I am booking with Royal on the Oasis of the Seas. Expedia has an offer right now that if you book with a Mastercard, you get $100 OBC. Problem is, I don't have a MasterCard. My friend is willing to let me use his but I'm not sure If I can do that, would I need to have his card with me when I cruises or do they only need to see my card for onboard expenses?

The NCL free at sea promotion offers a drink package, gratuities or specialty restaurants. These are not free. You'll have to pay the gratuities on the drink package which is about $100 per person for a 7 day cruise.
I wasn't aware of that, thanks for letting me know. Still sounds like a good price though, $200 for 2 people to drink on a 7 day cruise. And with the $200 added, it still comes to less than the RCL cruise would cost, so not bad IMO.

We have done the Oasis and the Getaway. I enjoyed both ships, but I would personally choose Oasis over Getaway. We spend a lot of our time at the pool and Getaway's pool area is small and cramped. Oasis has several pools so it felt much less crowded and just had a better layout. Getaway had a lot of great dining options, though. I guess you would just have to decide what is most important to you. Either way, you will have a great time!!
Thank you for the reply. Norwegian is also offering 3 meals at Specialty restaurants as well so it's good to hear about their dining options.

We have been on both the Allure and the Getaway. They both are very nice ships. We prefer the MDR on Allure, but we prefer the specialty restaurants on the Getaway. The drink package for around $100pp definitely tips the scales to NCL if all else is the same. Which ever one you choose, you will have a wonderful vacation!!
Thank you for the reply. The drink package included is what I think will be the deciding factor. This will be our Honeymoon and I'm sure we will like drinks. Besides, this will be our 6th cruise and nowhere near the last. We will definitely be trying Oasis and Allure in the near future as well.

I was wondering if anybody has done both cruise lines on these ships. My fiance' and I have done other cruises with both cruise lines and enjoyed them both the same. I was just looking for input on these cruises in particular. I do know that on the Getaway, they offer free drinking packing which is definitely a plus. But I'm wondering more about shows and how the food is.

Has anybody been on the Allure or Oasis and the Norwegian Getaway?
My fiance' and I are trying to figure out which we want to do our honeymoon on. We have been on Royal cruises and Norwegian cruises and loved them both the same.
If you have been on both the Oasis/Allure and Norwegian Getaway, which did you like better?

My fiance' and I are looking to do our honeymoon at the end of March, on one of these ships. Besides itinerary and ports, is there any difference in the ships their selves? Such as what they have on board?

I assume the Open Bar include on the SKY does not include the day at GSC and you purchase Drinks.
Can Someone Confirm?
Sailing Jan 6th!
I just got off the sky. The drinks on GSC are included.

My fiance' and I leave on the Sky next Friday for a 3 night cruise. I was wondering what type of shows they have for the headliners?
-
I haven't done the Sky since it changed to all inclusive. My understanding from reading in here is that the customer just orders a drink. The bartender rings it's up but only for inventory. Everyone on your ship has open bar, unlike the other ones that have the UBP which is purchased or promo'd.

Oh, that makes more sense then. It's true that the "open bar" is included with the ticket price so everyone would be getting drinks for free.
-
The Sky and the other ships are completely different. The Sky is all inclusive. They won't ring up anything.

I had no idea. I've never been on a ship like this. Do you even have to give them your card when you get drinks?
-
Every single drink will appear on your bill for a short period of time before being zeroed out. (At least that's how it has been on all 4 of our UBP cruises.) Don't worry if you see charges unless they are still there on the last day.
Oh ok, that's good to know.

We were staying in the Haven, so the concierge took care of the bogus charges. Even still, it was a bit of a hassle because he had to call the bar manager for each venue that charged us. My sister was charged twice for virgin pina coladas. Each time they were billed as a smoothies, which aren't covered under the UBP. Guest services will remove any bogus charges. The hassle is having to go there in the first place [emoji849]

Understood, that does sound like a bit of a hassle.
-
as long as the drink is under $15 - otherwise you pay the difference + 18% grat
Awesome, thank you.
-
Be sure to double check your final statement. I was on the GA in October and my sister and I had the UBP. There were several charges for drinks that we had to have removed.

Thank you. The thought had already crossed my mind that they may "mistakenly" charge people so I planned on this. Was it a hassle to get them to remove the charges or just as simple as going by guest services?
-
My fiance' and I booked a cruise on Norwegian Sky for December 16th. The UBP is included and I know it only includes certain brands of alcohol. I'm just wondering if you can get frozen drinks with it.
-
I have seen a few people post pictures of the bar menu having limited drink choices for the all-inclusive beverages? Things such as Patron and other drinks were not included. However, the pictures were from a few months ago, is that still the case?
-
Already included.

Thank you.

My fiance' and I are going on the Norwegian Sky next month. With the booking, it includes the Ultimate Beverage Package. My question is, are tips included in the price for the cruise since the drinks are included? Or do we have to pay the 18% tip for each drink?
-
Oh, I've never been on that one. But ever ship I have been on with Royal, I have loved.
-
I love celebrity & NCL
though different in many ways
One week away from my first royal Caribbean

What ship are you going on?
-
Sky is a different experience than some of the other NCL ships.
NCL is very diverse as far as ships, staterooms, experiences, etc.
Is it as good different or bad different?
-
Yeah me too, I only have the package if it's included. You'd have to drink a LOT to make back the money if you buy it outright.
Here's the post with lots of photos of drinks: http://cruisingisntjustforoldpeople.co.uk/2016/09/10/ncls-unlimited-beverage-package/

I have been on both RCCL and NCL. I like both. But NCL is a more relaxed atmosphere. I hope you have an amazing time!

I'm 23 and my fiance' is 22. We've never minded the atmosphere on Royal so it will probably be a change of pace for us. We have loved Royal but figured we would give NCL a chance since they were offering the free drink package.
Can you book a cruise using someone else's Credit Card?

Thank you. I didn't think it would be a problem.
