I don't think I ever saw them opened on my trip.  I know I have seenthem open on the Mardi Gras but it was rare.

Oh bummer. I was hoping to get a view of the sea from there. On other ships the atrium is a meet up spot. Always wished there was a large view of the sea while waiting.

  2. It's a good thing you don't drink a lot. Free drinks in the casino are wonderful if they have enough hosts working the floor. Otherwise, it can take a while to get a drink. My sister said she didn't have that problem but then I think she spent most of her free time in the casino. : )

I understand the chef being irritated at a change but is it really the menu he picked especially for the evening when the same menu is being served on almost all the ships by different chefs? 😂 My guess is that corporate decides the menu, with possible variations between ships, and all the chefs go with it. I could be wrong of course…

If we book it I will do so onboard and ask if a substitution for that one protein will be an issue. If it is then we won’t do it. Thanks for your response!

It may be different now. I remember the chef coming out explaining each dish and looking very proud. Guess it would change things if every menu is the same on every ship. Oh well. Wonder if it's still worth the 75 dollar price tag.

Probably a crazy question but does anyone know if they will substitute a protein?  All the menus I have seen so far have lamb and both my husband and I abhor lamb, I just cannot stomach it.  I fully realize many, many people love it but I to me it is blech....

One of our chef table mates did this. Asked for chicken instead. But just to warn you I think the chef was just a bit irritated. After all this is his menu picked especially for the evening.

  5. Guess I won't worry about it too much then. Just this is my first cruise ( March 5 ) since they started back up and sure as heck don't want a small technicality to stop me from boarding. I have a QR code too so fingers crossed it will be smooth sailing. 😀

Going on a Alaskan cruise Augs 22nd and want to do a name change. Anyone know how that works?

I did a name change by calling Carnival. They did not charge me anything. Probably because of this covid thing 🙂

This point has been brought up and discussed to death.

I am vaccinated - I am not concerned about unvaccinated people near me.

The concern is that if enough unvaxxed pax get on a cruise and a minor outbreak occurs, it will be a media circus and death knell for the cruise industry.

The other major detractor is that if masks are required and social distancing hugely enforced on cruises because of an unknown number of unvaxxed pax, such that everyone has to wear a mask, and everyone has to stay 6 ft apart in the shows, and no service at the bar, etc, then the whole experience will be miserable for everyone.  Right now, if all pax are fully vaxxed the social distancing stuff get hugely relaxed.  Hey, that rhymes!

Hahaha that does rhyme. See if you can get Carnival to work it into the Seuss parade.

    Per the CDC:

” COVID-19 vaccines teach our immune system‘s how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19. Sometimes this process can cause symptoms, such as fever. The symptoms are normal and I signs at the body is building protection against the virus that causes COVID-19.

it typically takes a few weeks for the body to build immunity (protection against the virus that causes COVID-19) after vaccination.”

if someone has had the virus their body develops natural immunity against the virus.  Therefore, if someone has had COVID-19 and decides not to get the vaccine what is the big deal?

Yes why isn't there an option to have an antibody test to determine if you even need the vaccine. Putting powder on your tush 40 years ago may be the cause of your cancer today. Not ready to put a vaccine in my body that has gone through minimal testing. I caught covid before vaccine was available. I recovered and have been tested for antibodies which I still have. So until the CDC can prove without a doubt that thats not good enough...

  9. Does anyone else think it is absurd that a woman that is past menopause is still required to complete the pregnancy questionnaire?

Can someone please explain the rationale behind this?

Probably for the same reason they have to put DO NOT USE HAIRDRYER WHILE BATHING cautions on blow dryers. Its always that one person who will say you didn't warn me to start a lawsuit of some type.

  10. We sailed on Valor last summer. It was a good size for a first cruise, not our first. Loved the upgrades, Alchemy Bar was my favorite spot. It was a summer and packed cruise. Hard to get into a comedy show. Casino is open so if you don't smoke, beware. There was a great oldies band but right by the Casino - not a favorite place for us as we like to breath fresh air. Also on our trip the piano player was hurt, so there wasn't any piano bar music after the first night or 2. Wasn't my favorite decor. And our room steward was not to be found. My sister was on the same cruise, different deck, and she had a great room steward. Food was ok, but we had a bad experience in the specialty dining steak restaurant. But it was our first time to on a Southern cruise, 3 new ports for us. That was really good. Also entertainment, although sparsely attended, the shows were very good. But any cruise is a good cruise. Most of the staff was great. Do the sea day brunch, really nice. Watch the daily Compass for specials. And have a great time!

Looking forward to spending some time at the Alchemy Bar.
