Thank you so much. I guess I must have missed this along the way.

  2. Thank you so much for returning back, Quiltincruiser, to update us on the outcome. Seems like you slipped between the cracks and that should not have happened.

Your information and experience was very valuable to many of us who are facing a B2B. Hopefully you got the "pot holes" fixed for the rest of us driving down the same road.

    Have a wonderful cruise :D

Thank you. I hope my adventure helps some in the future!

  3. Disagree

A vacation should be relaxing and non-stressful, but when employees make the situation confusing with conflicting information --it is no wonder the anxiety hits.

    Sorry for your situation.

Hope your vacation was awesome and you are able to forget the disorganization.

    Safe travels.

Thank you! New day, new cruise, restored attitude...all is good!

  4. Thank you for posting. We will be on our first b2b in December and I appreciate the information you provided. I hope you have all blips behind you. Have a great time. :)

All is wonderful. Thank you! I hope you have taken the suggestions about checking with Guest Services and also letting your cabin steward know, so you have a very positive experience.

  5. i know there is the usual Rum & Coke, Gin & Tonic mixed drinks. Looking for some suggestions for a little more fru fru type drink. I know we can’t get the frozen drinks. What fancy, fun drinks do you order in the Diamond Lounge?

I have started going with Vodka Cranberry. A little more festive looking. Plus, I might be hurting the liver but the kidneys are getting attention 🤦🏼*♀️. Last night a lady sitting with me ordered a Rum-cranberry-Sprite! That’s about the best I can offer you!

  6. Ok, here is the follow up. But before I go there:

    1) We were on the consecutive cruisers list, not the first B2B, but the first with cabin change.

    2) We told our Cabin Steward on day 1 that we were B2B and changing cabins.

    3) I had marked Consecutive Cruiser on the Set Sail Pass.

    4) Crown and Anchor was aware of our B2B situation.

I think I had done all that I could to let everyone know that we were B2B and honestly don’t feel a passenger should have to do that. It is all computerized from booking (which was done on-board a previous cruise - so no TA to place blame on) this was all RCCL, all the way.

There was no immigration form in cabin, which was unusual and perhaps a new procedure. The ships customs and immigration was done in MDR. Not sure if this is because there were 3 ships in port or if this is also a new procedure, but it was wonderful. After going through C&I we waited in Cafe Latte-tudes for our new cruise card. Once we received that we disembarked.

Outside the port, there were few employees to direct people to taxis and buses...But there were 3 ships in so it was understandable. We did not have an excursion, but we were told we couldn’t get into the new cabin until 1:00 as that was the time the cabins would be available.

We retrieved some items that were needed and had lunch and then back to the ship.

Returned to the ship and had to figure out if we were to stand in line or, as consecutive cruisers, if there was a different procedure. Honestly, it didn’t appear as if the port side (RCCL) staff knew what the consecutive cruiser procedure was. So One shrugged her shoulders and took us past some barriers and pointed to the crew entry. We had no problem after that.

Got to our cabin and all luggage was there and all closet contents were hanging in the closet. Our new room steward has been very attentive and looking forward to another 12 days of sailing.

We understand that there are blips and problems along the way. It just seemed that we hit all of the blips and problems that could happen. It is behind us and hopefully will be the last major blip we have on this trip.

I guess we have cruised without major setbacks so often on RCCL that it just seemed overwhelming. Especially since we were doing nothing unusual. Consecutive Cruisers are on every cruise and it seemed as though there was no set or known procedure in how to handle this.

Perhaps RCCL could have an CC Ambassador for just such situations.

  7. Many posters on this forum have reported how organized and easy it was making the back-to-back transition with RCI. It does seem your room steward may not have been aware you were staying aboard.

As Bob mentioned, it's always important to confirm you are on the consecutive cruisers list and they will provide your with the day/time/location of the b2b transition meeting. Lastly, it's important your room steward know so they can get your clothing moved into closets on turnover day.

It sounds like you had a horrible experience and clearly RCI should have done lots more to include you in meeting specifics. I hope if you have another b2b on RCI the transition goes much, much smoother.

If we do another RCCL cruise and do a back to back we will make sure we do not move cabins!

Would agree with this which is why we told our room steward on day 1 that we were continuing on and changing cabins. By his response it appeared that he understood that.

  9. Oh, is there a Rita's Cantina on Serenade? I saw that mentioned in a review but not in the listed restaurants for the ship.

On the Serenade currently and yes there is a Rita’s Cantina. I know Serenade is going I to dry dock for 2 weeks beginning November 1st, so not sure if any changes will be made or if just sprucing things up.

  10. I am currently on Serenade of the Seas, completing a 5 night Canada/New England cruise. Will be continuing on from Boston tomorrow for a 12 night repositioning.

We have to change cabins on this back to back. Last night received disembarkation tags. Went to Guest Services this morning to remind them that we are not ending our cruise tomorrow. Was told, we should have mentioned this at this mornings meeting. “What meeting”I asked. Apparently we were supposed to receive an invitation to the special meeting that explains the procedures. Obviously we did not receive it, ok not so much a problem. I asked what we were supposed to do and get the info.

Go to the Diamond lounge and meet up with another consecutive cruiser - we get to talking and she tells me what she was told at the meeting. Completely different from what guest services told me.

Go back to guest services and speak with some officer who says, “yes! We had 2 cabins not show up for the meeting”. Did anyone think to call the 2 cabins to see if they had the necessary info- no. He tells me yet a different story of what is to happen, but says that there will be a letter in my cabin this evening. I figure that is the letter that was given out at the meeting.

Come back from dinner and no letter - I get the don’t forget to set the clock back 1 hour and don’t forget to empty your safe information. Nothing else.

I am PISSED at this point, and I go to guest services to get a copy of the letter. I try to calm down but there is a gentleman playing steel drums (why? We are heading into Boston, not Jamaica) who has no singing talent and is quite painful to listen to. Anyway, get to the desk, took a couple of deep breaths and tell the young lady what my problem is and that I would like a copy of the letter I was to receive.

She leaves and comes back and tells me “you have an appointment at Cafe Lattitudes at 10:00 in the morning, but you have to go through immigration before that. And if you are leaving the ship (which we have to) you have to leave by 10:00”. I asked her how I was supposed to be at a meeting onboard at the time I had to be off ship. “Yeah, that didn’t sound right to Me”, she says. She steps away and comes back with “if you are getting off the ship you don’t need to go to the meeting”. So what is this meeting about? Anyway I thanked her and went back to the cabin, where I went through this with my husband.

We then try to call our cabin steward, to get a copy of “the letter”. Was told that the steward would be back up at 6:30 in the morning. Hello! So I call the operator as I am now looking for the Hotel Director. Phone is on continual ring.

At this point husband takes over as I am about to do something that would probably end in my arrest! He called Guest Services and asked for the manager, was told there is not one on duty. WHAT! No manager in guest services on the last night of a cruise when everyone is confused about procedure and asking questions about billing.

Anyways, 2 phone calls and 2 visits from various people and we are finally told yet another scenario for the morning. I’m done! Thank you very much, we will do something tomorrow and hope our luggage gets moved 7 doors down in the morning.

I now have to make a decision as to whether I will cancel the 3 cruises I have planned with RCCL for 2018. If asked right now, I would cancel and book with Princess or Oceania. The level of incompetence in customer service is absolutely mind-boggling! I can’t blame the individual’s in Guest Services as they are apparently left with no management in the evening! Would love to see their procedure manuals and then have upper management actually work Guest Services! Thanks for listening to my rant!

  11. Not really sure if they let you come in late. On the tour we booked, a couple was a few minutes late and the tour guide gave their tickets to another couple. Then before we left the original couple showed up and the 2nd couple graciously gave them their original tickets. I wouldn't chance it. I can tell you - we got into Barcelona at 10:30, checked our luggage at our hotel and made it to La Segrada Familia for our 12:00 tour.

  12. Why is it inefficient? You have your paper boarding pass in your hand when you get on the ship. You can start enjoying everything as they are still readying the ship for your departure. It certainly made embarking the ship much faster - from hotel in Barcelona, cab ride to port, checking in at port, security and to ships bar - 34 minutes total. Didn't have to wait for the bumbling that always happens in the "key roundup" port side. It was awesome!!
