  1. I am on the Summit right now. The Internet in public areas and the iLounge is better than in your room. I mainly wanted Internet in my room so I am disappointed with the service. In port, a place that offers wifi, like a coffee shop, is better. I don't know about security issues for work.

I don't think using a coffee shop wifi is going to work. He's okay going to the Internet cafe if needed. He'll need to check in daily and do more substantial worn on at least two evenings.

  2. 1. Just read the internet is spotty. DH HAS to work while onboard. There's absolutely no way around it. We have the unlimited package. Are some places better? Internet cafe? In port (Bermuda) better than at sea?

    2. How does one get luggage tags? I see ones on my account I can print, but they a)aren't sticky and b)I don't have a color printer. Am I missing something?

  3. To the OP....please don't be deterred by the remarks about the Caves. If you can arrange it, definitely make a trip to the Caves part of your visit to Bermuda. The Caves are stunning, and a great family outing. Part of the tour includes a walk through some of the lush landscaping on the property. One memorable moment was when the tour guide pointed out the All Spice tree (which for me was a new one). You rub the leaves between your fingers, and smell, and sure enough...All Spice. Enjoy your cruise! We will be there in August on the Summit. Bermuda is a beautiful island. Very British, and not at all like the Bahamas, in my opinion.

Thanks. DH wants to see the caves. We are in our 40s with no mobility issues beyond a tween and a 8.5 year old! Can't do much about them!

  4. No worries on the IT comments....doesn't bother me in the least, I just ignore the things that I'm not interested in! :)

As for the boat sponsored trip, either I missed it or it included things we don't want? Maybe I missed it...hmmmm...

  5. Norovirus is highly contagious as it can live on surfaces for weeks, is resilient to ordinary cleaners and one only needs to ingest a few micro particles. For those reasons, areas with large numbers of people have the most outbreaks. Hand washing, keeping hands away from your face, and making an effort not to touch railings/doorknobs/etc will help to minimize your exposure.

  6. Thank you for all of the input and ideas. I'm mostly concerned with the 12 yo as they will have some freedom and will need their cards. The little ones (entering 3rd grade) likely won't need theirs all the time.

  7. Ok, so here's an idea....the kids are old enough to do 'crafty' things.....how about getting them together and beading something they can wear on the cruise? It'll be fun and get them excited about the cruise!

As others have said, you can go to Guest Services once you board and they will gladly punch a hole in them.

    Great idea!

  8. That first day can be busy, son and I did a tour last year on the first day but did it early in the afternoon. Wee sat at the pool in the morning and relaxed as everyone ran off the ship, at lunch and then went on our tour. Nice and relaxing. To be honest though, we had gone to Bermuda four years in a row so were not in a real hurry.

Also, if I remember correctly there are two places at the pier to buy tokens, don't go to the closest one, walk a little further to the next one, shorter lines.

Our first day we are doing a mid-afternoon excursion so we don't have to rush off the boat! The second day (weather permitting) is Horseshoe Bay Beach (and exploring the other beaches in that area) and the last day is the caves. Because we are traveling with others who don't want to check the caves out, our plan is limited.

  9. Traveling with a party of 8 (4 kids, ages 7-12.) Thinking we all need lanyards? If so, do we need the kind with the id holder? Going to have to purchase them probably, so I can get whatever works the best/makes the most sense.

  10. Keep in mind that you will need to get tokens for the ferry and so will need some extra time due to the fact that both Summit and Breakaway will let people off the ship at about the same time. It can get mobbed.

    Thank you. Lot to consider.

  11. I'm thinking if we did the 7:30 ferry, then a taxi to the caves for the 9am opening and then reverse that we could be back on the ship by 1-2. I really can't see us there for more than a couple of hours, max. Maybe I'm not thinking this through correctly...

  12. Thank you so far everyone! We are traveling with kids and with another family, so based on other excursions we are pretty much tied to the last day for the caves for my husband. We are willing to be up and out early and with kids everything is quick, especially any sightseeing. Keep the advice coming....I very much appreciate it.

  13. We are sailing in August and have a few questions:

    1. Can you order whatever you want in the MDR (on other lines our daughter uses it as an opportunity to experiment a bit)

    2. We have select dining. Once sitting, how long does dinner last on average?

    3. Should we expect to have trouble hanging by the pool? If so, how early does one need to begin their sunbathing to get a lounger?

    4. At the pool, do servers come around to take drink orders or does one go to the bar?

    5. Any sense of what main "show" will be on the first night?

    6. In Bermuda, quickest/easiest/most reliable way to get to the caves? We will do this on Day 3 in Bermuda and would like to go early and get back to the ship.
