  1. It would really depend on what and how much you plan to eat at the various restaurants. If it were me I would book my five nights amongst the various specialties and save the other two nights for formal nights or to just try out the buffet once and the mdr.

I don't expect you will find much savings trying to pick and choose what you order. I specifically bought a dining package on my last cruise (I had free UBP, DSC and OBC) just so I didn't have to worry about the a la carte packages.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  2. Based on the fact that I will never have a room with a Butler....I would say our experiences will be different.

I used to think that way. But, three out of my last four cruises have been in the Haven or in a suite so things change, there is hope. :)

  3. When possible I like to get a no interest till at least date of travel reward card before going on a cruise and prepay everything including tolls, hotels, cars, plane tickets, parking, excursions, etc.

I do this because I will owe no interest if I pay it off before I cruise, I price protect to a degree by pre-purchasing items, I receive rewards for purchasing on the card and the cruise is budgeted and paid off by the time the cruise arrives.

  4. I'm already paying 18% which I already think is criminal for a tip, especially since inflation should cover pay raises when on tips so I only tip if in a suite and tip the butler, steward and concierge. I also often tip on tours to the guide/driver. I don't have need for child care services or I would tip them too.

Otherwise I feel like I am throwing away money when tips have already been paid.

  5. Not only do I have confirmation from both my Travel agent and MSC, I also logged into my MSC account and purchased a laundry package. My birthday was incorrect, so I know I"m in the right spot :). No worries RTN, you won't show up and have problems. With the interline rate you need to show id at booking not at the pier. I'm confident MSC is honoring the price as there are still dates showing the reduced rate. WAY TO GO MSC!!! I'm becoming more of a fan daily. .

Good for you! :) I just hope you didn't kill my chance for an upgrade. :D:eek::rolleyes: Anyone know how far out they usually start making offers? Has anyone ever received an opportunity to upgrade both segments of a B2B?

  6. The word from a tablemate tonight, heard in the casino, was that the emergency was a heart attack, the the delay leaving was because he passed, and then all the formalities. We are still confused as to whether the patient was male or female. EM

What a sad way to end a cruise. My prayers go out to the family of the deceased.

  7. I SURE HOPE SO Vicocala!!! I'm not seeing YC for $500-$600 hundred per sailing, the cheapest I've seen is $869.00 so you are finding prices even lower than I am! Crossing fingers for you :)

NOPE! the $600 was the difference in price of my current cabins vs the YC1. I called my TA who claimed I already have the lowest prices available. I think it may be a glitch as I tried booking one website twice, once I got the good price and once the regular price.

I will enjoy my B2B like I have it I guess. It would of been a nice treat. Who knows maybe I'll get an upsell offer if these prices aren't legit.

  8. Dang, just saw this a few minutes ago and was on the line when they broke connections at 9:00.

They have them still on another TA from mine.

My TA is closed and still showing 1999. Will MSC honor the other TA's price if I can get to them first thing in the morning?

I have a B2B with two great cabins but if I can get in YC for 500-600 per segment total, I would do it in a heartbeat!

  9. From http://www.insidermonkey.com/blog/poor-first-quarter-results-push-these-five-stocks-lower-today-448222/

CCL also dipped 1.1% on Tuesday, and RCL dipped a matching 4.7%, so the one-day decline in stock price was across the board for the three main public cruise companies. Today they are all up:

    Comparison

    Symbol% Chg Mkt Cap

    NCLH Up 1.13% 10.76B

    RCL Up 0.90% 16.37B

    CCL Up 0.60% 38.29B

From an investors point of view, missing by ten million wasn't the real problem, it is their forward outlook where they appear to be way below the analysts in their forecasting.

  10. I think they are either banking and hoping that there are a lot more $400 stories out of this or no one will use the credit. In either case they come out ahead. I do think if they run it for long they will require security as the play spaces on the ships won't hold much capacity at a time.

While I understand you view this as a more family friendly set of perks I'm with the others. You lose flexability on the OBC and I would rather have the 3/4 nights of specialties over the pictures. We bring our own camera for that. :)

  11. It seems most of the upsells are happening on the larger ships. We are sailing on the Spirit in 10 days and there are still 7 suites available and upsells have not started for our sailing.

Perhaps because it is in Europe now? I got an upsell on my March cruise on the Spirit 17 days out.

  12. I noticed while I have two fantastic cabins coming up, (an aft balcony and a large slanted balcony respectively) that some suites are still available on our cruises in June.

How and when does MSC handle upgrades and upsells? NCL now has a dedicated phone line to their upsell department that you can call to see if any deals will be forthcoming.

    Does MSC have anything similar?
