  1. I'm on the cruise after you and I wasn't able to book our MTD either. I wasn't too concerned about it then because I didn't have the shows booked and I knew I would probably need to change some of the dinner times anyway so as not to conflict with the show times. However, I now have the shows booked and I'd like to make the dinner reservations but I still can't!

Unable to edit my original post, but I just tried to book MTD and I was able to now. Maybe when they opened the show reservations they opened MTD too? Either way, maybe try it again to see if it works for you now too.

  3. Interesting, the prices dropped a bit. Maybe they are converging to the price point of maximum profit.

Yes, looking at the above post it does appear that the prices have dropped. I still think they're on the expensive side since it's just my mom and I, but I think it becomes reasonable when more people share the cost. Luckily, each time we booked a cabana we were able to use onboard credit to cover most, if not all, of the cost and we'll try to do do the same for a standard cabana this time.

  4. An interesting thread. I can relate to this....

A number of years ago, I was sailing with my elderly mother on the HAL Maasdam. We were booked in an inside cabin, which had a stall shower. When we checked in at the pier, we learned to our delight, that we had been upgraded to a nice midship ocean view cabin.

When we checked out our cabin, my mother took one look at the bathtub, which had extremely high sides, and announced she could not climb in to use the shower. I went immediately to guest relations, and explained my dilemma, asking to be switched back to an inside. The clerk said, sorry, the ship was fully booked, and there were no insides available.

Just then, a woman in line behind me, approached and said that she overheard our problem, and said she had an inside, and would be glad to swap cabins with us. I asked the clerk if that would be okay, and she said yes, and made the arrangements, issuing us all new seapasses, and having the stewards help us move.

So the lesson I learned from that, was to be sure to mark "no upgrades" on my future reservations....:)

Hi Bob, good to see you again! I hope you and your family are doing well.

To stay on topic, I would consider switching cabins but only if members of the crew are involved to make sure there are no mix ups, as others have mentioned. I would not , however, switch if the reason was just to be closer to the rest of the group with which they're traveling. I have travelled in groups before and we were spread out over the ship and it was doable, and even a bit fun exploring the other passenger decks.

  5. Hello there.

Pre-reservations for our shows are only available for Allure, Anthem, Oasis, Quantum, and Harmony of the Seas through our Cruise Planner. Entertainment reservations are available to book within 90 to 60 days prior to sailing.

    Hope this info helps!

    That does help, thank you!

  6. So no charge for this other than photo ? With D C&A you get one photo pp...but perhaps this wouldn't apply.

That's what I thought too, and said to myself 'How nice of Royal Caribbean to provide this for free and only charge for the pictures." Then I checked the brochure it said the package starts at $450...

OP, maybe you can post on your roll call and see if anyone would be willing to work with you to document the proposal?

  7. We were also on that cruise and appreciate reading other people's opinions on it. Personally we enjoyed the food in the Main Dining Room but will probably take a pass on the Sea Day Brunches in the future. That was probably the meals we least enjoyed. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Guys Burgers! As far as the entertainment, I think the one you missed was an 80's review (don't remember the name) but that one we left in the middle because it was incredibly cheesy and we didn't really care for the male blond lead performer. We left when he came out with the guitar and started singing Rick Springfield's Jessie's Girl. However, the other shows we saw, Heart of Soul and 88 Keys (mainly because we think the dark haired male performer was superior to the blond guy) we really enjoyed.

I did find Jen's (CD) voice a little annoying, and even more so as the week went on with her daily announcements, but she is entertaining in person. I also agree with you regarding the layout of the ship. When we were on the Imagination last summer we didn't remember feeling as lost as we did on The Freedom. Of course it started really being less confusing towards the end of the cruise but then we were leaving! Like you we had FTTF and as long as it's available we will also grab a FTTF in the future. We totally felt like it was money well spent.

I agree, I like hearing other people's opinions of the cruises we take because they usually had a completely different experience! It sounds like you enjoyed yours :)

I must admit that one of the reasons why I like the brunch is because I can get two of my favorite foods, omelettes and Mac and cheese, at the same meal lol. And you're right, it was the 80s show that I missed but it sounds like I didn't really miss anything.

I was unsure if the FTTF would be worth it for us but like you I'll definitely get it if I cruise Carnival I the future. Thank you for your comments!

  8. This is so nostalgic for me. The Freedom 6 day itinerary (I had Key West instead of Cozumel and Ocho Rios instead of Falmouth) is a great cruise often overlooked, so it's usually cheap.

I never got the 2.0 amenities, as I got off the day they sent the ship to Freeport.

Thanks fro your review! Sounds like a great cruise! :D

Such a shame that you just missed out on the 2.0 upgrades!

  9. How did you find the FTTF line at the port? Was there signs?

Just outside the entrance to the terminal there is someone checking your boarding pass. They saw that we had FTTF so they directed us to the short security line and after that, another person directed us to the FTTF check in line. There was a sign but it's easy to miss so definitely ask someone if you're not exactly sure about where they're directing you to go.
