  1. Celebrity does a great job with onboard lecturers and ports of call talks. They tend to add extra things like kitchen tours, chefs demonstrations, cocktail mixing classes, computer classes, pool parties, bridge viewing, Many times your roll call participants  will organize  card games, cabin crawls, meet and greets, mah jong and knitters groups, slot tournaments,  etc. Yes, cabin fever can be a real possibility, thats where a nice long afternoon nap by the pool comes in handy. Transpacific and transatlantic  are wonderful cruises to relax on. Of course, no one knows what really  will be available once sailing resumes.

  2. Wonder what this means for the Oct. transatlantic, if it will start in Athens now instead of Barcelona. Most likely it will be cancelled and ship will sail back with just  crew. Only time will tell.

  3. 2 days in SPB, we don't want to spend the one night back on the ship but we are probably not interested in sitting through a show of any sort (I'm afraid that after a full day of touring I might fall asleep), but I am looking for something to do that isn't too strenuous or late (we do have a full day the next day too) but is still a bit lively.  I will be contacting our daytime tour company (Alla) to see what they suggest but wanted to see what ideas you all have done so I can make  more educated request.  Any suggestions?

We did a great evening tour thru SPB-Tours. A visit to an upscale food shop, a local backstreet wine bar, then an illuminated canal tour with unlimited vodka. Transportation from pier and back provided. This was definitely a highlight of our cruise! St Petersburg after dark is stunning!!l

  4. We did the overnight in Kyoto last year. Arrived in Kobe at noon, shuttled to downtown and took a taxi to the station, took the train to Kyoto, stayed at the Hotel Granvia right at the main train station and had a TripleLights guide the whole next day, our cruise departed at 8pm so we got to see alot. We decided on the hotel at the train station so we could leave our overnight bag there during the day, and then picked it up on our way to the train. It was a fantastic experience!

We just returned from an Asian cruise on Azamara. We choose to go to Siem Reap after the cruise rather than giving up 2 days within the cruise. Doing the post cruise trip was easy & far less expensive than going with the ship. We flew from Singapore on Silk Air (regional airline for Singapore AL) arranged a deluxe hotel that included transportation from/to the airport. We then arranged for a private tour that picked us up at our hotel, toured & returned us . All prices were reasonable. Great site and was one of the highlights of this trip.

We are doing Siem Reap post Millenium cruise next month, We have our air, hotel arranged etc.  Can you recommend a tour guide or itinerary for Angkor Wat?

  6. I'm starting to fell like it's "Groundhog Day". Most of the passengers are upbeat but have heard a number that were upset with the changes. I heard one lady screaming at the Customer Service Agent blaming the Captain for ruining her cruise. OH well..

I just cancelled my tour in Busan as my guide will not be available on the new arrival date. Toursbylocals has been good and issuing full refund.

As a further note,. The mood has been surprisingly good, considering that the shops and the casino have been closed during this entire Japan section. There are very few activities, nothing new has been added to keep people occupied. After our second stop in Kobe, today, we are headed for two days at sea.

  7. Is this Charger issue primarily on Celebrity, or are other Cruise lines also cracking down on power strips, chargers, etc with surge protectors? We havent cruised other lines recently.

  8. We have done this previously in other locations. The procedure is you must email the cruise line customer service and request an “Early Disembarkation Waver”,include in your request all of the pertinent details, including confirmation number, names, reasons for departure, dates etc. It may take them some time to respond because they have to contact immigrations to be sure that they will be available. ( since the ship will overnight there, this probably wont be a problem since Immigration will have already been processed, but they must know that some passengers are not departing with the rest). Luckily you have some time before sailing for them to process the request. I wouldnt make flight arrangements until you get a downline confirmation. I would also request that customer service notify you that they have received your request and to have them give you an aprox date that they might let you know their answer. Be sure to keep the paper trail.

  9. We had Mickey, his wife and daughter on our transpacific cruise two years ago. He really added a lot to our enjoyment, he made the sea days fly by! I hope he has success in his new ventures
