Port Solent, Portsdown Hill and the foreshore along by Portchester Castle have been our saviour this past year. All within easy 'lockdown' walking distance from our house. So happy that others on this forum have enjoyed our local area too. ❣️

My childhood haunts, apart from Port Solent which hadn’t been built back then. We were always off on our bikes to the castle, Wicor recreation ground or over the hill. We’re in Cosham now but still like to take the dogs over to Portchester when we can, especially on summer evenings.  The fields at Port Solent are nice then too, if you’re there when the sun is setting over the castle it’s lovely.

  2. The last time we were on Britannia there were 2 smoking areas on Deck 7, one midships starboard and one port side aft. This was 4 years ago however and I know they do occasionally move them so Andy’s info may well be more up to date, but if you do want to avoid the smoke then a forward cabin may be best?

  3. Our last was 4 nights on Ventura in Feb 20, it was supposed to be overnight in Amsterdam but the weather won and we ended up with a day in Zeebrugge and 2 days at sea.  There were a lot of first time cruisers on board but most we spoke to didn't seem put off; I remember one chap being very enthusiastic and saying how he'd be booking more when he got home.  I wonder if he ever did, and ended up frustrated like the rest of us?

  4. I’ve not had a chance to look at this for a few days and I’m impressed with all the pics that have appeared. I’m struggling to find anything interesting or imaginative but for a couple of I’s here’s an inside cabin (promenade view) on Navigator of the Seas and a rather sub-standard ice sculpture.

Ventura isn’t close to being my favourite P&O ship but we’ve always enjoyed our cruises on her. I don’t normally take much notice of the so-called art work on any cruise but by the end of a 5 week cruise I felt that I had absorbed the installations! These particular ones are quite clever if you actually stop and look carefully. They are garish but they also draw you in.

Love it or hate it, it’s good to see these pics as they remind me of great times. I always try to use the stairs instead of the lift and must have seen dozens of them, my favourite was always on Oceana which I posted on the previous thread.

  6. I too have nothing for Z, only Zeebrugge and you had the best ones on the ports thread. Thank you Damian for another entertaining thread and to everyone who’s shared their pictures and memories.  If we ever end up on the same cruise I will most definitely buy you a glass of something (as long as it’s not all of you at once!)

  7. Another Yellow, machinery in geo-thermal power station in Iceland.

Then Y for the coast of Yemen, visible in the distance from Oceana.

And finally Ypres and the Menin Gate, I know we went there in the ports thread but it’s such a moving place I thought it merited another couple of photos.

  8. I’ve only got one X and it’s tenuous at best.  I’ve managed to sneak a few bands into this thread so here’s another one, sort of - X is for XTC, or rather this book I was reading about them.  I’d borrowed it from a friend and had it for ages so took the photo to prove I’d finally got round to reading it.
