Good summary, thanks sanger727.
Having one non drinker out of two does kill the numbers.
One thing to remember if you have kids with you and booked two staterooms - you can nominally put one adult in each room and therefore get Cheers for a single adult. You can then re-accomodate yourselves with kids in one room and adults in the other - the stewards don't care and will happily arrange the bedding to suit you.
-
Um, then why even mention the 10-14 range then? It's not relevant.
-
-
Tough age that. Not a kid anymore, but not quite an adult either. Yet some 18yo's are way more grown up in all regards than some 30yo's I've known.
When my son is 18 in a couple of years he'll still be a bit socially awkward. My 12yo daughter is already more socially able than me!

Prices are dropping though... Return flights from Auckland to NYC in cattle class are around NZ$2500 or US$1900 at the moment. But when they are on sale they can be significantly cheaper.
Just checked and there's a NZ$500 off sale right now! So NZ$2000 return...

Now this is the point at which I wonder... if you are a good tipper and friendly with the barman, will he just add a shot to the mix for you? Or do their auditing and stock counting systems pick up on that?
-
Yep, but turtletoursmazatlan says peak turtle release season extends to April. Someone is not right!
-
Hi All,
Our Apr cruise will be in Mazatlan 8am-5pm on the 18th and PV 8am-8pm on the 19th. What are the best options and recommendations to see turtles (either snorkelling or on the beach)?
Cheers

If you don't know what to order to get a killer deal out of your Cheers and want to broaden your horizons, then once you have tipped and are besties with your barkeep just ask him for some recommendations on what's behind the bar that is 'special'.

Is that the Marina Beach El Cid or Moro Beach El Cid?
-
Ah, of course. Next time!

I guess I had a CSR not a PVP then! Who ever it was could access cabins that I could not through the web site.
II called up and ran through some options and then said I would call back next day after I had run them past the DW. I asked if I could call back this person directly and she said no, I could only get who the phone system allocated me to.
So... how do you get a PVP rather than a CSR?
-
I think PVP is a misnomer. I call Carnival to make bookings, and get someone with direct access into their system but in my brief experience it is not 'personal'. I don't get the ability to deal with the same person ongoing and next time I call or email I could get anyone.
Still, to me it is a better path than a TA or the website. The latter I only use as a reference point. The prices are accurate but the cabin availability is not.
-
Personal preference for me is to get the third port in. I am really looking forward to Mazatlan and wouldn't want to miss it. A bit more Mexico and a bit less tourist resort.
-
Agreed. I would have paid a little more for a better BB selection. All CCL are doing is incentivizing me to buy shakes for the kids during the day on my Cheers.
-
I ordered BB for the 3 kids but hadn't noticed it doesn't include shakes. Two of the kids don't like carbonated drinks but do like milk and juice and love shakes. The other likes lemonade.
It's a real disappointment that BB doesn't include shakes. Why? They don't cost any more than juice.
-
That's impressive.
Personally, I could easily get through the week having had only one drink but my wife - not a chance. She's travelling with me after all.
But if not drinking any booze I would be getting through gallons of water, juice, mocktails and smoothies.
What *did* you drink all week?
-
... because it was an impression formed from discussions prior to reading the website detail.
I thought it would be like Cheers less the grownup stuff - alcohol and coffee. But if it is really only soda and juice, then may as well forget about it and carry 12 packs of soda aboard.
-
Oh no! BB does not include shakes?
Looks like it's true - soda and juice only according to the Carnival website. Surely it includes bottled water???
-
I would always call CCL - there are many more cabins available than on their website - particularly if you want special features such as accessibility, connecting rooms etc.
-
Hi - maybe best to contact them directly - link is above. But the actual cave walk is only 220 yards so the walk back can't be too far either. They list 'no wheelchair access' and 'sensible flat walking shoes'.
-
Yep NCL - good deal if you are certain to be booking before too long...
-
Good tip! Sadly still no price drop for me - tried New Zealand, California (in state) and Delaware (tax dodger state) and it's all the same. They are only dropping the price on the GTY balconies.
-
One of the comments above was "15 drinks per day" - but that's the daily limit not the break-even. The break-even is somewhere around 5 drinks for me - three glasses of wine and a couple of cocktails.
Benefits to booking with a PVP instead of CCL website?

Having made my booking through a CSR can I just call them up and ask for a PVP and get my booking assigned to that PVP? Or is that booking now permanently attached to the CSR channel?
