  1. Where are you now?  We’re in the bar under yacht club

Front desk said c cruisers would be downstairs because of the function upstairs, but apparently not.  Anyway, we’ll wait for the storm to clear then head home.  Sorry we missed you.  Maybe next time?

Papua New Guinea would be off the cruise list for now, what with the locals playing up, looting, rioting, 15 dead in Port Moresby and Lae.   Out of control.  Been there twice, I don't like it anyway.R.jpg.87c4b6e3180c2eaad8adde43db0e7701.jpg

I think you’re right, sadly.  I would dearly love to visit my mother’s first husband’s resting place in Bomana War Cemetery, but that may not be possible for a long time.

Nice day, Been out to Crookwell a few times, little heritage town. I like to stop at the wind farm viewing area on way.

It’s a lovely drive, I agree, Les.  Lake George, often barely a puddle in years of dry seasons, is an inland sea.  The fence posts are all submerged, and it looks as I remember it as a child.  The rolling hills, stretching to the horizen in all directions, are cloaked in waving, vivid green grasses.  Therapy for the soul.

There is a Japanese restaurant at Macquarie Centre in Sydney, Umaya, that has this amazing scallop and salmon ceviche dish in a wonderful citrusy dressing. We go the for lunch sometimes and always order this. Next time you're in Sydney take a wander across the harbour bridge and try it.

Thanks, Julie…my mouth is watering as I sit at the hairdressers with foils in my hair.  Must be quite a sight😳. My hairdresser just asked what I was smiling about 😂

  5. I love crispy skin.  We decided to have a day in the country and drove approx 280ks round trip, to the lovely town of Crookwell.  The country, after this refreshingly cool and rain-blessed summer, resembles the Emerald Isle.  Old town of Collector for a delicious light lunch on the way, then guess what Mic inspired us to have tonight?  Home via Fyshwick fresh food markets.  Shared a dozen fresh, sweet, meaty south coast oysters, then Mario barbecued salmon fillets perfectly for me:  crispy skin, but medium rare inside.  Fresh blueberries with passionfruit yoghurt to follow.  An indulgent three-courser.  Thanks, Mic.

    How did that work????

Your lasagne has inspired me to make a grilled vege salad to go with meatballs. Not homemade meatballs though. Our greengrocer has these amazing frozen meatballs in sauce which are even better than my home made ones. I discovered them after we returned home from our Japan trip feeling exhausted and not wanting to cook. Now I keep a pack in the feezer. The brand is "To Be Frank".

I’ll look for them;  they sound great.

She just drained a tin of pineapple pieces and mixed them through her rissole mixture before rolling into meatballs 😂.  Once she was having a Saturday night dinner party and she’d ordered some french sticks from the local bakery.  She was minding two GDs, and she had a tiny morris minor.  The bread wouldn’t fit in the boot, so she put the bread on the back seat, put the kids in the boot and said, “Don’t tell your mother”.

That lasagne looks delicious, Linda. I normally don't like lasagne as for some add reason the bolognaise-style meat ragu doesn't agree with me. I can't figure out why either as I don't react that way to other beef mince dishes. Roast veges would be yummy!

Way back when one of our GDs first went vegetarian I modified a moussaka recipe to use finely chopped mushrooms as the meat. It worked really well but I had to halve the amount of herbs and spices in the recipe for the mushroom version.

Julie, your moussaka story reminds me of my aunt, who was like a mother to me really.  We were very close, and I miss her terribly.  She was hysterical sometimes.  When her oldest GD announced she had converted to vegetarianism, my aunt cooked her a special treat of her favourite rissoles.  She put pineapple in them.

  8. Thanks, gents.  We’re usually carnivores too, but I didn’t want to waste the vegs I had overstocked, so this is made with sliced and roasted pumpkin, zucchini and red capsicum (maybe bell pepper for you Lyle).

Roasting first is essential, to raise the flavour level without meat.  There is bechemel with an added egg during cooking, and the obligatory roast tomato sugo I make ahead and freeze in batches, and pasta sheets, also containing egg.  So lots of protein, but we could adapt this lasagne to a gluten-free recipe for you, Les.

Lol, the glasses I ordered online in bulk a while ago; a French design, but quite inexpensive.

Glad you’re nearly there with the sorting through and packing up, Les.  It’s a mammoth task.  Take care and go easy.

Interesting you should ask about the terminal. The Southampton VTS Cruise Ship Schedule has one cruise ship or another at each one of the five cruise terminals at some point from the last weekend in April through May 3rd. For the maiden voyage departing May 3rd, the Ocean, Horizon and QEII terminals have other ships scheduled at the moment. Of course those terminal assignments are always subject to change.

As I mentioned previously, QM2 and QV will be in port on Sunday, April 28th (along with Arvia and MSC Poesia). It should be a very interesting celebration indeed to have QA in port that day along with two of her sisters. As the schedule stands now, City terminal is the available spot for QA on April 28th.

What a majestic sight it would be if all three were visiting together.  I do think we should change your name to "Blue Leader"🙂
