  1. It looks like that function is only available if you booked your cruise in a certain way.
  2. We are sailing from Tilbury in May - how do we book parking? There doesn't seem to be a link neither on the Ambassador website nor on the port website?
  3. Thanks for the hint. We are already sailing tomorrow so I suspect it’s a bit late to prepay them as I’m already sitting on the poolside in Barbados and I am not planning to spend the afternoon on the phone at 2gbp per minute 😀 I also note the point that you have the option to remove some all all of the gratuities if you are not happy. I guess the issue with this is that according to RC the gratuities go to a bunch of different staff, some of whom you might never meet - as such it would seem a bit odd to take the tips away from all the staff just because I had bad service from one or two. Of course this doesn’t address the underlying issue that really, companies should pay their staff adequately and tips should be an optional extra for exceptional service, otherwise it’s just a hidden part of the price of he service you are buying.
  4. I would hope that it's due to the perceived danger of fire caused by devices plugged in to the extension cable. Otherwise I would question whether you should even be getting on the ship in the first place if their electrical system becomes unsafe when passengers plugs in an extension lead. What's also not clear is whether they make any distinction between an device with a very short lead that's clearly just to add additional capacity, versus someone who has brought a 100 foot cable that they normally use to cut their lawn.
  5. Is this something that is unique to RC? I have taken extension leads on many other cruises before with no issue. I took one on an RC ship about 6 years ago. Edit: To clarify, I am not talking about a long lead that goes across the whole cabin - it is just effectively a very short lead that turns a socket into 4 sockets.
  6. Do they sell any of this stuff on the ship or at ports? I am leaving already tomorrow morning from the UK and it's a bit late to re-jig things. I already have an adapter and a plug with 4 USB ports so we will manage but it's not ideal as we will also have a laptop. Also just to check - there are 2 US plugs and one Euro plug in each room?
  7. By extension chord does this include even an adapter with a very short chord say 1 foot long? Also by "ban", does this mean they are searching your luggage and confiscating them on boarding? Or they just take them if they find them in your cabin? If so why - I've not experienced this on any other cruise line?
  8. Hi - our cruise agent told us that we can prepay the gratuities if we want before the cruise on the Royal app. However I can't find that option? Also is there any reason to do this - e.g. do you get a discount for paying before the cruise? Otherwise I don't see much point in prepay.
  9. OK but I guess there is nothing to stop you from ordering the lobster but then asking for an additional main from the list which is always free?
  10. No problem I think she'll be fine - she tends to go by the #pax as the guide and we've been on smaller ones before. Can you clarify on the lobster comment? I remember last time we were on RC, there was a lobster night in the MDR where lobster was free, and (madly) you could order as many extra ones as you wanted. I guess you are saying that you only get one for free and you have to pay if you want more now?
  11. Lol - best not tell my wife it's a "small ship" when we are going transatlantic 😉
  12. Hi - we are UK based and on back to back Rhapsody cruises from 23rd April to 16th May 🙂 It's been almost 10 years since we went on an RC ship (only been on Serenade once before) and I had a few of questions: - If we have pre-purchased the deluxe drink package, do we need to do anything to register it when we get on the ship like on some cruise lines or will it already be automatically on our cruise cards? - Does the deluxe drink package include all drinks on board or if not what is the price limit? - I have seen some posts on the internet stating that Rhapsody has Starlink internet but the RC app still says Voom? Does it indeed have Starlink and if so is it noticeably better than the old systems? - Can you buy short term internet while on board e.g. for 24 hours? I would like to get internet access but I don't need it for the entire period? - How is the availability on on board dining generally other than the MDR? I've found on some other cruise lines that some of the restaurants are already fully booked before you even get on. Is this also the case with RC? - If we have bid on Royal up when do we find out whether we were successful of not, and also around what time would we need to change rooms if we for example get Royal up on one but not the other? - Do we have to get off the ship in Miami even if we are continuing to the next cruise? - Generally do you have recommendations for the specialty restaurants - is there one that is a "must not miss" experience?
  13. Thanks - we are from the UK so we will bring a Euro to UK adapter and then an extension lead with some additional UK sockets.
  14. Hi - what type of power outlets (and how many) can I expect on Rhapsody? (oceanview cabin)
  15. Hi - I just got back from a cruise on Iona and the total amount on the cruise statements is about ÂŁ8 less than what they have put pending on my credit card. On the credit card there are various transactions none of which correspond to the amounts on the cruise statements, but if I add everything up there is a discrepancy of about ÂŁ8 in P&O's favour. Is this likely to rectify automatically or should I contact them about this? (We did not spend any money on the last morning on board).
  16. Hi - what is the easiest way to check which cruises are available from UK mainland ports across all cruise lines? I guess most of them are from Southampton but is there a thread or a site that I can see all UK mainland departing cruises by date or suchlike?
  17. actually we went to reception and they sorted but they had to issue new cards for all of us.
  18. Hi we are on Iona and we have booked 3 cabins between us but to optimise the cruise credits we booked our children into our balcony cabin and we booked 2 other cabins for myself and my wife Obviously this might create some logistical issues for drinks packages and trips and such. if we go to reception are they able to swap things around to put our cards to unlock the “correct” cabin that we are going to sleep in does anyone know?
  19. Hi - what power sockets can we expect in our cabins on Iona?
  20. Yeah this is all fine we have the app and so on - I was only confused because what our cruise booking agent told us was not quite the same in detail as what is on the web site, and even on the website it’s a bit confusing because the final paragraph implies that everyone must have a booster “where applicable” but I think that comment applies to the Jansen single dose vaccine.
  21. Oh I will make sure she gets a booster even before we leave but it won’t be within the 7 days, but she should still pass under the 270 day rule - if I had known she had not done it I would have driven her to get it last week! She also has a record of +ve Covid test in March this year so she will have got some immunity from that as well but I don’t think that counts for anything by P&O. When you say “show your vaccine record at embarkation” what does that mean - you have to show that you submitted a negative test result to NHS?
  22. Reason is she just didn’t bother - we reminded her to get a booster but she forgot or whatever, and now it is too late as I don’t think we will be able to get her a booster 7 days before departure as we are already on another trip and we don’t get back will less than 7 days before sailing date. My concern is that if I call P&O and we can’t sail, there are 4 of us going on 3 separate bookings, so we then have no valid reason to cancel the other 2 bookings so we will then lose the money / credits. However, when I read the P&O terms it seems pretty clear to me that they cannot refuse boarding if her return date will be less than 270 days since second dose.
  23. Hi, Can someone help me clear up a query for the Covid rules for boarding. We have one person in our party for an upcoming cruise who has recently turned 18 - she has had 2 Pfizer vaccines but has not had a booster vaccine, but, at the last date of the cruise, the second vaccine would have been less than 270 days prior. (Her second does of Prizer was on 24th November last year and last date of cruise is before mid August). The way I read the rules on the P&O website, this is ok. However my wife is saying that our cruise agent told her that everyone has to have had the booster regardless. From my view, this is not what it says on the web site. Can anyone confirm or deny my reading of the rules?
