  1. There were a lot of bachelor and bachelorette parties. On the positive side I think most of the spring breakers are done by now. The first night was out of hand, but the rest of the nights were fine. Everyone seemed to break into different area of the ship depending on age. We didn't come across too many rowdy people. The pool are was the noisiest area. People seemed to favor the anytime dining than the buffet.

  2. Two friends and myself took the 3 night/4 day cruise to Ensenada. We departed on 3/30 and returned 4/1

The good: The staff and entertainment were the best part. I was on RCL a few years ago and the cabin steward had fewer people to attend to, but was almost never around and forgot about our requests. Viktor on CC had a lot of people to attend to but was always around and very responsive. Other passengers who cruised on this itinerary before were envious as they had a different steward.

We loved the Epic Rock show, the comedians and the last night party in the atrium.

One of my friends smokes so we hung out at the bar next to the casino. The bartender Christine was very gracious and fun. There is a stage for live music and all the band's were excellent. Christine added to the vibe. It was a nice hangout for the 40 + crowd. We also liked the smoking area on deck 11.

The food was acceptable. My friends weren't into the MDR, we had your time dining and it was very rushed. Cruising with other friends on RCL we would really look forward to the MDR. People have different cruise styles.

Guys was great and I liked my breakfast burrito at the Blue Iguana.

Ensenada was lovely. We got excursions off the ship and saved $$$. I spend a lot of vacations in Mexico so it was nice seeing a new area.

The bad: The decor!!!! It was dark, ugly and depressing. It made the difference between an okay cruise and a great one.

Pizza Pirate and lido buffet off hours: There were only one or two pizzas made at a given time. Being that the comedy club is right below pizza pirate you'd think they would make more pizzas. Also the hours at the lido buffet were odd. A friend got up late and missed the buffet. If she didn't like burgers she would have had to wait till dinner. She didn't want room service.

I would have liked to have used the hot tubs on the serenity deck, but unlike the monitoring of the chaise lounges the hot tubs were not monitored. People got in at 11:00 am and stayed. It was unseasonably cold and it would have been nice to soak for awhile. I am not a sauna person or I would have used the sauna.

Lastly, CC mislead me when I asked about spring break and notorious partying. I was informed that they don't book people under 25 unless they are with their parents. As I wandered around the ship there were lots of kids who were celebrating their 21st birthday and I didn't see their parents. I got into a few conversations with some younger passengers and most were in cabins with kids 20-23.

Overall, I had fun. A lot depends on who you go with. My friends will be rebooking, but I'd rather save my money for a longer cruise on a newer ship with less visually assaulting decor. I will try CC again. I don't think the Imagination is a good representation of CC.

  3. Our check in was 1:00 but as we arrived earlier and were looking for a place to sit in the sunshine at the dock. A cruise employee told us we could board earlier. We also had FTTF. We were on the ship with drinks in hand an hour early. I carried my luggage. Next time I'll get there even earlier.

  4. Asking people to stop complaining about MDR is like asking people not to make comments on Yelp. It ain't gonna happen. I wish I had paid better attention to the complaints about the MDR prior to my cruise. For me the dinner in the MDR is a big part of the cruise. Well had tablecloths on the Imagination and unlike the overall weird decor of the rest of the ship, I really liked the MDR. The friends I was with preferred the buffet.

  5. I was just on this cruise and found it to be a mixed bag. I am not complaining just to complain either. One size shoe doesn't fit all feet. While I don't expect a 24 hrs buffet, I think that the little buffet between Guy's and the taco bar could have stayed open when the regular buffet was closed (until dinner). I'll write my own review at a later date.

  6. I was just on this cruise. The cheers package includes coffee drinks at the coffee bars and sodas as well. The average cocktail is about $10 beer is about $8 depending on the brand. The cheers program covers all days and tax is included when in port in LB. The wine is one bottle per person, this might be your best bet. The Lido buffet has water and ice at no charge.

The shows are very good and free.

  7. Can you negotiate with the rep at the cruise line or a travel agent? For instance, I am paying double for a cabin, can I ask for onboard credit to bring my expenses down?

Finding a buddy to travel with is hard, I know of a few friendships that ended on vacation, The only other alternative to not wasting money is to ask a person if they would like to cruise for free, It is still costly for the friend if there is airfare, excursions, etc.

  8. I know you have been there and back, but for other people wanting to know I used Island Marketing Tours. They were very reasonable and very organized. I was in Belize, but friends have used their services on several Caribbean Islands and only had good things to say. Other cruisers on the Belize trip said they use Island Marketing for all of their excursions.

On St. Thomas I recommend the bus trip to Magen's Bay. I know everyone goes there, but it is beautiful and you can swim and snorkel and sunbath. It is a very relaxing place. The buses are right outside of the port. The bus also gives you a good tour of St. Thomas. We stayed at Magen's Bay for half a day and then took the bus back to town. The driver gave us some great tips and he dropped us off at the skyride attraction.

  9. I know you have already been to SF, but I am sure others will be researching this. FW and Union Square are super crowded with tourists and they book very quickly. IMHO there are much nicer areas to stay. I liked the Galleria as well, it is in the financial district. I like the Harbor Court Hotel it is across from the embarcadero and near public transportation. It is also close to the cruise ship port as well. SF is not very big so it is a short taxi/uber drive to the port from most hotels in SF. For the budget minded there are a lot of hotels in the Marina district.

I'd stay away from the Tenderloin, area some Union Square hotels border on the Tenderloin. I have walked around south of market near Moscone and the Metreon in the evening w/o incident, but kept my wits about me. I like The Mosser and Hotel Palomar both are just a little south of market st and they are further away from the sketchier sections. SF is a lot like any city, I am a single female and have walked around at night without problems.

I usually take BART from the airport and Uber if there is a lot of luggage.

  10. Which cruise lines have the longest amount of time tendered or docked? I'd like to take advantage of excursions and eating some great seafood. Ideally my itinerary will be at least 7 nights and ending in Vancouver, B.C., Seattle or San Francisco. Thanks.
