  1. Hi all! Need some ship opinions. We are planning a senior HS spring break trip. My family has always sailed on Royal. Can I get some comparisons between Royal/MSC/Norwegian? Answer as if destination, ship size, and cabin costs are all about the same. Straight up - who is better? We will have kids with us from about 6 - 18 years old and adults that typically purchase the RCI alcohol packages.

    Thanks!

NCL for sure. I like them both, but Norwegian is more like being at a resort at sea with no schedules and time to do whatever!

  2. We cruise on the Crown in 10 days. I already got an email from Princess with the staggered embarkation schedule. They are saying with our cabin number, Riviera Deck, Balcony cabin, they would like to see us not board until 2:30 pm. But we are Platinum members and are to get priority embarkation. I don't know if they enforce the staggered boarding? Or just say that because everyone shows up too early and hopefully they will convince people to wait a bit?

    .

We're on the same cruise and in a balcony on the Riviera deck, so I called Princess and the representative said right now it is a recommendation and we wouldn't be forced to wait in the terminal until 2:30. I would imagine if they actually tried to enforce this they would have a lot of angry passengers. This is my 4th cruise with Princess and 19th overall and I have disliked every time that a line tried something like this. I wonder why they would even do this? In my experience, Princess has always been the fastest embarkation.

  3. No covered pool on Royal Princess.

The Crown/Emerald/Ruby class of Princess ships has been sailing Alaska for a good five years without covered pools. More important to have adequate open decks for the days of glacier viewing. And unless you are sailing very late in the season it is rare to have no days sunny and warm enough to use an outdoor pool.

Now a British Isles cruise with no covered pool--those make Alaska tropical by comparison. (And Princess is finally remedying that with Sapphire Princess out of Southampton in 2018)

No indoor pool. It is a wonderful ship in any case! enjoy!

  4. We booked a balcony guarantee on the Crown on January 20th and have received our assignment, with which we are pleased. It a BC category on the Riviera deck midship starboard. Considering we caught a sale and purchased the cabin for $229 pp a couple weeks ago we are ecstatic. This will be my 4th Princess cruise out of 19 and they seem to never disappoint!

  5. My future bride and I are cruising the Crown in January for our honeymoon and were wondering if anyone could point us to the current Princess main dining menus. What we've found online seem to be older. On a ships site the menu they have listed is from 2012. Thanks everyone in advance.

  6.

Thank you. We were concerned because when we applied for a passport the Dept of state asked for divorce documents because they couldn't determine her identity. I've known her since we were children and we are fifty something. Go figure; we let people in with literally no documentation and they give an American citizen a problem. I can't understand where the values are. Plus, it is very confusing.

  7. I have a question, my girlfriend and I are leaving February 12th on the Getaway and she doesn't have a passport. I've been on 17 cruises but have always traveled with a passport. This is her 1st cruise and i so want it to be perfect. She's been married twice. She has her birth certificate, current NC drivers license and both divorce decrees. She kept her first husband's name because of the kids. We need to know; what does she need to cruise? Thank everyone so much!
