  1. Luckily, I've never been to the naughty room. Although this is a bit off topic from the OP's question, for those of you thinking about or discussing carrying alcohol on board, I recommend Shampbooze (search for it on Amazon). Usually, old containers that are re-purposed have a funny smell or taste from the original product, but these containers are made for carrying alcohol. I just throw a few in my toiletry bag and cross my fingers! Perhaps I'm being naive, but my hope is that the security people only think "Wow, these people must have beautiful hair if they shampoo and condition this much!" :p

  2. Surrounding both main pools, there is a shallow area (probably about four inches deep) to cool off, but to enter the pool, you have to either jump in, use the ladder, or slide in from the edge of that shallow area. This photo should help: e32df6d11a9c3caa6af4beb948fdcb7b.jpg

Edit: I should have mentioned that there is handicapped access as well via a hydraulic lift.

  3. I've heard people enjoy Turk and Cacos(sp), but few itineraries go there. It seems RC occasionally goes to another port in the Dominican Republic something with an "s"? I didn't hear to many good things. RC basically created a new port for us Fallmouth, I'll keep an open mind as first cruise going there since the port opened is coming up.

When I reach Diamond, I would consider a X cruise that goes to a couple of different areas.

Are you thinking of Samana, Dominican Republic? I went on a 9 night from Bayonne on the Explorer in February 2013, and it was one of our ports of call. It was a really interesting place, and the zipline excursion was one of the best excursions I have experienced. Perhaps we just got lucky with weather and our tour!

  4. There was a White Party on the November 13th sailing, but I have to admit I was a little disappointed with the music. I was thinking the music would be pop/Top 40 (for the most part) for a dance party by the pool instead of 80's to early 00's, however it could have been our particular DJ. Depending on what type of music your daughter and her friend are into, they might consider going to The Catacombs. Have fun!

  5. My Mom and I are going on the Liberty next month, and when we went to complete our online check-in this past weekend, we noticed that although we paid in full, there was a $60 balance due. We called C&A, and after the customer service representative climbed a few rungs up the ladder, she came back to tell us that no one had any idea where that $60 came from, and it was immediately removed from our account. I hope you get your discrepancy resolved as well!

  6. With the Vision class ships hitting the 20 year old mark soon, I was wondering if anyone had opinions, insights, etc. as to RCI's next class of ships after Quantum. I realize this is rather far off, but it's fun to think about (at least for me). I know a lot of folks here would love revived/revised Radiance sized ships, but can we realistically expect Freedom/Quantum sized ships from here on out? How much longer do you think RCI will hang out to older Vision class ships? Other thoughts?

Thanks for entertaining my lunchtime daydreaming. :)

  7. When my family used to sail together, we either did two connecting inside rooms or my parents would get a balcony or Promenade and then my brother and I would get in inside. Although it would have been nice for my brother and I to have a balcony, I know the whole family enjoyed having more space as well as the two bathrooms for getting ready. Plus, when we were done getting ready, we just hung out in their room. And of course, it was usually a substantial cost savings. I think you made a wise choice!

  8. We did not do the Dolphin Experience, but did have an excursion to Dunn's River Falls. All of the articles I read about it said that it was bored and overrated. Luckily, I felt they were completely WRONG! I loved Dunn's River and had a great time. We did the "Cruise to the Falls" excursion and when we got off of the yaght, they had an area where there were blankets on the sand and they let you put you stuff on top while an employee watched your things. I cannot guarantee that will be the same for you, but most likely it will. Sorry that I cannot comment about the Dolphin excursion, but I'm sure someone else will. Enjoy your cruise!
