  1. Hi all,

I recently accepted that our upcoming (early 2021) cruise is likely not going to happen, and even if it did, things would be too Covid-y to enjoy. So we did the Lift and Shift to 2022.

I received a new invoice from Celebrity in about 24 hours, but the specific line items from the original booking invoice (3 perks) do not appear on the new invoice.

To be specific, when this was originally booked, there was a 3-perk promo going on (chose OBC, Classic Drink Package, Gratuities). That appeared on the original invoice as:

    Cruise Fare
    BEVOBCGRT NRD
    SAVEDOUBLE NRD
    Gratuities
    TAP4-GRAT C/A 7N
    YWF2-PROMO2C 7N
    YWF3-BEVCLINGRAT7

The new invoice DOES show the correct OBC in the little table at the bottom, and the total price is the same (or close enough - one port changed so the fees went up $5, but that's not really relevant). For those who have done the Lift and Shift, should the new invoice show the specific perks from the original booking? Do I need to call and sort this out? Is there any way to confirm the drink package and gratuities are truly applied to the booking without them appearing on the invoice?

    Thanks for the advice!

The "crud" in the aerator, and the discolored water is a fairly common occurrence on ships, when the piping has been drained for maintenance.  The calcium carbonate (the active ingredient in Tums) added to the water to control the pH of the water (its acidity is important both from a viewpoint of corrosion of piping, as well as the need to keep the pH in a tight range so that the chlorine used to sanitize the water works at its optimum capacity) forms a scale on the inside of the piping.  While the pipes remain full of water, this scale remains on the wall of the pipe.  When the piping is shut down and drained to fix something, the scale dries out and falls off the piping.  Since the water in the ship's piping is constantly flowing, even when no one is using water (it recirculates back to the tank), this scale is carried back to the tanks within a few minutes.  However, the static legs of piping (no flow until you open the valve) like your cabin sink and shower, will accumulate this scale.  This can cause blockage of the aerator, and this is why the water will run clear after a minute or two, depending on how long the static leg to your sink was.

While unpleasant in appearance, there is nothing harmful in the water, it is just an antacid.  Water is tested onboard every month, from a minimum of six random locations, like a passenger sink, a galley faucet, etc, for to meet health requirements.

Exactly as the plumbing in your house.

  3. Offering these as some helpful tips to those who might search for it in the future.

Was having difficulty doing online check-in through the new "Dashboard" page. Frequently having trouble accessing the online check-in form, reservation getting "locked" etc.

Forget the new blue "Online check in" link on the dashboard page. Enter your reservation details manually through the "old" system: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/online-check-in/getReservationInfo.do

In addition, I was having trouble with some of the online check-in forms populating properly with Chrome (specifically the inability to "approve" the credit card terms - checkbox). As terrible as it is, use Internet Explorer. It is on the same level of suck as the Royal website, so they seem to play together much better.

Hope this helps someone in the future.

  4. I have a Harmony sailing booked for next December (2018). Under the promo at the time of my booking, there was $100 OBC included, and I redeemed $250 OBC through the MyVegas games for a total of $350. All of this has since been spent through cruise planner purchases.

Under today's sale ("Green Monday"?), I could reprice for a net gain of $101 ($1 cheaper fare, $200 OBC). If I were to do this, how would Royal handle my already-spent OBC from my original booking AND the myVegas credit? I fear things would just get mangled to the point it's not worth the hassle... Thoughts?

    Thanks!
