When did I say we only wanted to buy one? We were considering two future cruises (already booked one with the first certificate and will be booking another one next week, now that we have a "free" deposit). Until she told me I could get two for one, didn't know that deal was even possible. The way I see it, we're $250 ahead. Case closed.

When you said, “On our cruise last week, we bought a $250 CN and I told the salesperson I didn't want $100 OBC for the current cruise.”

You started your post by saying you were only buying one.

So, I got "preyed on" for getting $500 worth of certificates for $250?? I'll take getting "preyed on" like that every day of the week.

Tell you what...you give me $500 and I'll give you $250. Now who got "preyed on"?

Yes, because you only wanted to buy one cruise next which would have cost you $150….  But by saying you didn’t want the OBC, they talked you into spending another $100 that you didn’t want to spend in the first place.

They call it OBC but it’s not really, it just offsets the price of the CN.

1 CN for total of $150 (value of $250)

2 CN for total of $250 (value of $500)

3 CN for total of $375 (value of $750)

4 CN for total of $500 (value of $1000)

The problem is NCL's insistence to refer to the $250 credit as "Non-Refundable OBC".

Typically, non-refundable means use it or lose it. Not in this case.

On our cruise last week, we bought a $250 CN and I told the salesperson I didn't want $100 OBC for the current cruise. She said, in that case, she can give us an extra $250 CN certificate at no charge. At first I didn't believe her. Sounded too good to be true. But sure enough, our account showed two CN certificates at $250 each...a $250 charge to our account...and $250 listed as "Non-Refundable OBC.

I began to worry about the "use it or lose it" aspect of Non-Refundable OBC...but sure enough, our account balanced out at the end and we got the $250 "extra" certificate ($500 total) at no cost..

And you’re exactly who they prey on…

If you had just taken the one CN and OBC, you would have paid $150 for your one CN valued at $250.

Instead, they talked you into taking two CN and you paid an extra $100 more than you would have paid to start with. But you did get two CN now for $250 instead of just one for $150.

You will have all free at sea options. You would need to pay the grats on dining and drinks if you select them. You will pay the haven daily service charge. The Haven bar is like any other bar on the ship. No “free” drinks because you are a haven guest. Pay with your drinks package if you have one.

Unless something has changed, you do NOT get any additional perks on bidding upgrades to the Haven.  You get Haven benefits but no additional Free at Sea perks.

My mom and I have upgraded to the haven before and we just put a pillow in the middle so neither of us roll to the other side. Lol We have no issues sharing a bed as long as we are in the HAVEN lol

That’s exactly what we did.  The butler brought extra pillows and we kind of built a pillow fort.  After the first night, the room was always turned down with the pillow fort put in place for us.  It was wonderful.

I am confused by this- as people who bid get only the perks from their old room and should not get the added perks of booking Haven direct. Does this mean that bidding also gives you the added perk of the thermal suites? Or by bidding (and not booking) do you not have access to this perk? I'm intrigued by this as the only other point I can think of would be the extra latitude point per night.

If you stay in the Haven, regardless of whether you booked to start or bid to upgrade, you get Haven access and perks.  The only thing you don’t get if you bid is the extra latitude point.

That really stinks. Those are the best two stops on the cruise. Eliminate Costa Maya and shorten Harvest Caye. We are on this cruise in April. Harvest Caye almost looks like a ship day with the prices on the little island.

It’s just not that easy.  The first stop is Cozumel and they can’t get there in time for their scheduled arrival…. The pier may not be available the following day or at all the remainder of the week due to other scheduled calls.  And Harvest Caye is in between two other ports so shortening it really doesn’t get you anything to gain.

I hope the port to cut short would be Harvest Caye and the one to skip is Costa Maya. Too much good snorkeling opportunities from Cozumel and Roatan. It would be horrible to miss those two stops of HC and CM.

Sailing to Roatan now..  so skipping Cozumel and likely shortening Roatan.

Oops!  Facts are tough.... why do people think they can just say whatever they want? The internet is forever...

You're not being entirely honest either.  The reason it was red was because of ONE crew member testing positive BEFORE any passengers were ever on board the ship.  If it was red for the first revenue sailing, it was only a carry over precaution from the prior crew member testing positive prior to embarkation with paying passengers.

Not from me they don't.   First they take away my chocolate martinis now my favorite wine by the glass.  Eventually I guess they will take away Michelob Ultra and make you drink some sort of substitute skunky beer if you don't want to be up charged.   I am among NCL's biggest proponents but between me and my wife they are already getting $300 in tips for a week's worth of adult beverages and they are not getting another dime from us.

We just got off Breakaway today and there were plenty of chocolate martinis to be had.

Looks like the ambulance is meeting them on the pier next to Allure.

Saw the ambulance drive out on the pier on the live webcam.  I imagine the family is just beside themselves as long as it takes to back the ship in and maneuver.  Hopefully the person is stable currently while everyone works to maintain the safety of everyone involved with an emergency stop such as this.

Excellent plan. You’ll love it. We won a Haven bid on our 2nd cruise and now that’s the only way I want to cruise!

I'm afraid I'm going to be hooked!  I honestly thought there was no chance we'd win a bid as only 3 Haven Spa rooms were even available every time I looked.

I'm so excited now and missing out on three cruises due to Covid, this kinda makes up for it.

Make sure to avail yourselves of the private Haven Dining. It’s awesome. We love the breakfasts particularly.  Very civilized. And the priority boarding and disembarkation for shore excursions is terrific.

We've got three nights with no dining planned that we'll likely go to the Haven restaurant now and will definitely enjoy breakfast there to avoid the crowds on port days.

  14. Looking for anyone who has experience with the Breakaway Class Haven Spa upgrades. We bid on a fluke thinking we would not get the upgrade at all because our upgrade was rated "poor". Well, we got it!  It's my mom and I traveling for a delayed retirement trip since she retired last year and I'm curious about the room set up.  We joked that one of us could sleep on the couch if we actually did win as the floorpans show a couch but looking further at photos, only a small table and chair are shown.

Does anyone know if the beds can be split into two like the normal room queen beds can? If not, does anyone know if the rooms do indeed have couches in them?  And if not, does anyone know if you can have a roll-away brought into the room in order to have two separate beds?

Any insight or information would be great appreciated. Thanks in advance!
