I thought that too. I would think a medical doctor on a ship that spends days away from any port or city would have basic dental knowledge.

Oysters Rockefeller at Cagney's. Not sure how they could ruin oysters, but they did!

We were on a 14 day Caribbean cruise on the breakaway in January and I can attest that there was no dentist on board. I know this because one of the performers had a major dental abscess and went ashore to have it tended to. In the end, he ended up at dentists in two separate ports-just getting antibiotics each time. I wish I'd known, as a hygienist I could have offered advice.

Our cabin was ready at 12:15, with our luggage outside the door. We asked the steward if we could go in and he said yes! We were eating lunch by 12:30.

I am very sensitive to smoke. I was on the breakaway a few weeks ago and did not notice any smoke in O'Sheahans.

I thought breakaway balconies were tiny. Overall, I liked the RCCL ship better. It just seemed fancier somehow.

My parents trip was not booked with Canada at par.
I received all my "extras" when I paid $136 Canadian (for 2) to upgrade from an inside to an ocean view cabin. (I had already rec'd the UBP). So, I paid the $20 gratuity on 4 dinners and also got 10 free photos, 1000mb internet, unlimited phone calls home, and $50 in casino money.
Dad has called NCL and they will give him his latitude points but WONT combine them with his previous latitude points because he used a different TA this trip?!?! Still trying to sort that one out.
Basically, I paid about $400 less than my parents (who were in a midship balcony cabin) and got LOTS more perks.
As I tried to explain to them, if you fly from ottawa to London, England, not everyone on the plane pays the same amount. Depends on what's being offered when you do book.

I cannot agree about Dominica. [emoji17]. The falls were awesome and the island was pretty, but the champagne snorkelling was a huge let down. Compared to snorkelling we've done in other areas (especially Cuba & Mexico) Dominica was grey, murky, didn't have a lot of fish to see, and the champagne bubbles were much ado about nothing (imho). I know several people on the bus that day shared my opinion.

My parents booked their recent cruise (with travel package to, and hotel, in New York) with a TA. My sister and I booked many months later directly through NCL, and we got lots of perks my parents didn't get: UBP, Dining, photos, phone calls home, internet, casino chips etc. My parents also didn't get latitude rewards. My mom is furious-I'm sure I'll never hear the end of it! My dad has said that next time they'll get me to do the booking for them!

I paid for 2 players by swiping my card twice. We played with 3 people, just took turns throwing 2 balls each. We used the kiddie bumper bars because we were at sea and the boat was rockin'! Yes, that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!

I had the unlimited phone calls, and found $100 worth of calls on my bill. I went to guest services, and the charges were removed.
The quality was mostly good, but I noticed a 2 second "delay" when we were out at sea.
For me, it was great.

I did it! I'm terrified of heights and I even walked the plank. WORD OF ADVICE: ask which camera is working and make sure you know how hard to pull the rope to trigger the camera. I didn't get a photo because no one told me the "straight ahead" camera was broken. You also have to pull REALLY HARD on the rope and watch for the flash to ensure you get a photo. I was so disappointed to not get a photo.

Can we bring our own snacks on board in our checked bags? I can't seem to find the answer to this question anywhere.
Thanks, Pat

They told me the same thing, but when I pushed they wouldn't honour the price because "it wasn't for the same cabin type". After a bit of pushing, I finally got an upgrade from an inside to an ocean view and paid about half the listed price difference. Unfortunately, I've had several "quotes" (for cirque etc) that after conferring with my travel mates and calling back to book were not honoured. Excuses ranged from "forgot to tell you about service charges and/or gratuities" or " sorry, we meant US dollars, not Canadian".

My nephews (ages 13 & 15) don't like carbonated beverages. Can anyone tell me if they have things like lemonade or frutopia in the drinks package?

It was a few years ago, but as I recall it was about $60 per couple, DH remembers it as $80?? ( there were 3 couples on our tour) and Joyce was with us from 9:30-3:30. We gave her a big tip as well.

We toured with Joyce Prince and she was fabulous. We told her what we wanted to see and she adapted the tour to suit us. She's friendly & knowledgeable and we've stayed in touch. 100% recommend Joyce. If you're interested, I'll dig up her contact info.

In 14 days on the breakaway there was only one food I didn't like, the oysters.
The rest of the food was fine. Growing up in a family of 7, children of very poor immigrants, I NEVER take food for granted. I didn't raise a fuss with the oysters, I simply let the waiter take my plate away. In fairness, he did offer to bring me another appetizer-a kind gesture that I declined.
