  1. Why do they take temperatures?

Holland said they do not want people that have high temps getting off ship . Maybe they should do that when you board for cruise .

  2. Oh dear just checked and we can only buy set amounts of minutes on the Sapphire Princess. Husband will need pretty much constant internet access for work emails/calls - going to cost an absolute fortune!

Why bother go on vacation When you are off the ship then what happens. I check my business email everyday download about 200 takes less than 5 minutes. Get off then read them respond to what I have to then get back on line and send them all that takes a minute or two

  3. They didn’t take our temperature. Did take a pic when we got our passports stamped.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

They took your temperature when they took picture thermal scan

  4. What are the non-alcoholic options at the show? As a recovering alcoholic I no longer drink. Unless I could bring the unopened bottle of rum back as a gift for someone else. Since I'm traveling on a cruise ship, however, it might mean a visit to the naughty room.....

They have cans of soda for sure. You could always smoke a cigar. On the bottle they give it to 4 people to split with ice and soda. Yes the ship will take it

  5. Hi Sevanb,

Are you saying that once the affidavits have been completed (we have to do this prior to our cruise), that we can just walk off the ship without a ship tour or previously hired guide?

If we are going out independently, do we need to hire a licensed tour guide in advance to work up an itinerary to prove that we are doing the appropriate types of visits?

If we just walk off the ship, and don't have a previously hired guide (online), will there be guides and/or taxis available at the port? Thanks so much.

    JT

Yes that is right People walked off ship and just got a cab or classic car and went off on there own . I am not saying that going with a stranger is for you or any one else but on the board there are a few that people have used so if you are worried about using unknown I would suggest using one that someone has used , There is a huge souvenir building somewhat near the ship if that is what you are looking for also . Anything else just post

  6. Your review convinced me to book with Blexie - I'm glad to read such a positive review. How far is it from the terminal to the pickup point? We can walk but not too far which is one of the reasons I like being able to customize the tour.

What was your your favorite part of the tour and what would you consider an appropriate tip? And lastly, is there a separate guide or is the driver and guide one in the same?

    Thank you

Pickup is across the street from terminal , He will do anything you want drive a lot or little . We had Blexie and a driver . On the tip we where with him and the driver for 12 hours so our excursion was more than normal.

  7. We were very sad to see An Evening at Le Cirque go away ... but found Rudi's Sel de Mer (pop-up on ms Eurodam) to be a very acceptable replacement. My Escargots Bourguignonne and salt crust baked Branzino were as good as I have ever had. Service was excellent, ambience was authentic, and price (even before applying our Mariner discount) was very reasonable. We give RSdM a 4-Star rating based on our first experience. We are looking forward to another meal at RSdM on our next cruise.(y)(y)(y)

This is why food is so subjective The only complaint my husband had was his fish was too salty. He had ordered the fish that's cooked in a salt crust, but didn't expect it to make the fish so salty. Another person above salt crust baked Branzino were as good as I have ever had.

  8. Sure you can pay when you get there BUT what if it sells out are you going to take that chance ot ? You would be not happy I am sure like the people we where with in Kuala Lumpur that did not buy tickets in advance and when they got to the Petronas towers it was sold out Even if you buy your own ticket you get "welcome" drink of champagne, and then a bottle of Cuban rum, one bottle for every four people (!!!), a bucket of ice, and a can of cola not just the cruise lines. Its the same thing as you HAVE to do a tour with the cruise lines to be able to satisfy the requirement to get off ship bad information.

  9. yes, i realize the articles were written in 2011, but the information is still pertinent. the list of cigars is still valid and one you should look at to decide what is what especially if you do not really know cigars and their ratings, etc. however, smoking a cigar is an individual taste thing and what one "aficionado" calls a 98, i might say is 88. lol. they have moved the main factory now and as i said, we will check in when we get back. we leave wednesday. hoping to find lots of info for you all.

Have a great time we did. As you said what you like is not what others like just like food very subjective. Guy in front of me buying cigars when the told him they where 15.00 a stick he said that was outrageous and walked out. Watch the ladies that smoke in the streets that appear to me at least a 70 ring gauge and super dark maduro . Let me know how it went for you

  10. All that is too much like work a few years back bought a AAXA LED Pico Micro Video Projector for under 90.00 and no need for anything else compact and light all you need is a thumb drive puts out a 60 inch picture if you want usb chargeable We have taken out on deck and had a crowd watching . Smaller and lighter that a dvd player

  11. There isn't a lot consistency to what they do. In our case there was no taking of temperature and they didn't stamp the passport, we had to ask them to do so.

If they took your picture they got you temp in Havana at least

  12. Havana x-ray my wife's small back pack we did have some small gifts for our guide and driver nothing said and they do take your picture and your temperature going thru customs and then thru a metal detector. Then after that have your money exchanged that is open till 8 pm

    Just there last Monday 21

  13. its a wonder princess haven't included the gratuities in the fare like the aussie & kiwis and then no one can take them off

You are correct is used to be that way on Holland then they stopped it to make fares look lower . When we travel on land in Europe the tip is on the bill

  14. Looks like the 2 articles were written the end of 2011.

Please post what you found on your trip. Or anything else you discover about touring cigar factories and/or buying cigars.

We're going first of September and that's what my husband wants to do.

Buying Cigars what ever you want . I bought 40 cigars touring was a different story have to buy ticket
