I've posted this photo previously and it shows the typical distance between two tops that are side to side. The person at table 187 sitting on the bench would definitely have a tight squeeze getting in/out.

This is similar to the one evening we spent in YTD since we were overnight in port. It would not have been a bad experience had we not been seated next to a couple completely wasted.

I wish I could of gotten a picture of the tables we were assigned in our MDR. They were much closer together. The 3” separation of the table was no exaggeration. Obviously there was more room between the actual chairs but the tables were too close.

We went to the MDR in advance on the first day before dinner to make sure we had a table for two. When we saw how close together the tables were we asked to be moved to a different table, they told us the early dining was full and we should just try it out.

  2. We have in the past requested private tables in advance either through email to the Maitre’d of the ship or through John Heald.

Once was a table for 2 and we were sat directly in a walking path, it was like they grabbed a table from the back and added it to a walkway.

Another time we requested a private table for my Husband, 3 year old daughter and myself. We were sat at a two person table with an extra chair scooted up to the side. The space was so crowded they had a hard time putting dinner plates in front of us.

And the third time we requested a private table for our group of 5 and we were out at a table for 4 with a fifth chair slid up to the side. Again it was beyond crowded.

So this time around we figured we would just wait until on board and go to the MDR and check on our table and make sure it was a private table for 2. We went there and it was a table for two but it was a row of four tables for two people each separated by no more than 3 inches each. Like i has to be careful not to elbow the stranger beside me if I moved my arms much. We asked for a more private table. They said the dining room was booked so they couldn’t move us. The only reason this ended up working out for us was the table next two us only came two nights and the other table next to us never showed up at all. We watched as almost every night about half of the tables showed up and many more private tables were never occupied.

Now I know a lot of people will suggest YTD if you want a specific seating arrangement. Well one night we were staying in port so everyone was sent to the dining rooms as YTD. We again asked for. A private table for two and were sat in a row of four tables 3 inches apart. We were also sat next to an empty table that was soon occupied by some of the drunkest cruisers I have ever seen. Like the man was leaned over in front of my dinner plate from his seat asking how good my meal was.

It really put a big damper on our dinners as the reason we ask for more private tables is my husband who works in construction has a hard time of hearing and when we are surrounded by people on either side he has a hard time hearing our conversation and he talked a louder since he’s hard of hearing and it interrupts the strangers dinners as well.

  3. We emailed John before our cruise with our three children. We requested a table for 5 since we were going to have the kids and thought it was best to not be sat with other guests. They put us at a table for four with an extra chair slid in. It was so crowded that one of children’s chairs touched the person at the table behind us chair. The dining staff couldn’t walk through that wall the entire week they had to go around. We also took a cruise with three people and requested a private table. They sat us at a table for two and slid a chair in on the side. Again it was very crowded.

  4. We just got off the Dream on Sunday. We had our three girls (14,13, and 5) booked in a room with me and our son (11) booked in my husbands room. They stopped us every time getting off the ship at port and made sure the adult from the room was present to let the kids off the boat. We also witnessed security stopping two older teenage girls not be allowed off for an excursion because their adult wasn’t going off the boat.

  5. Does anyone have any recent menus from the 7 day dream going to Cozumel, Grand cayman, and Montego Bay? I’ve been trying to search for them but I’m not having much luck. Thanks in advance! Also, are all of the ships now on the American table/feast menus?

As long as you spend 500 bucks or more total.

Ok thanks! I was looking at our booking and I can’t see where I prepay? Is it in my online check in? Also does it matter if I make two separate payments for two bookings that’s equal over $500?

  7. For more detail, last pregancy I had congestive heart failure after giving birth. I believe it resulted from having preeclampsia that went undiagnosed. I had a great pregnancy up until the last three month where I began to swell and have high blood pressure that the doctor did nothing for. Then went through 30 hrs of labor and had a 10lb 9oz baby. They said that there was no reason why my heart failed but I know that was why.

  8. So I originally thought that the only stipulation was not being over 24 weeks and having a doctors note. But I just read you can not be a high risk pregnancy?! Has anyone cruised pregnant being high risk? Or is this a no brainer, no cruising?

  9. This is our first time with FTTF and we are unsure of what time we should arrive to the port. We are seasoned cruisers and understand the check in procedures with new arrival times but this is our first splurge on FTTF. What time will the port open? What time is best to get there to avoid waiting forever for them to start boarding? We usually pick the earliest arrival time we can and show up right on time but I wasn’t sure what is best to do with FTTF! Thanks in advance!!

  10. We were on the Magic in February this year and it felt like we would hit a huge wave a then the ship would shudder after. That’s the only way I know how to describe it. Also there were not waves big enough to be creating the feeling. Also my husband usually never feels the boat moving and he mentioned multiple times how he couldn’t believe how much it was rocking. It was strange as our weather was perfect and so was the sea.

  11. We just booked this cabin on an 8 night cruise next year!! So excited. I was just wondering if anyone had stayed in this cabin and if so how was the noise level as well as is the view blocked from the balcony by the bar? Any information would be great!!! Thanks in advance.

  12. My kids first cruise they were 9, 11 and 12. Two of them were sick like me the first two days. Sick enough we didn’t have an appetite but not sick enough to throw up. My husband and our other kid were perfectly fine. My husband never even feels the boat move and I still feel it moving two days after being back home. I didn’t bring any sort of meds that cruise so we just spent as much time out in the fresh air until it subsided. Since then I have been on two more cruises and haven’t gone without the sea sickness pills you can get at the pharmacy with no prescription. I take one every night starting the day before we travel and half of one for the kids who get sick like me. Works wonders.

  13. We were so excited to receive our first upgrade offer this morning! We were hoping it was for next months cruise with just The husband and myself. Turned out to be for our cruise next January with all four kids. We have connecting rooms now on deck six and they offered to upgrade us to one room on deck 9 and one room on deck 11?????? We obviously passed on the offers. I did call carnival and was able to take advantage of their current promotion though. We paid $40 per room to move from deck six to deck 8 but we also received $50 per room onboard credit. We were happy with that!

  14. On my husband and I’s First cruise we were going to fly in the day of. Husband wanted to fly in the day before but I didn’t want to to save money. Well, it just so happened that a crazy person set fire to the control station in Chicago days before our cruise and it threw a monkey wrench in all flights from that airport which is one we were connecting with. Flights were canceled and delayed for a while. We called and they nicely switched us to the flight the day earlier than our cruise and we said never again. We have flown in the day before for every cruise since.
