  1. Do you not do anything but cruise ?  Believe or not there are other vacations you could  have done  last year and this , We do cruise once or twice a year  but we also do adult all inclusive twice a year . We where  Cancun last Sept  height of the covid and  in Punta Cuna Dec over the holidays  . This year last month Riviera Cancun . Sept another one . Dec we will see what happens on the cruise ship as it is not worth going with a lot of restrictions .

That is a good question. What if someone develops COVID while on the ship? What will CDC require to return to the US? Too much uncertainty. We will wait to cruise from and back to  US port.

We have a cruise booked  Dec 2022 should be back to normal by then . But on the other hand  we have been to Plays del Carmen last Sept and in Dec over teh holidays in  Punta Cana.  Leave for Cancun in two weeks for two weeks We felt safer there than at home

Is anyone looking into how to get a test done prior to entering the US after disembarkation? We were planning to go right from the port to the airport but maybe we need to add another day in SXM? (twist my arm!) haha.

You are the first person to ask  here is the list that we know of    What happens if you come up positive.  Is Celebrity going to cover that cost for lodging ?  We have covid coverage on our yearly travel insurance but most policy's do not

Red Cross drive - Hope Estate

Royal also sailing from Nassau in June...

No word on testing if a negative test is still required to return to your home country.

To fly back to states you have to have a test  we flew out of country twice last year and none needed BUT  we are going out in April and have to get one to come back home

On January 12, 2021, CDC announced an Order requiring all air passengers arriving to the US from a foreign country to get tested no more than 3 days before their flight depart

This is why I won't book a cruise until I see what it's going to be. I can just do a land vacation with less hoops to jump through. With the constant itinerary changes, rate hikes, the uncertainty of when it will start and all of the protocols cruising has lost the appeal it once had.

We have gone to Mexico Costa Mujeres in Sept  and     Punta Cana in  Dec  2020.   Mask was needed in Mexico when you walked into a public area only   and in Punta Cana no mask needed anywhere .  At that time we where not vaccinated . Now we are and are booked  April for  Playa de Carmen   Sept  not sure yet  and Dec Jamaica    We only stay at adult all  inclusive  have been doing it twice a year for years and on long cruise a year    You can go on vacation  but land is only way right now and  this year no cruises

  6. We buy yearly travel  insurance  for us it is cheaper. Last year DEC we added covid insurance to policy . As we traveled in Sept and Dec  2020

The main reason we buy it is for the  air medical transport as if you do not have that and have to pay for it you can be in for a huge bill  ours covers $1,000,000 Plus it covers all of the normal  medical trip and lost luggage other ones have . You can buy it by the trip  but for us we do about 8 weeks per year so it is better yearly .

I can't see it. One of the great things about cruising is how much of your time can be spent doing what you want when you feel like doing it. This is like planning out entertainment on O class ships but on steroids.

It is not going to happen doing what you want when you feel like doing it for a long time .  We have been in Playa del Carmen and Punta Cana last year Set and Dec and every year 2 twice a year for years   had no problems at all . But remember most things are outside and they only allowed 50% plus free covid insurance and starting now they are offering free testing to get home ,. We are Booked for Jan 2023 as cruising should be back to normal by then.

  8. Are you going to agree with this . If one does it they all will soon or later

Carnival will restrict access to public spaces, and venues/activities will operate at reduced capacity. The line says it may use a reservation system for public areas including pools, gyms, casinos, restaurants, bars and entertainment productions. SO no matter what you want to do you have to have a reservation

  9. If they want to cruise all they have to do is like all the adult all inclusive"s we have been to last year.

I just can not see them at 60% capacity  no food lines at all  only sit down only QR codes on phones to see menus only two people at a table  when you walk in to a building step on sanitizer mat take your temp and hand sanitizer in front of them if you walk out of the dining room and come back in have to redo it again.  two loungers and then two missing  very little chairs at bars  entertainment area  the same 2 chairs missing and every other row empty,  inside a building mask wearing. Rooms are not used twice in a row  luggage is sprayed out side before they bring it inside the lobby. Free medical and room if you do get sick. Now you need a negative PCR test 72 hours before you go and come and they provide that free when you are going back home. Like the airlines state the receipt of vaccination  is not usable .

Can a cruise ship really do all of that with 60% of space  is inside now RCCL whats to track you with wrist bands and can not get off unless with excursion from ship if the island allow it .  They are pushed out till April but that is spring break I would say Sept  only 7 days  mostly at sea .

Went out on the Victory Casino Ship out of Port Canal last Thursday (very well done by the way masks and gloves required at all times, plenty of social distancing and sailed with 25% of normal passengers).

The Victory ship goes out three miles and basically cruises back and forth while patrons gamble. Very strange to be so close to many of the cruise ships that are anchored out there. You could clearly see the staff waving from the balconies. Must have been at least 10 ships anchored out there.

We are paid up on a September 14 2020 eleven night on Equinox and are booking a holiday cruise to cover Christmas and New Years. We will just have to wait and see how it goes...

We  have deposit on the Reflection   Wednesday, Dec 23, 2020  Christmas and New Years  paid almost nothing for a front facing cabin we do not care where it is at  and free beverage and gratuities . We have till Sept for final payment will decide on what is happening on the ships before that payment is due

    Great question....

I am ready to board now!

However... I am still waiting for my refund.  Paid in Full in November 2019.  Cruise cancelled March 2020... Celebrity is still holding my money hostage!

    * New normal needs to at least include Celebrity being able to refund money paid in 30-days or less for cancelled cruises.

    * New normal needs to clearly identify what will be offered on the ship.

    * New normal I expect should include:

         * Guests will sign liability release at time of ticket purchase acknowledging risks associated with traveling on a cruise ship

and agree to not sue if any disease is contracted.

         * Elevator buttons will be sanitized every 30-minutes.

         * Open Gym - Sanitizer to be at each piece of equipment and equipment will spaced further apart for safe use.

         * Open dance floor & live music. (Guest will wear masks)

         * pool with reasonable capacity allowed.

         * spa - Sauna - hot tubs - will have posted limited number of people allowed and guests assume liability.

         * shore excursions will be provided.

         * Buffet with staff providing food service. No more mass sharing of serving handles.

         * Staff will wear masks when in direct contact with guests.

         * Guests will wear masks when walking to any public destination in order to pass safely.

         * 100% enforcement of not refilling water bottles in water dispensers.

         * provided plastic straws

         * Theater will require 1 open seat between family members (family can sit side by side, strangers must leave one open seat)

         * Walking

Well, here is my list off the top of my mind....

    Your turn!

However... I am still waiting for my refund.  Paid in Full in November 2019.  Cruise cancelled March 2020... Celebrity is still holding my money hostage!

  12. We left ours in teh safe after a few days they changed the sensors and told us they where not working . Then I thought  what would happen if I let it in the bathroom as there was a sensor in their.  We got back on the ship and found the medallion on the bed with a phone message to call down . They asked us please do not to leave them in the bath room any more.

Good thing it was only the sensors.

One of the posters here insists the ship will initiate an emergency search for you

if they lose contact with your medallion.

If he were right,  the ship would be searching endlessly, and never make it to the next port..

We left ours in the bath room once and they came to the cabin to see what was wrong .Asked us not to do  that anymore
