  1. Follow-up posts to this may get pretty exciting. I counsel you to stay very far away from stating you'll be turning in your laundry with your mom's. It's a hot-button topic for lots of people.

About the only perks I can think you'll be able to take advantage of are sharing the mini-bar setup, being a guest at the evening Platinum/Elite/Suite lounge and maybe she'll purchase something for you with her 10% boutique discount.

Oh no! Thank you. It didn't occur to me how that might come across to someone. I am thinking of "cabin-wide" perks like early embarkation and the mini-bar set-up (we are diet Coke girls!) For a while I also thought that Elites got priority at anytime dining until my parents set me straight about that. :D

  2. I'd certainly be very happy with a few more "Elite Plus" benefits. Increased internet minutes, Sabatini breakfast, priority table reservations etc would all be nice...

My parents are Elite and I'm cruising with my Mom in May, so I'm excited to be able to take advantage of some of her Elite perks. We were just talking the other day about how cutting in line for Anytime Dining would be a nice benefit. :D

  3. I was reading a LOT of posts yesterday and thought I saw someone say that you can get the week's dinner menus at the Purser's Desk the first day. Now I can't find the post. Am I crazy or can you actually do that? I thought it was mentioned in the context of deciding which night you might want to do specialty dining.

  4. I'm cruising with my Mom in May. She's Elite, so woohoo for me! =)

I plan to embark as soon as we can, drop our stuff at the cabin, then get on the list for Chef's Table dinner.

We will likely eat lunch in the MDR. We are cruising from Seattle and I am excited to see everything as we sail through Elliott Bay and the Straits of Juan de Fuca. We will pass my hometown and places I've known forever and I can't wait to see them from that vantage point. So, we plan on staying on deck and skipping dinner that first night. I told my Dad to watch for us! =)

  5. My Mom & I are cruising in May and this is on my bucket list. One question, though. A couple of you have said you get on the list and are told the night you got in later. Do they only do it a couple nights? Is on a formal night (my Mom likes the food on formal nights)? Also, what if you had made reservations for Crown Grille or somewhere else or will they know that?
