  1. Hello all,

Going to Bermuda in Nov. this year and met online a gentlemen offering to do a tour with me and wife and 7 yr daughter. We've had a few emails back and forth and I've asked but just trying to get more info. He quoted me a price and while he is not a professional tour operator he does it on the side when not working his FT job. No business page, etc. He has recommended like other plenty of options and places to visit and to go. Just unsure if the guy is legit so looking for anything additional. He offered his phone listing and referrals if I wanted.

    His name is Peter Barrett.

He’s the only person I ever see advertising his services on the Bermuda FB page. For this reason alone I don’t like him.

  2. We are booked o n Navigator of the Seas for Nov 18 and would like to change to Oasis of the Seas for Nov 18. Just got off the phone with RCL resolution specialist who states we're unable to change because we're last final payment date. The problem that I have with this is the cruise reservation receipt shows $100 per person charge to change ship or sail date but no mention that this needs to be done prior to final payment. Has anyone changed ship and/or sail date after final payment.

They won’t do it. Last year in the days leading up to hurricane Maria we asked to change our sailing from San Juan to Bayonne No dice

  4. Also if you are ever grocery shopping and see a pineapple sitting upside down in a grocery cart, that's supposed to be a sign of an actively looking couple.......heard that from a buddy at work a while back......just hope I don't accidently place my next pineapple purchase the wrong way in my cart ....hahahahaha

    Test out the theory.

  5. Same happened to us. We spent a bit of time taking photos with the approved background...downloading them onto the computer, then attaching them to the docs... Got to port, they retook our photos in less than 60 secs. Now we do not even bother to submit photos with our docs.

Exactly. For our November anthem cruise I skipped that step also

  6. What is "smart check"? Thanks!

There’s no counter. Just csr holding tablets standing around. through the terminal. RC wants you to upload your photo before you arrive. They say it makes it faster. My family must not be too photogenic. They retook ours. Bayonne is 20 mins from my home. Makes it very convenient.

  7. Nothing to stop you, but I wouldn't think it would be easier with kids. Really no place to sit and eat in the cabin, unless you are just thinking cookies or something, not a real meal. Also hard to carry with drinks, etc.

Never mind hard to carry. It’s almost impossible to open the door without setting something down on the floor. This is the only reason I could think of for getting a wristband. lol.

  8. Excellent review. We enjoyed anthem as well but enjoyed harmony a bit better. We will be on anthem next sep for a ne cruise.

I agree with the carrying around of the cup. Kind of amusement parkish. I never ever had trbl getting a soda from a bar. The bartenders are top notch. I give them a dollar sometimes too. My complaint is the soda from the bar guns tastes like ass. Pardon my French

  9. So I was really nervous to use Uber. I thought we would be kidnapped and our families would never see us again. But I feel way better about it now.

First download the Uber app and load in all your personal info and the credit card you want to pay with so its all stored. Then when you want an Uber open the app and type in where you want to go. It will give you an estimated pick up time, drop off time, and the price.

If you want it hit confirm and in a moment or two your route is picked up by a driver. Once that happens you will be told your drivers name, vehicle, and you can see their review rating and read reviews about them. If you don’t like what you see you can cancel.

You can also send a message to the driver like “we are at pick up spot 9” or “I’m the tall dude wearing a red hat”

Then once you are in the car you can keep your app up and it will display the route the driver is to take and your car on the route (the driver will have this same info on their side. They are to go the way Uber says not which ever way they want). The app will also constantly update giving you an estimated time of arrival.

Also there is an emergency button on your app that you can hit if you ever feel in danger or if your driver is going off route.

Once you get to your destination you simply hop out. The fare is charged to your credit card automatically. No need to tip either because once you are done the Uber app will ask you if you want to give the driver a tip or not, and then you have the opportunity to rate the driver to help out others.

I was very skeptical because like I said I thought I was going to be murdered and chopped up into little bits. But I felt totally safe and I just kept te app up and tracked our progress. And man it saved us $70!

Welcome to the 21st century. I see so many ppl still using transfers that charge per person. Just doesn’t make sense to me. Uber Lyft Via or Bliss or even a taxi if it’s right there I’ll choose any day over the shuttle.

  10. Hello BigHouseFootball

I was pleased to read that you and your wife enjoyed your visit to NYC !

You certainly did pack in some good experiences in the three days.

As I wrote in a previous post, it is a great city.

So glad that you, came to the idea that you could possibly live there !

As the other poster from LI wrote about 9/11, most native New Yorkers have ties and memories of that day.I have yet to visit the museum or the Freedom tower. Maybe still too emotiional.

One of my former students was late for work that day due to a traffic issue and, fortunately, was spared.

She was so affected though, she left her job in finance in the City and owns a miniature golf place at the end of Long Island where my DH and I have lived for the past thirty four years.

We often go into the City as “tourists” and always enjoy visiting our familiar places and discovering new ones.

I will continue to read your posts about the cruise.

I certainly think that you had an enjoyable time on the ship !

Good wishes to you for the beginning of the school year.

As a retired elementary teacher, I fondly remember those first days of school !

9/11 museum as a Staten Islander and we lost about 275 souls that day lots of fdny and nypd to me is a cemetery and should not have tourists walking around it. Gettysburg too is a cemetery where plenty of men died and is an attraction as well. The only difference is at Gettysburg the men signed up to fight. At the WTC many were simply going to work. Just my opinion. Don’t want to open a debate
