It's hard to say. I prefer to older ones, but I also have the newer ones.

Is the pin dated? If it is, then that's a keeper. Some of the older pins

are more rare than the new pins with both names. Some of the newer ships only have both on them.

This is only my opinion. Maybe once Joe gets back on line, he can chime

    in on this question.

May be Renee can chime in also with her opinion.

The pins sold in the gift shop are not like the past guest pins that were

given away and the ones everyone is collecting. The new pins sold

in the gift shops are a different style funnel pin with the ship name

on it and are much larger. They cost $4.95 each. Hope this answers your

    question.

Really can't tell if a Carnival one or not. But they did or still do sell

this kind of pin in the gift shops. You can tell it is a Carnival ship

because of the whale tail smoke stack and each has the ships name on it.

I have a few of them.

The one you have does not have a ship name on it. It may be a older

pin that was sold in the gift shops. Maybe some one else can help you.

  4. Hello Everyone

I have been busy for the last few days and have not been checking this board. Looks like the person on ebay found some suckers. :(

Joe, Thank you for clearing things up about the pins and supporting me with my replies.

Now, I see some of you need pins. If you will email me, I will check my supply and see what I have. I need to put some :):):) on some faces.

And yes my pins are the real things. LOL :D

If I don't have the pin you need, I will try to locate one for you.

I recently put some BIG :)'s on some faces and that makes me feel real good.

I am really glad to see all of you helping each other out with their collection. That is what this is all about.

Three final notes, please contact me before you buy anything on ebay.

I mentioned last week that I will post some pictures of my collection.

I have not forgot about this and will do it when I get a chance. My

collection has all the real pins. The only pin I do not have is the Platnum

pin they are giving away now. But I know someday I will get one.

A lot of people on the main Carnival board on this site do not know about this thread. So if you ever see anyone talking about pins, direct them to this thread.

  5. OK Renee

I will try to post my collection this weekend. Between the two of us and JoeB, everyone will see what the real pins look like.

This ebay thing has got a lot of attention. I am glad everyone is finding out the truth and no spending good money for nothing.

Also, I want to mention this again. The person selling the pins on ebay will not give refunds. This is the first time I have ever seen this done on ebay.

Thanks for helping out with this. I am glad you explained it a little better than I did.

Did you see the older Holiday pin for $40.00 on ebay? In all my years,

I have never seen one like it. Have you?

  7. Hello Everyone

Yes I am aware of the pins on ebay. I was notified today by a good

FRIEND of the pins on ebay. The Mardi Gras pin on ebay is not like

the pin I have in my collection. The Mardi Gras and Carnivale pins are

shaped like a shield and not the whale tail pin. The Tropicale pin on ebay is like the two I have. One is dated 2000 and the other is plain, no date.

As far as the Festivale pin goes, I have one. It is like the whale tail pins.

I will say this, the person on ebay is asking a lot for pins that I have given away.

Also the Holiday pin that is selling for $40.00, I have never seen one like it. So I can't make judgement on it. Maybe JoeB can.

Now I will tell you about a pin you may not know about and it is very rare,

I have one. It is the Carnival Centennial Celebration in 1986 of the Statue Of Liberty. It was given out on the Jubille. If any of you are interested in having one, email me and I will put in touch with the person that has some extra's. I must warn you they are expensive since they are very rare.

A word of caution, remember the term buyer beware when it come to ebay. You will notice on the pins in this disscussion, the seler will not

    accept returns.

If you have anymore questions, email me.

One more thing, all of you know me and if you need a pin. Please contact me first and I will try to help you out for free. I just sent off some pins

today to another collector and I know I have put a :) on his face.

  8. As of today 6-06-11, I have not received any pins from the person I sent

    the four pins to.

I really appreciate all the emails I have received from everyone concerning

    this trade.

But PLEASE understand, I will not let this stop me from putting :):):)'s

on faces. I knew it would happen one of these days. I just hate I could

not get the pin for the person I was tradeing for to get the pin they

    needed for their collection.
