Exactly what do you expect your travel agent to do?

They have no control over the situation. Your anger should be directed at Ambassador.

I always think of the travel agent as being the agent of the cruise line, not of me.

Recently, a cruise I had booked was cancelled. I just waited for the refund to arrive. Getting angry with them doesn't make any difference, and it's not good for your health!

  2. Cunard is the only line I've been on so far that has free fruit juice in the buffet 24 hours a day. And very tasty it is too!

Other lines turn the machines off at 11 in the morning or so.

There is a good free room service menu too. They craftily hide the menu in the desk drawer so I didn't spot it until the last night of my cruise.

Is this a pukka news site as I haven't seen any comments so far passengers were made aware of the dry docking schedule when embarking?

At least part of the 'info' has come from people currently on board. Whether it's accurate or not is anolhet matter ...

Was that taken after the repair?  It looks too clean to be a blade that was in use, it looks like the replacement one.

I can't vouch for their reliability!

PS: Sorry for the botched syntax in my earlier post about why pax would want pix.

Be interesting if someone could get a pix of the damaged blade.

I'm not sure what a damaged blade looks like (or indeed why anyone pax would want a pix!). Could this be it?

Is there any update from those on board?

Yes, the captain announced 4 hours ago that the propeller had been fully repaired.

It amuses me that the descriptions of the hotels on the Princess website appear to have been written by somebody who has never been to London.

I certainly wouldn't pay those prices for any of those hotels, but then again I'm from Yorkshire originally. You can stay at Travelodge London Central Waterloo for a fraction of the cost, and still be within easy reach of most tourist attractions (including many which Princess Cruises seem not to have heard of).

Can you provide more detail about what you didn't like? Ta🙂

I didn't see any point in dressing up in black tie just to sit in the buffet, with people wandering past wearing shorts and flipflops to get their hamburger and chips.

  9. Sadly, not everyone who signed up actually attended. I had hoped to meet several people from the Roll Call, but it was not to be.

Unfortunately it clashed with the destination presentations on Copenhagen, Stockholm and Tallinn in the Silhouette Theater. We'd already had a less than amiable encounter with some people from the roll call the previous day in Bruges, so decided our time might be better spent elsewhere.

  10. I hate it when people get off the elevator, stand there, look me in the eye and say “where’s the bingo” (or whatever). I now either ignore them or say do you see a Celebrity name tag on me. I feel they just can’t be bothered to research the location of the events they are looking for.

  11. Curiously, I thought it by far the best show on the cruise we were on. In case anyone's interested, the songs were as follows:

    • "Magic To Do" – Pippin
    • "Before Your Very Eyes" – The Magic Show
    • "Corner of the Sky" – Pippin
    • "No Time At All" – Pippin
    • "Day By Day" – Godspell
    • "Popular" – Wicked
    • "Prestidigitation" – Reluctant Pilgrim
    • "Just Because It's Magic" – Geppetto
    • "Defying Gravity" – Wicked
    • "Beyond Belief" – Houdini
    • "It'll Be Me" – Houdini
    • "Colors of the Wind" – Pocahontas
    • "A Little Magic" – Original Song
    • "When You Believe" – Prince of Egypt

It was great to hear such unusual songs as "Prestidigitation" after a fortnight of mostly unforgettable crowd pleasers aimed at people who don't enjoy musical theatre. Sadly. many of these people are unable to spare 35 minutes of their valuable time concentrating on something they haven't seen before.

  12. I guess it would have made more sense to quote the prices from the Princess Cruises site for:

    14 Night Mediterranean Interlude

    Sapphire Princess

    Departing 22 September 2018

    From Southampton

    14 nights

    These are currently as follows:

    Inside

    ÂŁ999 pp

    Oceanview

    ÂŁ1,199 pp

    Balcony

    ÂŁ1,299 pp

    Mini-Suite

    ÂŁ1,599 pp

    Suite

    ÂŁ4,393 pp

  13. What sailing is that, I’ll price it in the USA for interest.

    Prices from Iglu Cruise for:

    14 Night Mediterranean Interlude

    Sapphire Princess

    Departing 22 September 2018

    From Southampton

    14 nights

    are currently as follows:

    Inside

    ÂŁ990 pp

    Oceanview

    ÂŁ1,089 pp

    Balcony

    ÂŁ1,287 pp

    Suite

    ÂŁ1,584 pp

  14. Lots of good UK offers on at the moment, 3rd and 4th pax at £99. 14 night cruise from Southampton for a family of 4 end of July £2350. That’s only £590 pp

Agreed. I booked a Mediterranean cruise this week for two people at ÂŁ1,287 per person. A fortnight ago, it would have been ÂŁ1,729 per person.

    Pax vobiscum?

  15. Just to be clear.....Ceuta is part of Spain, not Morocco

I think we might need to point this out to Princess Cruises, too.Their description of Ceuta for shore excursions is decidedly dodgy. This bit:

From 1912 until 1959, the city was also the capital of Spanish Morocco, a colonial protectorate created when France and Spain divided that kingdom during the "Morocco Crisis" of 1912. Generalisimo Francisco Franco launched the Spanish Civil War from Ceuta in 1936.

actually refers not to Ceuta at all, but to Tétouan in Morocco. There is an excursion to Tétouan – I wonder if they realise there is a double barbed-wire fence separating them.
