  1. I had no idea they would do this. We always book cabins that have a pull out couch in them but we only have two people and have never had a problem with booking or getting bumped. We always cruise in the winter though when less kids are on board.

How do you know the max capacity of each cabin when booking? I hope we don't get bumped out of our booked suites cuz someone else wants to pack it full!

The website I was looking at told us what each room holds. It's not a huge deal but I wanted to make sure there was a 0% chance of being bumped because it just isn't worth the risk. Now if we were traveling just my husband and myself it wouldn't be a big deal at all. It would make no difference to us. But with having the connecting rooms I don't even want to risk being separated. Like I said too the cabins we moved to are not in a bad location, it was our second pick as we do like being near the atrium it's just a further walk to the activities closer to the aft of the ship.

  2. You've already made the switch so this information isn't really pertinent, however, since you are sailing in January I doubt the ship would reach capacity so you probably would have been fine. I would have taken the risk to get the cabin location I wanted, knowing that there was a possibility of being moved (but a very small risk in my opinion).

If you were sailing over a holiday or school vacation period I would have been worried. January is one of the slowest seasons for cruising.

I understand it for me it isn't worth the stressing for months and then even have the slightest possibility of being moved. If we got down to the wire and we were moved we would most likely not have any possibilty of getting connecting rooms. We were mid ship located more aft and now we are midship located a bit more forward right near the atrium.

  3. It could still work out for you. With rooms in the forward part of the ship you could get assigned to the Crimson dinning room mid-ship instead of the Scarlet dinning room in the Aft. You will also be closer to the Encore Show room.

and to be honest the walking isn't exactly the worst. With all that food we will be eating we could use the extra steps !!!

  4. Thanks for all the responses! I called carnival and they did say if they reached capacity and needed the room we could very well indeed by bumped. In that event it would probably be too close to the cruise to find available connecting room :( so we switched to our second pick of connecting rooms that are a 2 and 4 combo and a longer walk to the dining room at the back of the ship but now we don't have to worry for the next year and a half about being bumped.

  5. I doubt it because they are connecting cabins, but is possible if they need a 3 person cabin and you only have 2 people in the cabin. Most of the time, they won't even allow people to book 2 in a 3 person cabin unless you pay for the 3rd person. How did you book, a PVP, TA, online?

Straight through carnival over the phone. I may call and see if it's a possibility and if so I many move our booking to another conncting combo. They had a 2 and 4 connecting room combo but it was more towards the front of the ship and it's such a long walk to the dining rooms in the back of the ship! So we booked in this combo but I don't want to risk being bumped and then not having the connecting rooms!!

  6. So we just booked two connecting rooms on the Dream for January 2019. We put four in one cabin (designed for up to 4 people) and 2 in the other one (designed for up to 3). Is there a chance that we could be bumped from the room that could hold 3 people? This would totally mess up the connecting room plan as we are traveling with our four kids!!! Now I'm a little worried after seeing people have been bumped. :(

  7. Two cruises ago I got motion sickness on the drive from MCO to our hotel near the port. We were sitting in the front of a charter bus but the driver was swerving all over the road and the ride lasted over an hour : / I have also had motion sickness on almost every cruise we have done. The one time I actually took the regular Dramamine I slept away almost half the cruise. Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm for sure going to get some meds from the pharmacist and then go from there on what is best for the little kids. Thanks !!!!

  8. Thanks for all the responses! I'm not too worried about the price, just more of the side effects. I know Walmart also sells an equate brand as well. I get motion sickness in vehicles even in the front seat so I want to make sure whatever i get works but I don't want to be sleeping the entire time either :) thanks!!!

  9. has anyone tried the ginger type and if so how did it work. Normal Dramamine makes me drowsy, but then they also have a "less drowsy" kind that I haven't tried. And does the kids stuff make them drowsy as well? Last cruise 3 of the 5 of us were feeling not so great the first two days and almost every cruise I go on the first day I don't feel that great either.

  10. Make sure that you call the PVP dedicated line and request a PVP. That way you'll be talking to the same person during the entire booking process. Otherwise you'll be dealing wit a general reservations agent. In your case, it may be in your best interest to request a PVP simply because your booking is a bit more complicated.

Is the a certain number I would call for PVPs or do I just call carnival and request to be contacted by one?

  11. We are still trying to decide what room combination we want to go with on the next cruise we are booking. Is there a way to possibly email a PVP so we can get a list of room options. We really want connecting rooms but whenever I do a mock booking I can't ever get connecting rooms. This is why I would like to see if a PVP could possibly email me what options would be available and at what prices. It seems like too much to just call carnivals 800 number for booking and ask for quotes on at least 5 or more books options. If anyone has a PVP they love or advice on how to get one I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!!!!!

  12. It may help if you clear previous history and cookies, close everything down and try again. I have had no problems checking the website, and I do that every time before going there.

Could you possibly tell me how to do that? I am beyond un-tech savvy.

  13. Everytime I search to check prices I get to a certain point in the mock booking and then it says "you can't have more than one tab open, click here to search again" and I can't go any further. I don't get it. I only have one tab open, or at least that I know of. Any advice.

  14. If only 1 adult drinks.... put the adults in separate rooms for drink package purposes. We have four teens also and play with the bookings to get the best price.

    Happy Cruising! GG6

That's a great thought. Neither of us have ever bought the package but my husband may be interested. I on the other hand would be on the news for falling off the boat if I had access to that much alcohol so it wouldn't be an option for myself.

  15. We have a similar situation. We have 4 kids between 16 and 4. We are doing our first cruise in February on the Breeze. We booked 2 connecting rooms that hold 3 each. We found that to be the best option for us.

If you do t mind me asking, what type of room did you book? We are having a hard time deciding between an oceanviews or balconies that connect if we decide to go the connecting route. We like being more midship like deck 6-7 but it seems like the highest we would be able to go with an oceanview would be 1 or 2. We have also considered booking my husband, 5 yr old and myself in either a balcony or oceanview and putting the older three in an interior to save a bit but My husband really liked the ease of the connecting doors and we can't decide if it's worth saving a few hundred dollars.

  16. Thanks for the advice. I'm having a hard time with carnivals website for some reason. It keeps saying I can not have multiple tabs open even when I do not. I would call to look at options but I'm not quite ready to put the deposit down so I don't want to call and bother a PVP quite yet either. I just didn't know if anyone had previous experience on what kind of connecting rooms the dream does offer.

  17. We are looking at taking a cruise out of NOLA on the Dream possibly next year. There will be six of us with the kids being 5,11,13 and 14 at the time.

What would be the best room configuration for us? This year we took a cruise with the older three and had connecting ocean view rooms. It seemed to work very well. We would like to have connecting rooms again, with either the older three in one or even all four kids in one.

    Which would be cheaper?

Also we are ok with the kids being in an interior but My husband needs at least a window. Is there a configuration where we could be connected that way?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  18. We were on the Ecstasy last week and the way they had it arranged just seemed odd. They had the two lower twin beds about 2 ft apart. One under the window and the other halfway blocking the connecting door between our room and our kids. Then the Pullman bed was at the feet of that bed. So to get to the bed by the Window you either had to crawl over a bed or crawl under the Pullman at the feet of a bed.
