  1. We have decided to take the eastern itenirary in the fall 2020. This will be our first time to these ports. The sailings aren't listed yet, but hoping they continue with the 8 day to Key West, Freeport, Nassau, and Half Moon Cay.

I am trying to be prepared to book right when they come available because we want a grand scenic Oceanview.

We will be cruising with our then 6 year old son with special needs. The only difference I can see between the two ships is that Glory has waterworks which means the little kids slide. Which is a selling point for us.

I think I read Freedom is going into Drydock between now and then. If so, does anyone know if it is getting a waterworks upgrade?

Any other differences between the two ships that may help me decide?

We live in East Texas and drive to the port. Galveston is about an hour closer, but have sailed out of both ports.

  2. I was (and I think the other poster as well) talking about frozen drinks, not drinks on the rocks.

I wasn't aware you were talking about frozen drinks. All sorts of drinks have been mentioned.

With that being said, extra ice and mixer would be an issue if the bartender pours liquor for one drink and puts too much of the other. Then there would be frozen drink left in the blender after they pour your drink.

  3. Really? Doesn’t more ice water it down further diluting the product?

If the bartender puts 1.5 ounces of liquor in a glass packed with ice there would not be much room for mixer. So the drink would be strong.

Same amount of liquor with light ice leaves room for more mixer resulting in a weaker drink.

  4. Exactly what cruisinqt said.

Why spend more money and have less time at your destination? With the ship excursions so much time is spent loading and off loading the bus throughout the day. If you go private that leaves more time to actually see and do things.

Your snorkel time in Belize will double if you go private. And you can fly out to the better shark ray alley if you want to spend the money.

  5. Sort of. Smoking is generally on starboard side of deck 5 and deck 11. Sometimes all of the deck and sometimes only a part of it.

You can Google smoking deck plans and carnival has it broken down for each ship so you can see if your cabin is over it. (Tells you whether it is front, mid or back of those decks. So you will have a general idea)

  6. There are multiple different sales going on at the same time right now. From what I can see one has higher fares but offers more OBC, the other has lower fares and less OBC. Make sure to take both sides of that equation into account when choosing.

We booked as soon as the Jan 2020 cruises came available. And decided we would go as cheap as possible since it was an extra vacation that year. Having second thoughts and was curious to see how much a spa cabin would cost...$200 more including the obc difference. Eh, we have our normal rooms on the other cruises so we will stick with what we have. $830 with taxes and gratuities is too good to pass up.

  7. I'm going to guess that the full range of OBC is not necessarily available on all ships. I did a mock booking on the Freedom for May 2019 and garnered an OBC of $100.

I thought it might be something along that line. I had just never encountered it before. But, this sailing is farther out than I have ever booked too.

  8. I thought about upgrading our cabin Dream 2020 during this sale because we booked early saver with $50 obc. And this promotion is the same so I thought.

Was told the obc was $25 for the inside spa stateroom. What happened to $50? She said it' up to 50 and some stateooms it is less. Ok, no worries.

For kicks I spent half an hour doing mock bookings on different room types and categories and could never get the full obc. Always $25 on inside and Oceanview and $50 on balcony and suites.

I have not ever seen that before. Any ideas?
