  1. Thanks Pete. I think it was your post from years ago that came up in a search :-) There isn't much info online about the lounge but I did read someone outside of CC saying the lounge was not much (just a lot of chairs). Is it slightly better than 'just a lot of chairs"?.

  2. In CC posts from several years ago there is mention of the MSC airport lounge and the ability to leave luggage at the msc cruise terminal for free for a few hours after disembarkation.

Does anyone know if these facilities are still available?

    Thanks

  3. What do you recommend to do if you disembark your cruise at 9.30am in Genoa and your taxi to Genoa airport is around 1.30pm? So you have approx 4 hours to kill...with 4 big cases, 4 bags of hand luggage and 2 kids.

Going straight to the airport does not seem appealing ..the kids will be bored. And Genoa airport is quite small!

Can you give me an idea of what options are feasible? What would you do in this situation? Where to go? What to do?

    Thank you so much!!!

  4. They are funny sized photos though...i'm struggling to find frames for the big ones. The quality of them is beautiful and it is such fun stopping to pose at the numerous photo backdrops! We noticed the photo staff gave out a free photo of the ship if you asked nicely for one. We got a voucher for two free photos from the dining room too. Old news for the experienced msc travellers, but hopefully helpful to a first timer.

  5. I think you should do the lottery because you picked a really good cabin based on choosing by lucky numbers

IMHO the location is just where I would want to be, on the front hump and as near to the midships as possible for an Aurea cabin.

It is a few paces away from the forward bank of lifts, just enough to be away from any possible noise , except from unthinking guests.

The cabin is 192 sq. ft. (168 living area; 24 bathroom) with a 42 sq. ft. balcony.

There is no overhang from deck 14 to worry about and you will have uninterrupted views forward and aft.

Downwards will be a small portion of a lifeboat roof

There will be a double sofa bed in the cabin

    HERE IS ITS LOCATION

    Pete

Pete you are brilliant! Thank you for that prompt helpful reply!! Is there some cruise critic medal we can award you?

Glad i picked a decent cabin..i feel reassured by your response and love the photo....printing it out for our scrapbook!

In terms of next week's lottery...i predict 1, 11, 19, 25, 27 and 41. If anyone wins, please buy me a cruise. Lol.

    Thanks again Pete xx

  6. Pete

    Amazing contribution! So much detail!

Do you have time to provide some information about cabin 12070? I had to pick an aurea cabin and went for that based on lucky numbers! Did i make an ok choice?

Thank you and hope you are having a good day :-)

  7. A simple tip...but for those not sure whether to get one of the pre-paid photo packages...get one!! The photos taken are lovely on board but the price on board is so much more. There is no deal on board that comes close to the pre-paid deals. On the next msc cruise i am definitely going for the 100 photo deal. The photo staff onboard told me that was a cracking deal!

  8. Forgot to add...i wanted to know which massages were available pre cruise too. The msc spa brochure (available via a google search) lists some but not all of the treatments you can get free. On board there was a much longer list. I had balinese with reflexology. Hubby had balinese. Next time we want the balinese with lava stones as we think that will be a bit more soothing and relaxing than the the ones we chose. Although i needed a good strong massage after carrying luggage!!!

  9. Breakfast is FOC in the room with Aurea. But there is a limited choice (as you would expect). Ours was delivered on time (with a phone call to let us know it was on its way).

Spa wise..you have a choice of a 55 minute massage. Lots to choose from. I recommend you book these soon after embarkation. Make sure you get the diffuser and spa welcome cocktail voucher if you want these perks..these should be in the room (they were not for us on the Poesia and we had to ask guest services and house keeping for them. Some people we know who had the aurea package missed out).

With aurea, we liked access to the exclusive solarium on the top deck and the choice of visiting the spa any time...as well as the all inclsive drinks package.

No idea about finding what events will take place. I wanted to know this for my poesia cruise earlier this month. From reviews, i took formal clothing, something white for white night and something to fit in if it was italian night. On our 6 day cruise we had 2 gala nights and 1 white night. The white night was fun. It is nice seeing everyone all dressed up. Enjoy your cruise!

  10. Hi there. We were on that cruise too and it was our first MSC cruise. I thought the itinerary was amazing..loved Rome, Corfu, Kotor and Venice. I wasn't too amazed with Split in Croatia and thought it would be like Dubrovnik. I echo your thoughts about MSC dining and entertainment. The shows were farcical (but we were able to giggle through them with a few drinks in us and the kids loved them). The food..well..it is a huge contrast to food on DCL (the other cruise line we have been on). No finesse and bland. The buffet was fine I thought (if you just need something to eat quickly). We didn't starve but wasn't impressed with the food in the restaurants.

In terms of service, I feel MSC can strive to offer a more polished and professional service. A few issues encountered: no laundry bag in room and had to request one many times to get one, the benefits of aurea package (diffuser and spa welcome cocktail) - i had to ask for these (i would not have been given them if i didnt ask as other aurea people missed out), told we had not done the safety drill and received a note demanding we attend the next day (we has attended!! And taken photos!), the spa got our appointment times messed up by making an error when inputting the appointments times. Oh and the TV was broken..had to report this on 3 days for something to be done.

Thank God the alcohol was included, the kids loved the kids club and the places we visited were great. As that made our holiday. Also the ship was beautiful and I liked the events...formal some nights, fun on others, and relaxed on the majority. Staff were very pleasant (esp bar services staff)

We have rebooked next year on MSC ..different ship to Poesia. Mainly because of price, itinerary choice and better reviews of the Divina. If there are issues next year, it will be time to move on to a different cruise line.
