If you want to study while on your cruise I don't see the harm but you're on vacation so take some time to relax and enjoy spending time with your dad! happy sailing. :)

My sister and I did Captain Marvin's on our October 2015 cruise on the Carnival Magic, had a great time posed for pictures and got back to the boat in plenty of time. The guides were all really friendly and the captain of the boat we were on was very professional and knowledgeable, they even gave us some complementary punch while we snorkeled. We booked through Expedia.

Best thing I ate was a Rueben from the deli worst was their "salsa".
I eat eggs for breakfast and usually with salsa so that was disappointing.

We reserved the chef's table and got a response in about 48hrs I think it's the same person who reserves the steakhouse. YMMV

As a current gamer and an even bigger gamer when I was younger I have to say I agree with the overall sentiment shared by other posters, at some point he will eventually find real life more interesting than gaming and it will fall to the wayside. I like my consoles and PC games but I play them when I'm not working or taking care of other business around the house, I also make time to see my friends and family outside of the virtual realm. I think a cruise is a good way for him to meet people his own age who might be in his position i.e. stuck on a vacation with parents...who knows he might make some friends and leave the video games for the week to hang out with them. Good luck to you and your family hopefully you will have a fun time and he will too! :)

Drove with my family from Austin, Tx to Orlando, Fl for a Disney world vacation as a kid. Six kids and two adults in a van for 18hrs...never again. Longest I'll drive is to NOLA since it's just shy of 9 hours.

On the magic I had scrambled eggs with salsa, bacon, eggs benedict, sausage and a pastry. Lots and lots of fresh coffee and juice, and maybe some fruit and cheese...seven days of that and I was definitely stretching my waistband to the max :p
