For history and architecture stay in Palma. Visit the cathedral and the royal palace. Plus the rest of the old town. If you are on a long port day, you could also do a half day tour to Valldemosa and/or Soller. But don't miss Palma. The whole island is beautiful.

Thank you so much for the helpful advice!

Do anything else.  Tour Palma, it is amazing. If you can also add Valldemosa, even better.

Flamenco is not typical of this region, especially not of Mallorca.  It is performed in the south of Spain (Andalusia).  This will be strictly a show for foreign tourists who do not know any better.  Mallorca is beautiful. Enjoy the island.

Thanks for the honest opinion!  Both Valldemossa and the train to Soller look interesting. We are really into history, architecture and  just wandering pretty squares. Shopping is not a priority. Which would you recommend?

  3. Hi. I’ve booked the Son Amar Flamenco show through the ship for our Celebrity Equinox cruise starting in one week. But I’m having last minute thoughts about whether to use so much of our day on Palma with this

Has anyone done this excursion lately?  Or seen a show there?

Wondering if our time would be better spent touring Palma City or maybe visiting Valdemossa….

  4. Hi,  I have booked a ship's tour to Asilah with a city tour of Tangier afterwards.

Has anyone has taken this excursion?

I'm wondering if it allows any time for shopping in one of the markets in Tangier.

    Thanks!

Thanks, but I was looking for more tangible information. I appreciate your reply though.

    Hi Squiggles.

As the other recent posts in this forum have said, there don't appear to be any cruise ships stopping at Trinidad and Tobago right now.  I know Royal Caribbean starts in November, so hopefully we will start to see some feedback then.

I know it's frustrating at this point.  I have also tried to ask questions on the T*Advisor forum, but get no answers or oddly short answers when I ask about safety or about things to do.  Our cruise stops at Trinidad during Carnival, which sounds great, but when I asked about suggestions for where we could hang out to see parade/costumes, all I got was "Queens Savannah Park" (which is specifically spelled out in the State Department warning as a place to avoid!).  It kind of leads me to think that maybe locals know they've got a serious crime problem, but don't want to "trash" their island on the forum.  Most posts do say that Tobago is considered safer...

  6. Hi.

Really interested in doing this on Equinox next May!  LOVE sea turtles, so I would love to have that be my souvenir for the trip 🐢

Anyone have any updates on this experience?

Are they still letting you do a lot of the work yourself?

And someone mentioned that on Equinox you need to go to the glass area during the first day demo? And wondering how early ion boarding day we need to go there.

On Jewel in June and our cabin was definitely not updated. A fair bit of scratches, nicks, dings and semi-functioning drawer and door hardware.

Yeah, I just thought it odd that some reviews said cabins were updated and some weren't.  Maybe it was just that certain cabins are showing more wear and tear.

My suggestion is to request a table for 6 and a table for 4. We travel with friends and family totally 10 - 12 or more. We used to request a table for 10 or 12 and found that conversations were impossible. We have found that a table for 6 is much more enjoyable. We switch seats between tables each night so that we get to dine and converse with everyone over the course of of the cruise.

Yes, unless you have kids in the group that need to be with parents, I would second the recommendation for 2 tables.  We've done several cruises with groups of 10-12 and conversations more enjoyable at a table of six.

  9. Thanks.  Yes, mostly answers my questions.  I AM concerned about not being on a ship's excursion at a destination so far from the port.

I have booked Celebrity's excursion for now.

The only thing that concerns me, though, is when I read the description of the tour it says "From the Albaicín, view the breathtaking Alhambra Palace", which almost makes it sound as if there isn't an actual tour of the palace, so I'll have to research that.  No way I would go all the way to Granada and not tour the Alhambra palace!

  10. Hi. Will be on a Celebrity cruise in May that includes Malaga.

Definitely want to see the Alhambra, and I am going with a ship's excursion due to the distance from the port to Granada.

They offer a guided tour, or a do-it-yourself option.

Just curious - those people who went on a guided tour from their ship - how much time did you get at Alhambra?  Did you feel it was enough time.

And those who did it on their own - how long did you spend at the site?

    Thanks!

  11. Hi.

Wondering if anyone has any recent feedback on cabin 9179 on Solstice-class ( or the cabins right near by).

The cabin compilation shows one review that says there is a crew door nearby that makes it noisy, but doesn't go into any details about what times of day the noise is.  We don't mind noise during the day or evening, but would prefer not to be right next to early morning crew chatting and banging doors.

  12. Hi.

We are booked on Equinox for a Portugal & Spain cruise in May.

Any general ideas about when the showtimes for the major shows will be?

Are they likely to be at 8pm and 10 pm?

I can't find any Celebrity Today schedules to look at.

We always like to go to the shows, but prefer showtimes earlier than 10 pm, so I'm thinking I should make dinner reservations around 6:30 pm, but not sure.

  13. Hi.

The only balcony cabins left for the May 2024 cruise I am looking at are on deck 6.

It looks like the obstructions for the cabins at the end of the ship would be less annoying, but I am finding conflicting reports about noise from these cabins.

Most of the cabins in the 6290's are available.  Is there any advantage of port vs. starboard, or further back vs. further forward?

    Thanks!

  14. Well, that was dumb of me 🙄

Yes - Radiance class - Jewel of the Seas.

Like I said, I'd already heard about it being loud in the evenings, and that didn't worry me.

I was just worried about rehearsals being early morning.  If the rehearsals are in the afternoons, that won't be an issue.  My afternoon naps are usually on a deck chair 😁

I have a booking for jewel for next year,

right now its showing $29.99 vs 18.99 for internet which IMO is too much

Last week it was $19.99 and I think the internet went to $17.99. thats still like a $40 premium but not a big enough one that I didnt do it.

Same here - sailing on Jewel next year.  Bought it at around $21, since we had planned to buy internet for 2 devices anyways.  For only $40 more a person, it was worth it, but I wouldn't buy it at $29.99.  Frankly, I bought it mostly for the debarkation benefit.  Hate the zoo on debarkation day when you're trying to make a flight ...
