suits) on formal night. The ship has A/C after all.
As for long gowns, I think a cocktail dress is a better way to go especially in the summer.

The Passage Contract, which you must accept does state "...any alcohol found in violation of the one bottle policy will be removed and discarded." I have only seen one or maybe two reports of that occurring and that was in Australia. The typical procedure is to have additional bottles found in checked luggage charged the $15 corkage. In your friends case there would have been no corkage because there were two bottles and two passengers of drinking age. It is one bottle per passenger of drinking age, not two per cabin if you are sailing as a solo. It is unclear if three bottles are allowed if there are three or more adults sharing a cabin.
I have an issue with Princess because the terms of the Passage Contract supersede anything written on boarding passes or luggage tags and the crew are within their rights to remove alcohol and discard it. I believe this phrase was intend to apply to alcohol other than wine but it has been applied to wine. If I was bringing expensive wine on board it would be in my carryon.
I'm concerned about some of the ambiguity here as well. We don't have our luggage tags yet, but the FAQs at princess.com clearly state that you can more than two bottles of wine from home, just expect to pay corkage. No worries there, my DW is in the wine business and has accumulated an outstanding collection at prices far, far below retail. Adding $15 corkage still has us drinking and sharing excellent wine at a comparative bargain. My concern is that the passage contract indicates two bottles only and I don't want to get off the shuttle at the cruise terminal with something I can't bring on board. Has anyone had issues bringing aboard more than two bottles of wine?

Good thought on the tie! I have a colorful tie designed by the late Jerry Garcia. As we're sailing from SF, seems like a natural choice.
I bet your hubby looks dashing in his tweed suit. My favorite jacket is a brown tweed that I often wear on business trips.

Thanks for the tip. We leave out of SF on the 18th, so we'll be getting off the boat just before you board!

What would you do in the MDR?

Thanks, you made me laugh out loud. When I was single I signed up for eHarmony, the online dating sight. One prospective date, Heidi, stated in her profile that she "could not be with a man who listened to country music, supported George W. Bush or attended church regularly." So there you have it.
