  1. Mobile Passport has nothing to do with Global Entry. Vastly different things.

MP is a phone app that basically amounts to filling out your declaration form online. If you've got a US passport, you can download it.

Global Entry is a fairly selective US CBP vetting process (costing at least $100 for the application and requiring a face-to-face interview at a CBP post like SFO) that can take more than a year and is not an automatic OK. Where it is available, you do get on the usually shorter line. Remember too that GE is only for returning to the US. You'll need "Precheck" to get on the shorter outbound security lines at US airports.

  2. If you have health issues or not, this is topic you should discuss with your primary care medical specialist.

Absolutely correct. I work for a family physician and this is our recommendation. I also suggest going to the travel clinic, not sure if this is something you have in your area but where we live they're brilliant. They know the exact outbreaks in any given area.

  3. I am booked for stateroom 11229 on Harmony next year and was wondering where the bed is located for that stateroom - next to the door, or next to the balcony? TIA

We were in 11217 for a Med cruise, it's on one side of the living wall, the cabin you're looking at is at the other side, our bed was beside the balcony. If I may make a suggestion, we were on Harmony for 20 nights, 7 nt Med then the TA. We moved across the hall to 11218 for the TA portion, while I absolutely love Central Park, one of our favourite places on the ship, I was happy to move to an ocean balcony. So much more privacy, you can't see anything but the Park and your neighbor across the way in his skivvies! Our friends had a park cabin for the entire three weeks and really wished they had the ocean instead. It's just a suggestion, you'll love it either way. She's my favourite ship thus far.

  4. Please do me a personal favour (with a "u" :D ) and get thee to Rogers Chocolates on Government Street. The Victoria Creams are to die for and it is something that you shouldn't pass up if you even remotely like chocolate. When we were there on a cruise stop two years ago in May, they were open past 9 pm, so I know they will be open for you in June.

Skip Rogers and go to Bernard Callebaut, much better chocolate. I'm just not a fan of the Victorian creams, we have a Rogers location across from work and shudder when the creams show up! But still worth a try if you haven't.

  5. Just get off the ship and walk into town, it's absolutely gorgeous. We have lots of old buildings, an interesting China Town, many many very good restaurants. No end of things to see. We also have a street full of tacky tourist shops and they'll be open. The horse carriages will be out as well. Please come and enjoy our city, we are very proud of it.

  6. It really isn't all that off the beaten path, but my mom (my travel companion) loves tea. I found the White Heather Tea Room in the Oak Bay area which looks like a very cute spot, so I'd like to take her there. We aren't very adventurous (she always worries about missing the ship!), so I want to make sure we could get there and back successfully.

If she likes tea then I'd recommend the afternoon tea at the Empress, it's very expensive but oh so good.
