  1. I am new to Seabourn and still trying to figure out the site.   But when I go into my account and choose my bookings there is a place that shows excursions and you have to go day by day.   But I did see on top of that line where they show all of the days - off to the right - kind of hidden in the picture a link that has a PDF that has all of the tours listed and the descriptions.    I assume you can send it to your email but I am not sure.

  2. Interesting to read all of the responses about entertainment times - bottom line is that I will just wait and see what happens.   If the times fit our dinner schedule - great.   If not will just go to bed a little earlier.   Thanks all for the responses.

  3. Jenidallas, thank you for the information.   Personally I like early or pre-dinner shows so the timing sounds good.   I was not sure when to make our TK reservation so decided to do it the first night at sail-away time.

    Thanks again.

  4. Good day all, we are taking our first Seaborne cruise in August and very excited.   My question is about the nightly entertainment.   We will be on the Ovation (Greek Islands).   Do they normally do two shows a night and about what time are the shows.   I understand it likely will vary by cruise and maybe daily depending on when the ship leaves port but are they normally say around 6 and 8 p.m. or more like 8 and 10 p.m.

Thank you for your help and information.

  5. JerryinBWB, thanks for information on military credit - mentioned it to my TA who called Princess and we now have it.

Birdmom, thanks for information on Tahiti rebooking OBC - have that too.  Sorry about your name - I am having trouble with cruisecritic last few days - it only lets me type certain things and some words it will not accept.   I cannot figure it out but ticking me off.  It will not let me type your "state name" in front of your screen name.  Yesterday I could not use personalizer.   I hope this does not continue.

  6. Noreen, thanks but I did get the email - but when I look at my booking no OBC for $150 is shown.   I wonder if it is because I booked with a TA.   I just talked to her and she is going to look into it.   She said she did it for another client and all was well so hopefully that will be the case here too.   Now have to search for the new roll call - may have to use your link because when I look at Pacific Princess roll calls they do not show any for 2022.   Then again I am having trouble with cruisecritic today so might just be my computer.   At any rate off to do this now.   Will see you on new board.

  7. Azbirdmom, we also do not see the $150 OBC offer.   Our TA is checking on it.   We also do not see the usual military OBC credits that my husband gets - not sure if a glitch in their system or what but hopefully we can work it out before we sail and we have lot and lots of time for that.

  8. Do they have the Nu-Step machine in the gym?   This is piece of equipment where you sit and can move your arms and legs at the same time - they often use it for physical therapy.

    Thanks for any information.

  9. Alfaeric, thanks for the information on the streets.   Narrow streets are okay but it is difficult with no ramps on the corner to cross the streets.   Just starting to do some research - sounds like parts of El Morro are accessible and perhaps the walk outside of the city wall.   Will continue my research.   Thanks again for your information.

  10. We will only be in port for about five or six hours (Allure in March) and would like to go to the old town - it sounds very interesting and thank you all for the information.   But, we are traveling with my mother who uses a wheelchair so we would need to push her.   I realize the sidewalks will likely not be ADA compliant but any thoughts on the condition of the sidewalks for a wheelchair would be appreciated.

  11. Mark me down as another excited follower - have my calendar marked to check two weeks today for the first blog. Excited to hear about all of your plans and as others have said you really have a way with words and love to read about your days. You make every day - even the less eventful ones - exciting and fun to read. Take care and glad you are off for another winter of cruising and traveling.

  12. Interesting thread - my Mother travels with a wheelchair and a rollator. So far, we have checked the rollator and gate checked the wheelchair. We have not had a problem but after reading this information wondering if we should gate check the rollator in the future. But she also needs the wheelchair so we would have to gate check the wheelchair and the rollator. Has anyone had experience checking both items at the gate?

    Thanks.

  13. molly361, thanks for the information on finding the refundable fares. Just checked using your information and it was there. Thank you.

Thank you also ignites about the reminder to call RCCL for options. May be doing that because last night when I did a dummy booking the Diamond balcony discount was showing. Today it is not. Hmmmm.

  14. Hi all, its been awhile since I booked on RCCL but last time I booked it showed two prices for the cabin. One if you booked with a refundable deposit and one if you booked with a non-refundable deposit. I am looking at sailing on the Allure and I see they are showing a discount for two for one and for a May something special and when I price the cabin it shows these two discounts but does not give me a price if I want to book refundable.

Can you still book refundable and if so how do you do it - do you have to call RCCL instead of booking on line? Not sure which way I want to go but did want to see the difference in price if that was still an option.

    Thanks.

  15. Cltdad and Moki'sMommy, thanks for your comments. It kind of validates what I was thinking about skipping Palo dinner to better experience the dining rooms. Cltdad, the brunch dates are sold out so will check when we get on the ship. I usually don't like to eat that much for lunch though - may just take Moki's Mommy's advice and just skip Palo this time around. Thanks again for the comments.

  16. Hi All, we are new to Disney cruises and taking our first this May on the Wonder. It is a five day from San Diego. I have heard that the dining is one of the best experiences with the various shows especially the one in Animator's dining room.

However, reviews of Palo are also good and friends have highly suggested we try it. The only time still available is sail away night. I have booked it but having second thoughts especially after reading some of the comments on this thread. I would like to try Palo but not at the expense of missing some great show or experience in the dining rooms especially since this is only a five day cruise and as I understand it we will not know what rotation we are assigned until we board.

So my question to you experienced Disney cruisers is would you recommend I keep the Palo reservation or wait until a future cruise and just experience the dining rotation on this cruise. Thanks for your help.

  17. Thanks to Flatbush Flyer for mentioning about the pre-existing conditions and the fine print. I decided to review the information and ended up calling Aon Travel (the company that provides the Princess Insurance.)

I found out there is a lot I didn't know. First, although we indicated that we wanted the insurance when we initially booked the cruise it does not become effective until it is paid for (in this case final payment). So anything that happens in the 60 days before final payment is not covered.

I was also told by the insurance company that since this was a pre-existing condition that they would not pay us back in cash if we canceled (but probably could get the credit for a future cruise) butalso that if she required care on the ship for something gall bladder related they would not cover the cost.

So most likely we will be canceling the cruise and hopefully will get the credit to use for a future cruise. I may be the only one that did not realize when the effective date of the policy is but in the event I am not passing on the information.

Again thanks to all for your help and assistance.

  18. Thanks again to all who responded. Very informative.

By the way I did email Med Vac Assist - turns out people over 84 can get insurance if they are members of AARP. Think it is $750 per year and only covers international travel. But for us it is now a timing issue. There is quite an extensive medical form to fill out and you have to have all doctors sign the form. Well one of hers is gone for two weeks. And then it takes them 5 to 7 days to approve. And we leave in two and a half weeks. So not sure that will work for her.

Regarding having her gall bladder removed we are still waiting for the surgeon to review the case and determine if she is a candidate. If she is, and she would have it removed, she would not recover in time for the cruise, so we would definitely cancel. But at her age surgery is risky and she is not certain she wants to go through it.

Now on a related subject (and mainly cause I am curious) has any one had experience with hospitals in Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala or Nicaragua. I am sure they are fine but interesting if there are any first hand experiences. When we were in Cuba we were told that health care is free (for residents) but when they go to hospital they have to bring their own sheets, towels, soap, etc.

  19. Thank you all for the information on the medical facility, much, much appreciated. Yes, this is a Panama Canal cruise and yes the issue is gall stones. If it was like her prior situation she would not require surgery but would require fluids, pain medication, and antibiotics.

I have looked into regular travel insurance and Med-Vac Assist but the cost is very high because of her age. That is main reason we chose the Princess Insurance because it is the same cost no matter the age. Of course that was prior to her gall bladder attack and even if she wanted to consider it now it likely would be considered a pre-existing condition and not cover her anyway.

Her GI Doctor has said there are no easy answers. He said she may never have another attack or she could have one tomorrow. He also encouraged us to go on the cruise so we are now leaning in that direction.

Again thanks for all of the information - while much of it backs up what I think I already knew it does confirm some of the information and I learned a few new things.

  20. Is there some document or other information that outlines what medical procedures can be performed on the ship and when they will require you to get off the ship for medical attention?

We are traveling with my 95 year old Mother who recently was hospitalized for gall stones. Her Doctors have stated there is no way to determine if she will have another attack and have encouraged us to take our cruise (Christmas on the Island Princess). However, our concern is if she were to have another attack would they require us to get off the ship in Mexico, Guatemala or Nicaragua or would they treat her on the ship?

We have Princess Insurance but I cannot find any document that outlines what conditions they can treat on the ship or when they would require us to get off the ship. We are concerned about having my Mother hospitalized off the ship.

    Any information is appreciated.

  21. Colo Cruiser and Astro Flyer, thank you both for information on the mattress toppers for the upper bunk. Will ask when we get on board and if we get it that be great. If not, well, guess that be okay also.

    Jill

  22. We are three in a stateroom so one of us will have to be on the upper bunk. Can you get a mattress topper for the top bunk or only for the regular beds? Would be great if we can because the mattress on the top bunk is pretty thin.
